While there is an element of truth to what you are saying I think the issue was more down to the NC becoming far too bloated and over-confident. The bigger it got, the looser the ties got from alliance to alliance and what you end up with is a coalition without a formal chain of command, literally spineless. Sure there was bickering and disagreements but you have that in any coalition. The bigger issue was over-confidence and arrogance born of years of being the Kings of the North (TM) and the lack of any direction of where it could go next.
Meh, the end result is the same. Any EUTZ corps out there looking for an NC grunt who can't fly shit for shit? Goons? Please? FML.

The sneaking inevitability began after round 8 in this meatgrinder. That was the tuning point, and the last time the NC went on the attack. I dare say more ships died in fleet battles in 020 than anywhere else combined during this war. 8 rounds of slaughter, each one bigger than any other during the entire war.Well, its been a fun war for the most part. Hoped this wouldn't be how it would turn out, but theres been a sneaking inevitability ever since ZLZ. Regardless what some might say, the guys on the front line tried damn hard, and the same folks were continually x'ing up to put their shit on the line. But ultimatly, given what they were faced with, the opportunities that weren't taken, and some of the systematic failings that gave the enemy openings they never should have been given, they were always backed against the wall.
Theres still plenty to do for both sides, but with the various fractioning of the NC/DC relations, we are moving into a different phase of the war. So, seems a good a time as any to post a final score:

020, without a doubt, broke NC's back. Pilot trust in their FC's collapsed. Super pilots began to think twice before x'ing up. NC began to realize that it could no longer blot out the sun with numbers and force the servers to come crashing down - which drastically reduced participation by carebears out for a little adrenaline with minimal risk. And of course, a few days after the last big slugfest, PL was hired, making the NC forget it had any balls in the first place.
But perhaps the most important point was that NC really killed itself. It turned out BFF's weren't really BFF's. People began looking at participation numbers from different alliances. If once alliance had less than it should, and they almost all did, people would point that out. Many alliances, such as Stellar, Gypsies e.t.c., who were very active in the early days of 020 just stopped showing up altogether, killing morale. MM meanwhile began public declarations of who really was a BFF and who wasn't, alienating smaller alliances. Slowly, these inter-NC cracks widened and culminated in NC basically abandoning RAGE and ME, losing at least 40% of their real fleet numbers. This all put the NC into panic, alliances realized that they could be killed off despite apparently being a BFF, it was the collapse of the NC culture - the only thing that kept them going so long.
As for all the "well NC isn't beaten yet" and "sleeping beast blah blah" nonsense we've had for the last two months, that was desperation on the part of NC and disbelief that it could have been so easy on the side of everyone else.
Truly, this war was a brilliant example of Julius Caesar's "divide and conquer". Ironically though, NC did the dividing.
Pays for itself in a day, thankfully. We were taking tech off the NC back when they weren't a rotting corpse - grabbing a couple of towers and holding them for long enough to make a profit is something we've had practice at.
Also, nice thing about NPC 0.0 is that there's not a whole lot of costs that require income - apart from office costs, which are up to 1.3bil a pop in K3 at the moment.

All my hate against them came from their nature of blobbing and smacking - those 2 things together were a giant hate bomb in my mind, which forced me and gave me the will to harass and kill the faggots on any occassion and method I was able to do. I really feel sorry for the typical NC member tbh. Last night they did their best to all get in ships, sometimes coming back in new ships, and they got ready to defend their home. The only people to blame for their downfall is the NC leadership. With good leadership you can train concubines into soldiers, and Sun Tzu jokes aside it was totally possible to do from the very beginning. I just wish someone on their TS would have told their leaders "Fuck it, if you're too scared then I'm jumping in and fighting", or if some closet FC decided to take the reigns. They had more than enough potential to defend themselves and it's their leaders that let them down, while getting away with all the isk.
Now I just hope that once this is all over the new NC will reset themselves, with or without a NIP, to keep the fat trimmed and pvpers always ready for action. The problem with the NC is the same that happened to many empires IRL, it's actually quite amazing to see the similarities.

As one of those grunts who wasn't just in it for the carebearing, it was demoralising as fuck fleeting up night after night knowing you'd be flying under LordDragon or Kula Kain or whatever, safe in the knowledge you would were about to be welped. The alternative was to sit up in Branch or whatever and rat like mad while our brosefs got fucked on the front line by incompetent leadership. Had to believe that somehow, fucking ship after ship against the Great Red Horde would offer us a glimmer of hope in this war and that Vuk had his eyes on a bigger plan. Wasn't to be.

A Poor FC is worse than no FC at all. They tend to squat there, convinced of their own awesomeness. It's difficult for someone new to step up in such circumstances because the average pilot in the alliance naturally tends to assume that who ever is trying to step up must be worse than the already crap FC in place.
NC has got the same syndrom that ATLAS had before it crumbled. Leadership is more intressting in Pet-program, renting and make isk then focusing on its core "value". The core value is what got them space from the beginning, PVP and keep your fighting force happy.
When this happend to Atlas (after MAX2) I wrote a long rage corpmail explaing what will happen if ATLAS dident change their course of action and resett everything and ignore pets. It dident happen and I left for low-sec and months later Atlas was dead..
Sorry Vuk, you should reset most of your blues when MAX2 failed or atleas when ATLAS died and this wouldnt probobly have happend.
