It's in other threads but for the record: GENTS are resetting the "tribute list" one week from today, as is much of the FountainCo crew (excluding FA).

GENTS corp stuff

ITSPI need to prove they're making the changes necessary to stay in GENTS sooner rather than later. Tick Tock.

C-IN were tempkicked for an awoxer, and are rejoining shortly. They've had some serious inactivity issues and were apparently overzealous in their attempt at a resurgence. Hopefully they can get their things together.

1-MIN, as has been posted before, have dissolved and their members primarily joined other GENTS corps. There's been no urgency to remove the corp itself, but we posted notice for that.

IGNE, as alluded to by Chris, is apparently going the route of 1-MIN. I haven't been following this closely so I'll leave it to Chris to add any details, just including it for completeness.

More corps incoming?

With all the NC drama there's a danger for all alliances to bloat up on the scattering corps/members. There's also some potential to pick up some good people/corps. We'll be trying to accomplish the latter with a minimum of the former, but as the list above this indicates we're not perfect at picking corps so don't be surprised if a corp has a short stay in the alliance.

There's one NC corp we've been talking to for some time (heck, we spoke with them before we even announced the alliance) that I wouldn't count against our NC-cascade quota.

We were chasing a zealot in there the other day. It warped toward the direction of the TCU and belt to escape us, and none of us (including the Nulli zealot) knew about the TCU being there. We were all "k half go to the belt, half go to the TCU" and then when we landed we were all loling, including the Nulli zealot (who died).

For once, I am going to actually make an effort and not shitpost.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am the COO of GENTS (yeah I don’t have the uber cred like Kesper and Lake) and GENTS doesn’t endorse anything that comes out of my piehole. I have thought about “best practices” of how GENTS was created and how others could learn from the lessons of alliance creation and operations. This could be viewed as monumental self pleasuring/masturbation which I have to level 5.

GENTS Best Practices – 6 Months in

GENTS for all intensive purposes is unlike any other alliance that I have been in or heard of. I think due to the fact that even though there are major differences in corps (IE: the “srs business” of PRAX, the socialist BIG, the social comedians of UP, and many others) culturally there has been major efforts to integrate not only the top tier of leadership but the general membership as well. We encourage people to use the “cigar lounge” of voice comms and for the most part, there is always a smattering of different corps chatting it up.

As Mittens implies in almost every speech… Democracy doesn’t work in internet spaceships. One just has to look at my former alliance home of ME to see what happens when competent leadership is elected to run the alliance… They promptly vote the competent leader out of office and replace him with a megalomania-induced sycophants.* (There are many parallels of Germany 1932 here but that’s for another post). That being said, from the beginning GENTS was going to go the road of a “benign dictatorship”. This has always been the Kesper (and Lake) show and always will be. Corp leadership is more like an advisory committee to which Kesper can call on when needed.

In any dictatorship, there still has to be people to do the work. Interesting enough GENTS has some fantastic talent and effort is made to split the load “fairly” between the corps. No favorites, everyone has to do some shitty logistics thing for the alliance.

“Goodfights” are the lifeblood of keeping people logging in. GENTS has known and recognized Supercap/CAP/subcap FC’s. Even though we are culturally a bit more “refined” (We don’t generally shit up local and our voice comms are fun and relaxed. However don’t be surprised to hear Tradik yell “STFU” occasionally) than our TEST/Goon bro’s, they still compliment our FC’s in how the fleet was lead. We have some good FC talent in the “roaming” fleets (5-20 guys rolling through). People want to log in see some gf’s around and roll in a fleet. We try to keep station spinning to a minimum.
No alliance is perfect and you don’t have to read very far in these forums to read all about them. What I find interesting is what seems to be working. From what I can tell it revolves around 4 things.

Tldr

-********* Spread the workload. No favorites.
-********* Lots of “goodfights”/competent FC’s.

There is a old saying, "Time creates a barrier to insult". Meaning that although PRAX has somewhat different culture most people realize that for the most part, we are no different than them. We just have more bittervets. Of those bittervets the fact they still log in and are "competent" provides much in the "forgiveness of sins". Also we have worked hard to create more of a buffer inside the corp and through the alliance chain of command to... Uhh... "shield" the more easily offended. Seems to be working better now that we are out of the "create an alliance, take space, move shit, settle, then take space again, move shit, etc"... We seem to be hitting our stride...
