On page 87 of this thread about how the NC is dead and people are evaccing, what exactly is there that's so much more interesting? The argument about whether or not supercaps are overpowered? Because I personally find that debate riveting, especially when there's 4 pages a day of sperg about it.

Those aggression mechanics show what is really at the core of the problem. Logoffski works because it takes too long to chew through the buffers. The multiplicative effect works because of those buffers as well as it takes too long to kill massed supercaps when they are doing their full damage in return while repping in the meantime. The buffers are why supercaps need to be brought in because it takes subcaps too long to chew through.
Here's the problem with using 3G as an example. IIRC NC's supercap fleet split approximately in half, with fifteen SCs repping the jammer while two, later three titans plus a handful of SCs went to the gate. Supercaps only become a problem when they push over the size required to self sustain against the enemy fleet. Fifteen Nyxes can probably sustain themselves against any subcap fleet; there's no indication that any were ever in danger while the jammer was online. It is not, however, enough to rape a subcap fleet with no tackle. The two titans and handful of supercaps at the gate were NOT self sustainable against what PL and friends brought, but thanks to the huge buffer supercaps have been given they also weren't in any real danger with the jammer up. When the third titan and some more supercaps arrived, they became self sustainable (a "supercap blob") and PL and friends stopped trying to kill them (kept them bubbled to hell though) and left them to quicken things at the jammer. Everything about the 3G fight follows from what has been known to people for months now - supercaps when blobbed don't have a counter besides more of themselves. Supercaps that AREN'T blobbing are not overpowered and die all the time. Caps and subcaps in blobs die to other shiptype formups all the time as well. Only supercaps have this issue.
NC committed supercaps piecemeal in this fight and did not mass them properly like PL and friends have successfully done. Imbalanced doesn't protect from incompetence. Put fifteen titans and fifty SCs on that jammer and see if PL and friends can bring enough subcaps to ever get it down.
Isn't this the same with a triage carrier/dread combo fleet? The counter for this is bring more DPS. Remove titans/supers from the field and this means more dreads and carriers.
Traditional EVE counter - bring more DPS. There's just nothing in the game bigger than a super, so people bring those to counter supers, cause you can't realistically bring in an organised 3000 man subcap fleet to deal with it.
Its not rocket science, its just the top of the food chain. Something's gotta be at the top.

Mittani has quoted himself many times saying the "NC were wise not to go against those odds". PL has a different attitude and is how they can happily go 70 vs 300 without batting an eyelid (without supers).
The thinkers in Eve won't do that, as on paper it makes no logical sense unless victory is assured.
e: after a few fights at the beginning Atlas went down the same. -A- saw what happened to Atlas and just imploded when we mentioned their space. There are no alamos, no last glorious stands in Eve. When PL does whelp a fleet or bunch of Supers they're considered stupid by the great thinkers who predicted such a disaster.

The members of the NC are not. So they aren't in fleet. Until fleets become "fun" the NC won't log in. Till people log in then you can't even begin to talk of tactics & strats.
The NC stopped being fun an so now they will die.
The most interesting part is now "what the political map will look like in 2-3 months"
When 8 months ago i where talking on the rmt thread about 200 supercap fleet, none believed me, since major fleet from a single alliance where Pl with 6-7 titan and 20-25 ms.

I think we were in a similar situation during the PB contract from molle. No we did not suicide 200 dreads but we didnt stand down either. We formed bombers for every CTA and tried to kill people bridging. We formed herocats and tried to snatch straggling supers (hero Fintroll almost succeeded in this once). Perhaps our success was moderate but at least people didnt get completely blueballed.
I'd leeroy 200 dreads into 75 supers if I had enough dictors and support --numerical superiority is always something the NC had, so yes, if they weren't cowards they could have killed supers. Sniper dreads aren't totally outdated.
That doesn't mean supers don't need a nerf though.
PL have been posting like Bob for at least a year and there are plenty of old Bobbits in lots of PL corps, not just NibbleTek (AJ Regard is one that springs to mind)
