Well as for blues, we felt in the whole Scalding Pass wars, 401k and THORN are the underdog , with their struggle to even get in abaddons, so we figured would be much more fun to shoot at IMP-L, IRC and such rather than shoot at a bunch of duders that would prolly give us one fight and then avoid us for 3 weeks. Then the whole Scalding Pass campaign went on hold cos Unthinkables cheated and brought 30 tengus which sent 401k for a vacation in geminate where apparently the oxygen content in the air is higher and you can figure out faster how to deal with 30 tengus. As for getting pissed drunk and crashing the napfest, we never plan on that, just seems to happen all around us
Regarding the AT, with me and Tek coming back in march or so, with us recruiting a bunch of new awesome guys and implementing a lot of new fits and doctrines, we didn't feel we would be a cohesive enough team this year. Also, though it might not show in our attitude, most of our guys are 30+ with kids, wives, 12 hrs/day jobs, etc, so even finding time for practice would've been a nightmare. However if we don't failcascade in to a sea of alcohool and drama by next year, we are tempted to give it a go.

We got word that Saturday night would see the return of Retirement Club and commencement of their second round of structure bashing against the empire of Imperial Legion. We decided to also form up at the same time and wait and watch to see where they went and hit, they decided to SBU HJ- and a few surrounding systems http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Scalding_Pass/HJ-BCH -- Most the systems are unused largely due to the proximity to Curse, but a cool system to fight over within range of all parties involved. In came the flagship fleet of muninns and associated support I gather in the 50-70 man fleet range, with THORN bringing an alpha tornado fleet.
Having formed up almost 100 dudes in our fleet for probably the first time ever, we were confident but knew that they had gained more numbers during their break and 401K alone already outnumbered INK by over 2:1 on paper and fully aware of the Drunk'N'Disorderly dudes who had appeared with a fleet that looks like it was copied direct from the Rooks & Kings killboard - Navy Issue Geddons/navpocs, triage and other expensive boats.
An hour or so after formup we finally bridged in 200km from their fleet at the IHUB where our FC promptly didnt load grid at all, no worries though, all hostile fleets warped off to safe positions in system, our FC reloaded and we took the fleet to one of the SBU's and waited for our fight. Eventually the stars aligned and in they came. THORN's tornado fleet came in at range and immediately alpha a single sabre and leave, seconds later the muninn fleet comes in at 0km to our tengus. No real way to say it without sounding like a twat, Muninns do not stand up to tengus very well and it went well for us in the initial 2 minutes. A cyno went up and in came DND with triage and battleships as expected, unfortunately the Muninn fleet opted to leave the field leaving us alone to plink away at the triage they had brought in and keep range from the fist of faction rape.
We held the field and started killing SBU's while we stuck around to see if they would reform another fleet to go again which they did but they bridged in and sat at a safe POS. At this point we left because it aint our system and I think deep down we would prefer a timer as it means more fun for everyone involved, it was re-SBU'ed in the US timezone and we will go again today, tomorrow and probably for the next fortnight.

During the US TZ, HJ- was again SBU'ed but presumably the lateness after they had onlined meant even the US TZ could not be bothered to RF it and the call was made to form a fleet to knock it into RF at 1800. In a straight up copy of last night we formed again at the same time, same ship and waited with Retirement Club already having us scouted although we are being fairly predictable at this point.
In went Retirement Club rocking an abaddon fleet this time again supported by a THORN tornado fleet where they chilled at their POS for a few minutes, after a few minutes they move to the IHUB and in another copy we bridge in at 200km on the IHUB and their fleet and they warp off immediately. We go to the SBU again, commence structure grinding and wait for the fight.
In it comes and we have a better fight today, the first 2-3 minutes we struggle to break reps as we make for range in our non-coward 10mn tengus and our own logistics unit test their ECCM heavily. Eventually we break down a couple guardians and as you would expect in a fight with such close numbers the loss of even a few logistics tipped the balance, it is at this point the triage carrier + 2 RR carriers come in to try and even it out but we had range and rhythm and they had lost too much of their DPS and logistics to pull it back. Two of the carriers went down and a single thanatos escaped, a small rescue attempt was made for the second carrier and kill a stray tengu but it was too late.
At this point we loot the field and kill the 3 SBU's required and leave 3 up to save everyone the effort for next time. Maybe just 4 SBU's total please Retirement Club, 6 is just wasting everyones time.We hold our alliance meeting while we grind SBU's saving everyone precious time and we make it home in time to watch the AT final.
Arguably it was not really a fair fight, 401K is fighting outnumbered up close with a tengu fleet but 1/3 of the 401K numbers are made up of the THORN tornado fleet which wasn't too effective. Very cool of them to bring the fight. These very even numbered fights are rare, fleet doctrine choices aside. Usually a bigger party has turned up and ruined the party by this point, but I am sure one will appear to dickstomp the fun.

So the primary issue we keep having is poor coordination with the Thorn fleet. That said though, most of todays fail was poor coordination and a poor calls by our command. If u would like better cordination in fleets i suggest u teach FC's to not get kited by armor HACS in Munins. If u would like to down play anyone i think u should look internally at what u bring to the table. It is Tengus that they will continue bringing, and it is Tengus that they will continue to bring until u beat the fuck up out them therefore use what u have to your advantage and sit down with your blues and figure out what will work. We're experimenting with new things the hard way. Isn't that half of what learning and adapting is?
And the problem is easy to rectify by throwing more money at it - I could easily fund half a Tengu fleet from my own pocket, let alone hitting up Shiva for cash (or heaven forbid knocking on Evols door for some cash). The only other real alternative that's been presented to me is the use of Sentry Carriers (slowcats?) as a means of combating Tengu fleets, but again, that's just throwing money at the problem.
However that's not the way we decided to do it in this alliance. It's easy to prop others along and carry their weight, but unfortunately the more you do that, the more it creates a disparity between your own guys. We're working hard to get everyone on the same logistical footing and with equal corp responsibility distribution such that the alliance is more future proof.
I understand your concern about us hemmorhaging cash, and it's certainly something we are keeping in mind. But really, one 13ish Billion ISK welp is hardly setting us back by much. That said, we're constantly looking at alternative strategies, but really, we need to try each idea out before moving to the next one (currently we're at 1 welp, idea number 3 lol).

If only this game had some kind of cheap ships that could move considerably faster than 10AB tengus, do a lot of EM damage, and pack enough neuting power to instantly switch off the primary's hardeners and sig tank when applied en masse. If only you could get hold of some ships like that, all you'd need would be one good warp-in and you could slaughter your enemy's tengus by the dozen while giggling as they trade their expensive T3s and SP for your shitty disposable ships.
