Formed up in VFK in canes / scimmies hoping to hotdrop something. Some towers coming out of RF, so chance of welp / self welp. FC ordered everyone to go to go buy 3000 barrage so we could shoot pos in case we had to. We arrive in system, no hostiles, warp to large pos, realise it was Amarr, went *sigh*, then killed it anyway, and put up our own.
Cyno went up, Caps at midpoint or something. Abaddons bridged in though, so warped in and killed some PL sub caps, mostly got out when supers arrived. We sat at a pos for a while, then 300km from their cap fleet as they destroyed tower we put up, and 1 second later, some FA dude puts up another tower. Hero. Can't shoot at on-lining tower, so PL caps started warping to their pos. We catch a few abaddons and some Archons in a bubble. They go down fast, as the rest of their fleet arrived on grid. We bail back to the safety of the pos, and they do the same. They go home, and so do we.
During all this, canes were dying left right and center, and some command ships got DD'ed. Was lots of fun, would come again.
From what I have been told, they are going to do their own thing, they left MH because of problems with leadership, constant CTA's, not being able to do what they were told they would be able to do etc.
Joining FA seemed like a good match at the time, and I'm told it was, but as Zag decided to take the Alliance in a different direction, the corp membership voted with their log-in, VC started to notice a decline in participation after a promising start, deciding that corp morale was something that had to be addressed, action was taken.
So they have parted company with FA, as they really don't want to go back to fade, having recently left there, I don't think there was too much drama about it in the end, just a corp wanting to go in a different direction than the alliance they were in.
From what I can gather that's it really.

Archons are shield reppers, rite? You can post it in comedy killmails, but it reps a small pos just as well as a thanny or chimera and if you get DD'd it doesn't really matter much what your fitting is.
God I wish you'd have killed that pos.

A weekend update. Ended up being rather long and could probably stand some editing but it's past 3am. Feel free to skim.
Friday:
Friday saw LAWN pilots emptying hangars of odds and ends and fleeting up for a marathon 4+ hour POS shoot in BDV in which even Gallente battleships were allowed to sit down at the grownup's table, although the mysteries of flatware seemed to escape the understanding of more than a few of these pastoral, benighted souls. With ROIR scouted and keen gnome ears pricked for the first sign of danger the POS shoot proceeded swimmingly as grizzled leader gnomes argued the snares and pitfalls of universal gnomic hegemony. Elsewhere in the universe, our brothers-in-arms Fatal Ascension were employed in a similar task in Fade, hitting a moon belonging to the dreaded Pandemic Legion, whose shadow all young gnomes soon learn to scatter from.
FA drew the eyes of Elise Randolph with their op which was aimed at one of Elise's personal towers. PL formed up supers and got ready to jump in but found out a bit belatedly that the system was jammed. They reshipped to Tempests, bridged in and messed around a little while but jumped their titan in on the original cyno and bridged back. FA continued to shoot pos as PL reshipped to tengus. Despite sage council from well-meaning jabber luminaries, Zagdul doesn't afraid of anything and engages the Tengu fleet with his mixed battleships. Much rejoicing and fun was had on both sides, however pluck was no match for the terrible Tengus this time and Zagdul's fleet was decimated.
LAWN finished reinforcing the tower without issue but the assumed 1d 10h timer which proved true for every single other ev0ke tower in Pure Blind was instead set to 1d 4h, giving us an excellent timer for our 1 Hawaiian dude. Welp.
Saturday:
Saturday was mostly a day of rest with some roaming gangs doing their thing as we waited for the early AM Sunday timer.
Sunday:
Early Sunday morning the Ev0ke POS came out of reinforcement under the watchful eye of Admiral Frools - a known associate of the notorious rake Elise Randolph. Undaunted, LAWN formed up in various random high-dps battleships and bombers and proceeded to lay into the cleverly-named Amarr tower, "Fuck Gnomes, tbh". Numbers in ROIR began to climb and a titan logged in which began to gather abaddons around it as an unwashed child attracts flies. Reading the writing on the wall, which by now was glowing and sending off little bursts of sparks with Elise himself spotted in system in a Devoter, the fleet was ordered to align to a safe pos and manually warp when anything was spotted incoming on d-scan. I tabbed over to my ROIR scout at an inopportune moment just as Elise was spotted on scan. By the time I tabbed back to Petyr and initiated a fleet warp the evil ones were upon us and my professional 5-heatsink conflag apoc was reduced to its component quarks in a sadly anticlimactic fizzle. Several lesser Matari battleships were also lost but the majority of the fleet made it to safety.
Those who lost ships or were still in battleships reshipped into bombers and proceeded to peck and scratch at the tower as the abaddon fleet returned to ROIR. Grath Telkin and several lesser beings returned with a gang of 4 t3 and made runs on individual bombers and offered to sell us the time to destroy the tower unmolested. Hah. With no titans online in ROIR I ordered a reship to LR bcs to engage the t3s, but it became apparent that we had no tackle recons and only 1 interceptor so at 4am EST the op was called. Ev0ke had no stronter in system and PL did not seem keen to rep the tower in any case.
After a modest 6-hour rest I returned and formed a bomber fleet with the tower having passively regenerated approximately 35-40% of its shields. 30 LAWN bombers, (and one very confused controlled chaos guy) eventually destroyed the tower after a 90-minute contest with boredom. In the beginning Elise was there watching us, but the attention spans of leet pvp are short and he logged shortly before the tower died. The spectre of PL supers loomed large, and we anchored a small POS to give them the shortest possible formup window, a gambit which proved its worth when Elise logged on in-system just 5 minutes after our tower went online.
An hour or so later Welpfleet went on a roadtrip to fountain, which ended up being one of the most enjoyable fights I've had in the last several months. I joined late and wasn't really paying attention to command channels though, so I'll leave that story for others to tell. While off dancing between the hammer and anvil of Ev0ke tengus and MM hml sacs, PL took the opportunity to reinforce our small POS before a stronter could reach it and we ended up with another very late NA timer.
Monday:
The POS came out at 0450, LAWN forming up at 0415, mostly in shield-repping archons (downscats), with a smattering of shield logi. Earlier in the evening FA and Goons scored a minor coup by dropping welpfleet on a small PL super/cap fleet and killing 4 archons. Expecting an irate Elise to look for a little revenge at our expense I had everyone not in a carrier, logi, or scout to fly a cyno hictor, dictor, or cyno-frigate. The stage was set, some banter was exchanged in local, and a welpfleet was assembled on a titan in VFK.
Downscats are not much to look at, and they do make the k/d ratio oldguard snicker behind their hands when they look at your killboard, but they can rep some small POS. Needing only 4 minutes to repair the requisite 2.8m hp our fleet began its work; PL was off repping some other tower - then they were getting dropped by the VFK fleet, which chased them into ROIR. With that barrier withdrawn, PL took the opportunity to drop supers into BDV, annihilating 3 of our 5 carriers with doomsdays. The two carriers lucky enough not to have drawn the gaze of a titan retreated into the POS shields, warped off to a large POS and then jumped out. Dictors dove in and out of the mass of supers and dropped bubbles by the brace as the fleet in ROIR raced back to get on their titan and bridge in. Alas, reships were slow and dictors were dying by the bushel. All bubbles were cleared before welpfleet could get into position and PL warped off to their safe POS. PL deigned to ignore the benighted tower, requiring that tired gnomes continue to rep the small pos with only the logistics ships remaining on the field, eventually reaching the magical 50% and restronting the tower.
Thus was our weekend well-spent.

At this point more welpfleet are joining all the time, and Goons announce that shit is real and broadcast for cap fleet. For a while there it looked like we might get more fights, but faced with being welped twice already and now we might drop caps on them as well, PL bails out

I mean, personally, I lost an abbadon, then jumped an Avatar into the middle of a hurricane blob, I don't ever remember running from anything, the field cleared, we calmly warped in pairs to the safe tower, and then sat around for 20 minutes while us fat asses capped up.
I also don't get the 'welped twice' bit, as I was in the entire fight and it never really felt like any particular side got its ass kicked. I mean, jumping 40 naked abbadons into 200 plus hurricanes and only losing 21 of them is pretty fucking good in my book, and on your end soaking losing 70 bcs for the trade of 4 carriers and a few bs doesn't sound that bad either, I'm just trying to get my head around where we got 'welped', as I just don't see it.
Is this one of those "strategic objectives" things that viper talked about that one time that I never seem to get?

Well, they seemingly did end up with a tower on that moon when the dust settled. I can't say myself since I was busily watching my machine churn on a 7.2 gigapixel image I took of geiranger this weekend, so I've no fucking idea what really happened. I just watched the pings go out and went.
