After [s]dis[/s]honorably wiping out the TEST fleet, there was no DPS left on the field to finish off the Dread so we brought in one of our own super caps to complete the job.

Not sure if you caught the navy geddon who refused to die to test's indy ships? Yeah, we took care of that with the dread also in our thunderdome to the death.

Every ship brought was to die, by test's hands or ours. Who gives a fuck about pricing?

I could also extend the analogy to Origin taking almost the entire US TZ contingent of Mfume's old corp. Pretty much everyone went, you took a director, a WH and missions guy, and even the semi-afk guy (which really blew my mind). It doesn't really count because they weren't in FA at the time.

It's more that as you go up in the levels of leadership you lose the ability to redirect misguided efforts. Someone who flies a mixed beam and pulse laser Hurricane can almost always be convinced of it's ineffectiveness and will get better at the game with practice, most corporation CEOs can be brought around to spending ISK on the membership and the corporation itself will become better at what it does.

But who has ever turned around a somewhat crappy alliance? Not in the "-A- is shit" way, but I mean just a mess. The alliances themselves would rather vote their leader off the island (if they can) rather than change their way of doing business (Kesper North, Orphenshadow). The best example being the old NC. The one who hundreds of billions in technetium struggled to figure out a way to field a unfied fleet comp, even with GSF in comms with them and living next door and FCs who couldn't get dreads to attempt to fend off the invading supercap hordes.

Once those pieces were broken apart and redistributed to organizations with more effective leadership they didn't suddenly lose effectiveness. There was no upswing in the number of people bringing Caracals to the Abaddon fleet or a suddenly larger blackhole for alliance funds to fall into.
