Gatlings don't spin to air-cool the barrels, they spin so that projectiles are fired sequentially from each barrel.
In a 6 barrel Gatling, a barrel will only shoot after 5 others have, if they were fired from a single barrel, it would literally melt. The air flow from the spinning is positive and certainly accounted for, but it's just a byproduct.
For example, the M134 has 6 barrels, and since its firing at 3000RPM (Rounds Per Minute), that means each barrel effectively operates at 500RPM. On a per-barrel basis, this makes an individual M134 barrel handle a lot less rounds than the MG-3's barrel (500 versus 1200).
This makes for superb overheating tolerance even while firing at vastly superior rates.
PEW PEW PEW
There's something appropriately depressing about just sitting in that fucking couch doing nothing, not even being able to spin your ship.
First i was shocked. But than i found the workaround to satisfy my ship-spinning addiction.
Just open the ship info and click on the ship picture. Than maximise the popup and start spinning.
Still not the same tho, like a nicotine patch![]()
I haz question. We can sit down but not lie down on that rather comfy looking bed? Explainz?
Oops i'm a dumbass and posted this in the wrong thread.
CURRENTLY TAKING REQUESTS FOR TROLLING SOUNDWAVE VIA MSN
So far he has been doing a rather admirable job of ignoring me :/
or maybe he's just been hiding in the office bathroom all day.

At this point the amount of fail CCP has produced leading up to Incarna deserves a thread of its own
Now they even banned Liang Nuren :O
Tippia next maybe?
I'm awaiting the banhammer myself. Making sure they don't have anything legitimate or even remotely so to use as a reason when I post. Yes, I do actually own the character Fix Lag in EVE. No, my account was mostly for forum trolling prior to this week.
As i posted in the other MT thread (we really need a dedicated thread for all this btw):
Make some trolling out of that plsOdd thing is that Stoffer Ninjapirate was involved in the threadnaught over the T20 scandal, now he (as CCP Soundwave) is repeating the actions he deplored only a few years ago... getting those people who blow the whistle banned.![]()
What did Liang Nuren get banned for? The forums are full of rage about it but i can't find out why.
And Tippia made an excellent summary of what is wrong. If you haven't seen it (wall of text warning): http://eve.beyondreality.se/NeXCQResponse.html
Edit: Ah OK, so Liang Nuren got banned for supporting Helicity Boson. It really is bad after this patch, isn't it?
An issue that was causing the log to produce blank results has been resolved.
YEEESSSS
+rep ;)
The mass hysteria surrounding this whole thing is amazing.
A lot of people don't seem to realize that the PLEX system means that microtransactions have implicitly existed in EVE for some time already.
For example: I've seen people complaining today that its the thin end of the wedge, and soon you'll be able to buy skillpoints for PLEX. Well, you can do that already: Buy plexes, sell them for isk then use the Character Bazaar.
And the most amazing thing of all is we all know it's not an advantge - we've all seen hilariously shitfit expensive lossmails piloted by characters that you'd judge should know better based on their date of birth. Most people go "bought the toon" and laugh.
Yet still people are crying like its the end of the world...
Hint: it's probably the final straw that broke the camel's back.
Nah, I'm pretty sure its mass hysteria. The rantings I've seen in various channels have been pretty crazy and with scant regard to anything approaching logic.
People are pissed about the direction the game is going, didn't like the stuff in the newsletter expose (esp CCP Soundwave's bit), and freaked out after a couple players got banned for being vocal and angry. Now Jita and Amarr are locked down, and Dodixie is already filling.
Whether you think they matter or not, this is pretty big.
It started in Egypt. Then Libya. Now it hits EVE. Let us overthrow our oppres - ohwait. Let's go shoot an invincible structure in space instead ^^
In other news....+1 to everyone locking systems downEVE players may be each other's worst enemy, but only we can screw each other over >.-
I'm going to highlight the funny bits thusly:
Pricing structure
People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them?
Yes, this.
That internal magazine (a magazine by CCPers for CCPers, not some kind of "official roadmap") has some rather explicit talk on CCP actually wanting to make money off EVE (no shit, sherlock). There is very little concrete stuff in there of anything coming for EVE that they haven't been talking about before.
DUST and WoD look rather pitiful, though.
People are going batshit insane for some reason. Mostly based on slippery slope arguments.
Well, them locking down the major hubs means this is virtually guaranteed to get all over the gaming news, and probably into a few articles in the real world. CCP ain't gonna like that.
(Also, lol at the clothing prices actually being serious :-D)
And the rage will continue.
I'm literally ODing on popcorn here.
The first section felt like they are trying to comfort the Eve community, but I can't help but feel CCP is going to continue development of MT behind our backs and reveal it further down the line after people calm down.
I found that whole section on pricing just hilarious to read it's just wow.
Well he never did state whether the idea non vanity MTs turned down or not. Just mentioned what we all knew that the document was a internal discussion.
This rage is pissing me off because its keeping me away from focusing on Perpetuum. Its just so funny watching CCP fuck up every step they make.
perpetuum is so bad. i'll prolly just do TF2 after the NOL fight
i like CCPs response though, it's basically just "fuck you, deal with it".
manly.
THE GREATEST POSTER
The best way to have an argument is to not bullshit the people paying you to argue. No offense, but the idea that they can casually discuss breaking a promise to not take this beyond vanity and then fill a newsletter with articles in favor and one dissenting voice and not get called on it is ridiculous.
who gives a shit about tophats or monocles or whatev, just someone get ccp to fix the titan bridge bug tia
Perpetuum does kind of suck now but only due to lack of content and polishing. It does show a lot of promise, similar to how Eve was when it first started out. Also the fact that its released only 7 months ago for a Indie Dev.
edit: we really need just 1 thread for all this shit. Getting kind of tired of jumping around 3 different topics on p much the same thing.
In related news SWG is shutting down.

Something that CCP should be taking a lesson from. The paths of SOE and CCP are starting to look very similar.
Zulu's blogpost is just... Man I don't... The hell is this? Whenever CCP mucked somtheing up before I've always gone "hoho these guys don't know what they are doing hohoho" but sweet baby jesus wept. That guy has completely lost the plot.
Another dirty little secret that's not getting much attention is how they removed the ability of folks with older (2+) laptops to play the game (even a little bit)
CCP in March - Shader 2 is all you need.. http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=882 Shader 3 application tool even to check (I passed)
CCP June 14th... http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=922 "This simple option will primarily benefit players with Nvidia 6000 series, or low-end 7000 series cards or compatible hardware, trying to run multiple clients while docked." I have one of the 6000 series card
CCP undated Minimum System Requirments.. http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/K...le.aspx?id=124 Video:ATI X1600 or NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT or higher with 128 MB of Video RAM*
Somewhere there was a count of roughly 9000 users who would be affected by the SP2 support going away. I can't even get to the log in screen with a system that meets the June 14th requirements to turn off CQ.
I'm pretty sure I'm not alone, and fuck me if I'm buying a new pc at the moment to play "walking in stations" Betting the number of users is closer to 30,000 than 9,000 that need new hardware.
Why do I have to have my EVE look like shit just because some poor scrublords cant upgrade their shit?
I had a nvid 7950 for 5 years before I bought my ati 5850 more then a year ago. I dont remember date that much.
But arent these long outdated cards you guys are whining about?
