The Forces of Smugness coming to Delve

JP4-AA Part Tree - Wafflecide - or Wafflenasia....

As the PL/TEST coalition engaged the Legions on S2N/T2N waffles were going about their normal business of dropping bombs and whoring on mails.
It began normally, we tried a nice sneaky trick of bridging in with Nulli as to avoid spiking local, with mixed results, while we may have gained the element of surprise, we blew it all when someone DCed and uncloaked our 30 bombers at their perch.... Meanwhile TEST makes a 5 man bomber run loses three bombers and PL continues to not use gates and jump into system 160km from Nulli.... Like Heroes. Warp games ensue with both fleets trying to get the better of the other... wrik hoover just missed making a hero bubble by fractions of a meter (it even looked like some of them hit the edge of the bubble.

Finally Nulli gets a very nice warp in probably about 30km from PL and the fight heads on as both sides proceed to tackle and grab each other.... TEST makes another run, which lands this time but really doesn't do more then superficial damage... the fleets engaged, TEST hero tackle squad warps in and proceeds to tackle/in the maels in place.... Waffles mistake this for a bomb run.... and try to capitalize on the extra damage... we get about 3-4 ships with the run, and manage to bomb the TEST fleet for the first time.

Alright round two.... we wait a few more minutes and get a nice warp in.... warp, drop, hits! We nail a lot of Nulli BS, and once again... bomb TEST, this time getting a few drakes in the process. by this point theres enough tackle on the field to skin a pluck a tail feather of a chicken and we lose a bomber.... meanwhile the fight continues to be a slugfest Nulli is really holding their own against the PL fleet, so we manage to get in a third run... with mixed results.... as we drop our loads though, nulli breaks and runs.... we tackle a few, some TEST try and tackle us, but at this point, fights over.

NOW THE FUN BEGINS.....

Waffles fan out searching for DCed ships and people trying to bounce celestials and so forth... we happened upon a lone Blood Raider faction spawn.... killed it and surprise, surprise, Dark Blood EANM, Thermic hardener, and a Talisman.... nice drop, were feeling pretty smug.... and suddenly a wild maelstrom appears.... we start burning for it... and it warps.

Anyhow we got back to a perch and a S2N flycatcher appears about 1000 off of us.... our fearless leader warps us down and we proceed to try and tackle it....

This is when things go down hill quick, We manage to get tackle on it... but one of our brilliant waffles launches his last bomb.... keeping perfect time with the 8 bombers chasing the flycatcher... Boom.... Waffle bomber fleet vanishes in a sheet of flame and doomed hopes... Meanwhile, a TEST bomber warps in and drops his bomb... straight onto the now sitting pods.... the vaporize along with the 100 mil worth of faction loot, and the hopes and dreams of waffles everywhere....

I had expected to be told about bombing runs, because the TEST bomber fleet was about, albeit with a new FC trying his hand, so your first bombing run confused the shit outta me. Not bad runs though; we were sat at like 5km~ off most maels and didn't take all that much damage, but not that many bombs, so v0v. I'm also mildly irritated that some of my tackle fleet grabbed one of your bombers, I told them to point worthwhile targets

They grabbed more, but because the DPS was meh, most of us were able to burn off and get away... only to later die to our own bomb

We lost more Rokhs this fight than all the previous fights combined, and not surprisingly it's the first time Nulli stayed on field to fight for more than 5 minutes. At least they realized that we'd get our pound of flesh regardless, so may as well go down fighting. Day 1 we lost 0 Rokhs and killed 50 Maels. Day 2 we lost 11 Rokhs and killed 55 Maels. Day 3 we lost 20 Rokhs and killed 60 Maels. It was a very fun fight, will write a proper BR a bit later.

Those Rokh fits had 238,000 EHP. Every time you think you have some sort of advantage against PL- they have something up their sleeves. Of course if we had a PL spy we would have known they changed their fit, but yeah, they have the metagaming advantage.

We have like 3 or 4 Rokh fittings now, for different situations, each one is pretty fucking badass in its own right, and it gives the ship the added bonus of surprise. Are we long range fit, do we have prop mods fit, do we have fuck off brick tanks fit, ect ect.

The Abbadon will always be my favorite BS because its a fucking pittbull in space, but the Rokh is probably my second favorite because its pretty god damn flexible in what it can allow itself.

Yeah, I love the idea as a way to semi counter alphafleet; when I was told about it beforehand, as the reason a tackle fleet was needed, I was pretty impressed.

Yes we did, before they changed Rails Destro had theory crafted the Rohks, we tried them, they were ok, but not really better than Hellcats we were relying on at the time.

Rail changes made the ship infinitely more desirable.

Hence why I said semi; you still need to primary maels, and break reps on them as a matter of priority, it just means that they need more maels to alpha you than they would otherwise, which means that either they wont have enough to begin with, or you'll take down enough to neuter their entire fleet faster. You'll still take losses, and probably considerable ones, until that point is reached. After that you're golden, it just moves the threshold for alphafleet to be effective. I like it, I'd be mad as fuck trying to fight that.

To be more specific, we did it to get fights. If we wanted to invoke operation cereal urination, we'd have taken the station, the station next door which was also in final RF, and TCU'd them both. Nulli had the ability to reship, and we wanted to give them every opportunity to do so.

You did touch on something that I find really entertaining, the "especially -A-'s cereal" bit; -A- and -A-bros seem to think we have a special relationship with them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we've never had a bropact forged in foreverwars, never felt the heartache after having it broken, never tried to headshot LGK, and never fallen in love with the best friend. I mean, -A- are cool in that they recruited half the NC so they have some funny forum porn, but we only have room in our heart for one. Sorry

RF'd the Nulli JB tower in E-VK, came out tonight. I started forming about 13 minutes before it came out so you can bet your ass some serious planning and strategy went into it.

Nulli formed like, arty canes and about 15 scimmies, total fleet was around 50ish +/- 5 guys or so, and went to go rep the tower.

In scimmies.

Thirty minutes later after pinging wildly on IRC we'd pretty much maxed out at the standard 20 dudes that show up at any 1am EST op, and so I let waffles in fleet to pick up another 10 or so in paper thin shield tanked BCs to go with our currently running Rokhs only theme. Knowing Nulli's ability to flash form 180 fucking guys like it ain't no thing I poked TEST to see who they had up at this hour and got them moving towards us.

They were like 5 out when we lit the cyno and bridged in 200 off the tower, aligning down and jumping into warp they never bothered to try and bubble us. We dumped enough ec-300's to blot out the sun and went to work, using the vulture as a secondary cyno to bring in the greasy ass Chimera I've been working out of all week.

45 dudes, 15 scimmies, and after 3 deaths and no kills they drew up in the tower and just sat staring at us. Test now held one out in about 40 ahacs, so now nulli were looking at fighting 70ish guys with 45. Around the time the cyno for the dreads went up Nulli decided that they didn't want that tower anyway and bailed.

Test gave a short chase while we finished off the tower, dropping a Domi and a Vulture.

Once home Nulli reshipped to Panic Geddons and jumped back into qy to bridge on us I guess, Penif was dumb and dropped into yet a 3rd cycle of siege, so its no like we weren't fucking stuck. Only when they jumped in their bridge titan logged off.

Still confused we sort penif, jump him out, and jump out the triage and start our no prop mod BS on their merry way home, meanwhile 33 Geddons sit chilling orbiting a gate.

Test runs an escalation, our Rokhs all meander safely home, and Progod sits asking Centra why we ran away in some random channel or skype.

I don't know if this all deserved a battle report, but the nights events were so fucking bizarre I thought i should record them in print before it all faded into some half forgotten memory that I assumed was a bad dream.

I was reading this Battle report and being a little smug- then got caught when a Sabre and Arazu decloaked and dragged us into a trap. Nulli promptly dropped triage carriers and a boatload of Geddons landing on us. My Damnation.
