Incarna / CQ usage poll

Personally I disabled Incarna across all accounts, speed and also its uselessness both being factors for me.

However with the CSM about to fly out to Iceland I was curious on some hard numbers on how many people actually adopted this feature and if not, why they turned it off.

as it is now makes no sense on WIS, and my pc is not able to handle CQ that much, so i turned it off. Yet i hope that there'll be some nice features coming up regarding Incarna.

Far to much fucking around. Earth and Beyond was good because you could haul ass around the stations. this dilly dally about bullshit needs a run button. At the moment its a big time (and resource hogging) timesink which is sad because it has huge potential.

What CCP should do is make an actual fucking PLAN for incarna, publish it and stick to it. If they give us a list of things that looks neat, then maybe some of the nerdrage will subside.

Until then, I've turned it off and I'm fuming about the functionality that's been lost.

My hardware is pretty old (phenom II X3, ati 4850) and couldn't run more than 3 clients in pvp anyway, and CQ didn't do shit all to change that. I have no fans spinning higher, temperature levels are roughly the same (it's a bit more than before when docked in station but that's to be expected when the new scene is vastly more complex) and in space things are working as before. The only difference is high load times when logging in in station/docking. So it stays on because it's prettier than what we had before (and because any lost functionality with this patch isn't in the static no-cq screen either). I think CQ wouldn't have been a problem at all if it had been sold as a small bonus tech demo of the great-things-to-come (TM) but instead they used it to launch a totally anemic noble store with hilarious price points.

I left it on because it doesnt really have an impact performance-wise, and it's a little bit more engaging than a static background. I even have sound enabled on my 2nd account w/ jita alt because I like the station ambience you can hear when you stand out on the docking platform

I have a Radeon Mobility HD 5870 GPU on my laptop (Asus G73jh), and I haven't had any increase in temps, even running two clients side-by-side in station, with graphics optimized for quality.

I'm running a Dell XPS with a GEFORCE 420M. Before this patch I could run three clients with plenty of horsepower left over and a burst of fan every once in a while. now I get lots more fan action and slightly more lag with only one client.

The docking/undocking delay was really annoying when I was moving my carriers from the north to parts south. I need to have both clients on a station and try that to see how much of the blackscreen time has be outside and bumpable.

I have it enabled for a couple of reasons:
-I prefer looking to the pretty cool avatars my GF designed rather than a blank screen
-it works fine for me (on core i5-760, 4gb DDR3 and Radeon 4850hd). I don't have the need to run more than 3 clients(usually 2) and I get a stable 30-35 FPS with 3 running

I would however switch it off in an instant if I could get ship spinning (and being able to see my active ship) back.

I can run my 2 accounts in my 2 monitors, docked, at the same time no problem. The gfx card fan goes into high gear, but apart from that, it's all good.

I actually keep it on because instead of ship spinning, I can actually kill time like I did in WoW (right before I realized I was done with it), walking around the major city of choice. Except in EvE I walk up and down a corridor and take laps around a sofa.

Nonstop fun.

I like the way it looks, but would prefer it to be optional. Say, another button in the lower left that says "disembark" or something like that. If you wouldn't push that you'd still have the old ship spinning view.
Besides that, for now, it's completely useless until we can really walk around in station. Looking forward to Jita 4-4 in-station-lag-fest.

E: I have it on on both of my clients and it does not effect my machine too much - something I expected from a GTX580 anyway and the alternative looks like shit.

My GPU runs about 10C hotter in the closet than in space, no real difference in performance when running 2 clients. Fans always ran when I'm gaming, so nothing new there.
Asus G72, Quad Core with GTX 260M. I might use CQ as an excuse to upgrade to a G74 if I can make my case to the 'ol wife.

I don't think most people have a problem running multiple accounts of CQ, maybe they do though I don't know. I can, but the reason I don't is A) It looks dumb, dumber then that fucking wall and I don't care about it, and B) It takes more resources and makes my GPU run a bit hot. One of the things I like about EvE is that I can run 3 accounts on all low (except high textures) and stay like +10 or so above idle temps. I do a lot of other things while playing EvE. Surf, watch movies, surf, play other games, and I'd imagine plenty of other people do too so EvE Being a resource hog is not something I want. If I had to play EvE and just eve I'd have to shoot myself in the face (I don't know how those people who play fullscreen do it).

Also higher temps are bad for your cpu/vid card :| The decrease life, and I also imagine that most people don't leave their computers on all the time and the temperatures constantly rising and then cooling will cause the solder to dry out and crack and you'll eventually lose the connection and you will have a "dead" part.

TLDR; You can run 3 EvEs with cq but it is more resource intensive and why? It sucks.

Setup: 6600 core duo oc to 3 Ghz, Zalman cooler, 6 gigs ram, ATI 5850

I never heard any fan noise when testing. First pic is idle, second is with one client,
third one is with 2 client. Was spinning chars in the stations like a lunatic to get
good results from the readings.




A modern GPU does not even break a sweat running this client it seems.
It just needs alot of ram and for God sakes vaccum your comp. I did it when I put
new ram in, it was full of crap. A nice trick is to use a big drinking straw and hold it
infront of the hose to get at those hard to get places.

20+ is too big of a spike for my liking, I like my GPU < 50 when running 3x EvE. And getting 55% usage on 2 accounts, say 60% on 3 accounts without spinning your chars like mad, where does that leave me with Dawn of War 3 while I'm making isk in EvE :< Not that DoW is optimized, why does everything run at 100% while at menus?

Only issue I have with CQ (my PC does fine with Incarna, I'm not poor) is the annoyance to do things that before were simple. Double-click to open cargo... oh, nope. Easiest way I've found is to open ship fitting, then right click ship, then open... Sometimes I forget what ship is active (typically on first log in) and I have to plod my way down the hall to look.

A lot of little things that just irk me. I really liked that dude's idea where when you dock you see what you did before, originally, then if you want you can hit a button and the camera pans back to the CQ. It just feels so.... pointless and bothersome. I could have sworn CCP said it wouldn't slow things down, yet... oh, I guess CCP says a lot, huh?

Looking forward to the results of this emergency CSM summoning.

Be smart and instead of buying a monocle keep your money for a new videocard. I just put 6870 in my poor PC and it changed nothing over the 5770. This is totally worth see my character walking 10m to the docking ramp. God I wish I could stab myself ingame and jump off the ramp.
