It's a few years old now, but worth the read still.
It also includes helpful tips on making the Serenity Client display most things in English.

I suspect it would be more interesting to see how much things are the same (2 large powerblocs control all of 0.0, overrun with bots)
As i understand it there are several large powerblocs with buffers that split them up
If anyone is interested in trying this out in the future, how about we set up a Kugutsumen corp? We'd probably have to minimise interaction with the chinese speaking players, save for through translators, to avoid being caught and use teamspeak alot but I'd be down with checking it out, simply out of curiousity. Although if the publisher is anything like CCP such measures would be unnecessary

I really do like this thread, and I wish there was a similar thread for russian politics in EVE, but I hear those are even bizarre and foreign to russians who play eve.
I can't imagine how you convince players to sit on a gate with cargo scanners and blow up blue freighters full of drone poo.
On TQ, just telling them that it's OK would be enough.
Not really. Sitting on the gate wating for the off chance that an unsanctioned hauler full of alloys is going to present himself to be scanned and thus blown up ranks up there with watching grass grow. Who's going to do that when they'd have more pew pew setting up on a gate that has red traffic, or going on a roam?
I think this is another example of cultural difference. On TQ what is the incentive of spending your time guarding a star gate from blue haulers exiting with contraband cargo? There's no isk in it. Killmails? It's rare that someone in Cobalt Edge drags the alloys up to empire to make more ISK then he would selling it to the alliance. Too much effort. The alliance pays well and anyone in drone regions knows that the alloys need to stay in the region or local ship production goes poof. So once in a blue moon would the guards get the chance to blast a blue for a killmail. The novelty wore off in the time it took them to set up on the gate.
Perhaps the communist mind set of for the "greater good" means that if a CEO/Director tells you that thursday is your "duty day" you log on and guard the gate. Maybe that's why the Russians are in drone regions.
Of course if you told Goons to guard the gate in this maner you would have 20 blasted haulers before you had the chance to explain to them that they are only allowed to blast blue haulers with contraband in the cargo hold.
It doesn't have to be perfect, just enough of a deterrent to shift the cost:benefit ratio in favor of conforming. And they could sit on the same bottlenecks that reds have to use, so the only difference is one person has to fit a cargo scanner.
The deterrent is that if you're caught doing it, you get ejected out of the allinace.
The bigger deterrent is showing up on comedy killmails with cargo scanner instead of a web or a point.
More to the point is that my alliance doesn't use gate guards. That being said, do Chinese allinaces have much higher turnouts for a CTA baised on the fact that they have pilots willing to sit on the gate and guard against exportation of illegal goods? Well, they are all in pretty much the same time zone so I'm sure that helps but I'm guessing they have, on average (per capita?) more pilots show up for an op.
I would love more interaction with some of these Chinese players. Not so that I can have a "your doing it wrong" fight but rather learn more about how they do things and find ways to improve our own methods.

I'd love to hear a little about the chinese politics on the TQ server. I spent a good 2 months hunting chinese players in Delve because I assumed they were all isk farmers. After a while I started to talk with some of them and even consider some to be space friends. With that said, I still do not understand chinese players. They will shoot each other regardless of standings, even if they are in the same corp. Chinese players are very quick to bad mouth other chinese players, usually with accusations of the other being an isk farmer.
I have found some damn good pvpers who are chinese (sup Huoduo, you son of a bitch lol) that would do very well in an established corp or alliance. Honestly though, I still believe a decent amount of the ones I have encountered are involved in some form of isk farming/rmt. Not as much as I did prior to talking with some of them, but the still the signs are there for more than a few. Anyway I have sent Water Sky a mail telling him to come back and update this thread.
