I used to be in test so I like to check up on them.......and by check up I mean kill them. Not only do I get to talk to some people I know but I can also get some GF's. Say what you want about how bad they are but there is one thing they do right and that's undock to fight.

Best diplo I have ever seen was a Goon pos in the south along time ago. Some said it was a error in the coding other
knew better. That battle hardened pos had seen enuff fags to see into to our very soul. The pos shot at those that it
deemed unworthy of her presence regardless of blue standings or not. The Goons just stopped settings standings
at that point and told people to stand in front of the pos and be judged.

A-HACS are nice even in small numbers if you can find a gang that wont have 40 hugins or loki's. their small sig and 2 free mids are nice for setting up all kinds of cool options. I even find them more fun to FC there is a lot more to do then "warp to 0 welp fleet" (that ones for you S&L).

You guys have to have the SP and numbers to do A-HACS now.....shit you can even use munins if you have some people what SP there.

One of my bigger dissapointments of recent times is now the fact that I most likely wont get to participate in any draketrain fleets. I never got to talk to any of them and our hours just didnt jive, but I am sure that if I was able to get home and get drunk by like 11am it would have been magical. Also, Lacco seems like he would be a riot.

We haven't been facing many drakes/tengus fleet lately, from what I've seen, but I was reading the leaked PL forum and saw one tactic that they called DiscoCats or something that involved countering drake fleets with smartbombing command ships protecting their pests.

Well, I took the smartbombing concept and tried to apply it to TEST alphafleet vs Tengu fleets. TEST members have usually only a few million Skill Points, so using command ships to do this was out of the question. I thought of frigates and managed to fit a merlin with 4 Small EMP Smartbomb II in the highs and be cap stable. Gonna post the fit in the end of the thread. The idea is to get 1 of these frigs per 10 fleet members so you can blow up incomming missiles, reducing enemy dps considerably. In a battle, this would work basically like this:

When alphafleet warps at range to the enemy fleet, only 3-4 of these frigs would burn towards the enemy, and after they locked on a primary, 1 frig would burn back straight at the fleetmate being primaried and set range of 3km away from him, a second frig set range of 6km away from the first frig and so on. They would activate smartbombs separately, 1 seconds after the other SB's cycle started. If alphafleet is aligned away from the enemy, this becomes even easier to do.

If the first couple frigs get blown up, the rest of the fleets that would be with the fleet, smartbombing drones, would burn to the enemy and do the same thing as the first ones, burn back to the primaried fleetmember and set range.

From my test, a single merlin can blow up half of incomming dps from an enemy. I wanted to test with 2 frigs smartbombing, protecting a target, but the market wasn't seeded so I need to import them before the test, but based on PL's data and also from some calculations of my own, it can possibly blow up something around 70-90% incomming missiles. 3 frigs smartbombing at the same time can even improve this.

Now, enemy canes and other frigs can easily pop these merlins, so when against a tengu fleet, canes and frigs should be primaried or jammed first. ECM will have no trouble jamming these, as the smartbombing frigs have 2 empty med slots that can fit remote sensor boosters that will make brobirds insta lock nearly anything. Other solution to the canes and frigates is to warp the smartbombing frigs delayed.
If the frigs get primaried by the tengus, that will delay enemy dps on the main fleet, winning alphafleet precious time to alpha more ships. Here is the fit for the merlin with 4 SBs II in the highs, 2 remote sebos and cap stable. They are also pretty cheap, under 5 mil in 6vdt prices and the only extra skill you need to fly them is Energy Pulse Weapons to III, that takes around 9 hours from 0 to III in a character without implants:

I don't see the harm in theorycrafting every once in a while... ffs of course this idea is shit, but at least he's trying, So we explain to him why it doesn't work, who knows... maybe he'll try a well tanked cruiser like a maller out with armor fleets and use that as a firewall like this, or... I don't know, i'm not trying to validate the idea itself, but ideas are ideas, things get discussed, kinks get worked out, terrible thoughts get made fun of.

Now... if we tried this as anything but a lolfleet, ok... well deserved.

The only reason I posted this here and lambasted him in the process is because he was vehemently against any type of logical rigor when he posted it in general jabber and instead opted on the metaphysical properties of bad ideas to propel his theory into a reality. If he were being a really cute newbie or about it of course I would change the wording and context of my post entirely to reflect how adorable it is.
