What Mittani said was remotely correct, if you don't really examine the larger picture.

TCF folded and what was once 3 power blocks in the NC turned to two. The traditional 3 blocks could all run their own fleets and there was no need for BFF mixed fleets. Then with only RZR and MM, things started to dwindle. Goons came in, but goons have never really filled that 3rd posistion.

Goons Identity has also changed a lot, and people really don't acknowledge that. Goons no longer go just to fight. They are incredibly cautious and calculating in how they work. You don't see the goons in their old familiar wreckless state. Instead the actually think out their plans and aim to execute them. The problem is, they over think too much. ATM goons look good b/c there's literally no pressure on them. They have 1-2 odd tech moons to defend every other day and can do what they want. NC has 5 - 15 tech moons to defend and time correctly any given day. Goons also have no pressure on their home. NC can't move one system without threat of a hot drop.

So the goons sit back and smug a lot about how bad the NC looks w/o any idea what challenges the NC is under while they sit 20 jumps away in relative safety. This is by design. PL and DRF are intentionally trying to keep goons out of the loop and goons are not committing themselves into the fray. This works tremendously well.

Rydis is convinced it's a straight communication and planning problem on the NC's part. The truth is, under the old flags of BFFness, there was no need to tell goons about random fleets 24 hrs in advance. When delve was attacked, everyone acted on their own and supported each other towards a bigger goal. Right now, you have an NC blob trying to act as one and goons not doing anything unless it's preplanned or until you spend hrs waiting for them. Meanwhile, we get bashed in from 5 sides by people who are doing exactly what was done in delve, act independently and support each other when needed.

Goons say they're "helping a lot." I can count on 1 hand what this really means. I had a drawn out discussion with Rydis the other day about how committed goons are to really helping us. I pointed out the fact that it's a telling sign about goons when they have 0 eyes on any of the reds trying to hit us, 0 cyno pilots in tribute or venal, and every single time we try to get help from them, somehow we end up providing 100% of the cyno's and intel for their fleets. If you think burn out comes only from running your own fleet, try sorting out 2-3 extra fleets.

The IRC thing:

Goons made it very clear that they would not come to Vale/Geminate. Some people ignored their obvious warnings, I didn't. I offered goons up a fun alternative that would help us a bit: Put pressure on IRC's home. Some help was better than no help, and they agreed. In 3 weeks of engaging IRC, I personally dropped more SBU's and fought more fleet battles vs IRC with fun fleets than goons did in their "effort." So again, goons basically sat at home and defended 1-2 tech moons occasionally while we tried to defend vale, venal, tribute, and occasionally rzr had to go defend tenal.

What about Rage/ME:

Mixed fleets vs alliance fleets. Rage alone could field 250 in US TZ. ME can field about 80 in US TZ. Yet when any mixed fleet US TZ op was formed, a full MM/RZR/WI/MH/Fcon + ME/Rage fleet could barely top 250. How is that possible. It's called accountability. It's why I hate mixed fleeting with a passion.

PL coming in:

Before PL came into play, this was a stale mate. PL came in and gave DRF an extra 100-150 a night on US TZ and an additional 40-50 US TZ supers. This broke the balance on US TZ. Now we had 0 time zones where we had numerical advantage of Supers/Capitals w/o goons, and goons already said they would not come to Vale. PL broke the Balance of this fight which is why 2 regions fell so fast after they came up.

PL claim contract. Yet daily PL redefine their own contract terms and why they're really here. If you ever get in a channel with Shadoo, it's like watching a rolling wall of bullshit being typed. He constantly contradicts what he says and acts more smug than any 3 players combined about his role. PL are here to watch the NC break up. If you think it's for a contract, your wrong. PL have become WN pets. Their last 3 contracts have proven as much. They've literally been on contract with WN for about 11 months straight.

The one exception was a brief stint where they hit an undefended Delve to hit the only other group in game they do not like. They did this b/c at that time, they had nothing else to do. They had just lost all their space and were bleeding members daily. So for all of 3 months, they were an exception. Go back 3 more months and you'll find them back in the north still hitting Pure Blind. The old "friendship" hasn't existed for a long time.


NC. and Evoke:

Basically there's nothing else for them to do. There's only one red entity other than the NC for these two in the game, and they aren't big enough to try to take them on. So why not band wagon on the NC.


I dunno what you guys want or expect out of this war at this point. Tribute is not under direct attack unless we form fleets. Tenal is not under direct attack. Venal is b/c it's the easiest area to take w/o cyno jamming. Yesterday, the reds had 42 titans alone. With goons last sunday, we had a total of 23 titans.... On US TZ, I've seen 30 titans as of last week. We might get 17 b/t us and goons.

There's 6 well established alliances ATM taking on 2 with random wild card help from goons and PB. It is what it is. Mittanni blames everything but this fact. He keeps his guys at arms length of the NC rather than fully commit to the situation. WI and MH sit back b/c they can look to goons rather than to MM/RZR and risk less. In the end, that will either bite him in the ass or he'll not get attacked b/c MM/RZR are the stopping grounds.

Last Sunday, MM fielded 50 super caps, 8 titans, and another 80 caps. That was basically half of the entire capital fleet we fielded and about 2/3rds of the supers we fielded in a combined NC fleet. MM is still an incredibly powerful alliance. Take what's happening atm with a grain of salt, b/c stressing about it isn't worth the time.

We (Nulli) ran our first major op today after moving to the north. Our concept was ab shield hac's, namely zealots and ab vagas with some cerbs and curses tossed in. Moved out of our staging system with about 70 in fleet w/ 9 scimis and our gang boosters.

We first went to VFK and chilled for awhile, sending our tacklers to the surrounding systems to look for ratters while we waited for TEST/goons and company to possibly form a fleet for us. We stayed around there for about 15 minutes without anything major occurring, then we get intel that Evoke and NC are playing around 10 or so jumps out. We burn there but get held up by a small WI gang, and when we arrive the fight is already over and we had missed the party. We chilled on station for awhile, ganked a few locals and then got intel that Morsus Mihi and company was forming a shield bc fleet in H-W. Eager for a fight, we waited for them to form for a bit before heading out.

As we moved towards H-W their fleet swelled in numbers going from 50 to over 100 by the time we jumped in and warped to station. We waited a bit for them, shooting a few targets and preparing ourselves for what was sure to be a hard-fought contest. Just before the engagement, one of our scouts reports that a neighboring system has spiked, but before we can get more intel, the hostiles warp their bcs in on station at 70.

Fight begins in earnest, we concentrate on the hostiles undocking from station and manage to stay out of range of the majority of their fleets firepower. Logistics is holding- one of our cerbs takes more than 100,000 damage before dying to the hostile blob. As we're fighting, Goons jump in around 50 more and warp to the station.

The fight now becomes around ~170 versus our 70, and we kite around the edge of the field, focusing on tackle and ships that drift too close to us. We ping off for a better position, but our new position put us too close to the hostiles. At just 20km away, we start to burn away as fast as possible, but the enemies dps and such at close range overpowers our reps and we start to loose HAC's at a much faster pace. Also during this, our tackle was lol dying. We are still killing hostiles, but slower and slower as more of our fleet dies. Eventually we overload and burn out, as the blob and firepower has become too much for us to tank. We degaress and warp to a gate and run.

It was a good fight, we didn't expect the 50 man GS gang as well. I think they were calling separate targets from the MM gang- as our logistics reported split targets. Some of our HAC's tank very well, but some pretty much loldied. It wasn't a dramatic victory, but we managed to come out close to even on the S2N boards efficeny wise. For our first op up here, I think I speak for most of us when I say it was a gf, and there were plenty of "welcome to the north" snickers in fleet chat in response to the blob.
