ARMA II Mod - Day Z

Well a mixed couple of days on this (but I still love it), my mates were up north so I started on the silly long trek up that way, running throught he woods with a g17 and 2 mags and an empty ak74, the happy hacker gave me full kit and equipment (nvg's/as50/m4/matches/rangefinder/gps/map/knife etc etc) which as you can imagine was a bit of a welcome suprise, so jumped onto a nearly empty night server and made my way half way there. Last night jumped on to do the last 50-60 miles, made it to my mates camp @2am with steaks, after the high 5's of meeting up and preparing for an atv run to a new spot, a hacker jumps on and kills two out of 3 of us and fucks off. Gutted after spending 4 hrs trying to meet up but I won't ever take the bonus toys again even when given to me.So Hackers are bad, its official.

I'm going to quote paste what I wrote about the night me and five S2N dudes just had playing, it was pretty much fucking amazing.

So; Myself, Skippythewondertard, Canaris, Reaper1712, and Heinrich Moneybags just had what could be described as one of the best nights you can have in Dayz without it ending in horrible horrible death.

We logged on at the north side of black lake, being patch day somehow canaris had been teleported over to Kamenka, and Reaper to like Electros coast. Reaper headed for our basecamp and we decided to go try to raid green mountain since they claimed the artifacting bug had been fixed.

On the way to Green mountain Canaris ran into somones camp, with a fully repaired and fueled tractor at it. FUCKING SCORE, Canaris steals the tractor, drives to Zelenogorsk and gets more fuel and meets us nearby.

We head to base camp to store some weapons and such to free up raiding space, and on our way to camp we find a barb wired in camp 1.5km from our base camp. We steal a M107 and a bunch of good ammo. Score one for us

Meanwhile myself skippy and heinrich on our trip over hit a few deer stands, and went to check the castle. We found someones tent in the castle, it was full of amazing gear. We snagged a coyote backpack for heinrich and a mp5sd6 and a bunch of other good shit including nightvision googles(replacing the ones I had lost a few days earlier haha).

We headed over to Novy to meet canaris, and we spotted the most obvious camp in existance, in the middle of the field approaching the city, ringed in barbed wire, with tank traps inside it, with 7 tents erected and full. We raided this, loaded the tractor down with Thermal scope weapons and rounds for all our great weapons, and ran away hoping no one would notice.

We then needed to raid the Dolina factory, because Canaris is a horrible tractor driver and had almost broken the tractor. Canaris is late because he went afk, he sets up on overwatch a little ways from the tractor and we go to raid, we find another camp inside with 6 more tents. Thats now four camps we've found and raided today.

Seconds later Heinrich calls out shots fired, and we go DEFCON FIVE EVERYBODY DOWN. While we're thermal scanning for where the shots came from, The guy who shot STEALS THE FUCKING TRACTOR and we try to move to intercept, at which point I aparently open mic yelled NIGGER STOLE MY TRACTOR. We see him driving it to the factory, skippy tries to explode it with his M107 to no avail and then we have a High powered rifle round hit the grass near us and we start running, we set up overwatch a few hundred meters away trying to spot the shooter and the theif, when they've snuck close and start lobbing either statchel charges or grenades at us, we make a break for it and pull out.

Theres a lot of panic at this point, but we run due west, and come across a truck parked on a tank trap. its fully operational, we clear zombies. take down the trap and steal the truck. The truck is fully loaded. We now are saying FUCK THIS SHIT BACK TO CAMP WE WIN. On the long 8 KM trek to camp we eventually see our buddy in a tractor pull out behind us, but a tractor cant keep up with a truck downhill, we lose him easily. To lose him skippy in a panic just turns into forest and starts mowing down trees with our big mother fucking truck, surprisingly the truck took no damage from driving THROUGH HUGE PINE TREES.

We end up near the northeast dam, where we find a random fully operational Bus parked right in front of the barn. We promptly steal it only to find out it cant offroad for shit. So we go wreck it into trees until it can;t drive anymore. We also shot the tires off. Fuck that bus.

We get back to base camp, load into the tents, make plans to go make a gas run and leave. Only to come across a camp 300 meters from base camp. We promptly run the tent over after checking it, go back and pack our shit up and run. We make new base camp as far from civilization as possible, as hidden as possible. Save our tent and Skippy leaves for the evening.

Me reaper and Heinrich decide to go find water before logging off and make for the nearest water source, en-route we find a bike parked 1.5km from our base camp...in the middle of nowhere...with no tent anywhere around(we looked hard). We decided not to steal it(after I joyrode a bit) because we didnt want him searching around for it and finding our camp.

Thus ends the best Dayz session ever.

Just don't play seriously at the moment and wait for the stand alone client. Once that is released they will no longer be running it on Arma 2 Servers where they are not allowed to touch the code and will instead have there own version of the code that belongs to them. This should see hacking down by a good 70% at least, and then give it a few months and they will have their own anti hack punkbustery software to boot. And no not battle eye, battle eye is a fucking joke and was only ever invented to check cd keys and punish clients that are cracked online.

Its bad times in dayz rite now with hacking higher than ever before but promising times lie ahead.

My biggest wish with the stand alone game is bigger servers. But either way I am super glad they are doing it. Arma is really holding back the awesomeness that is dayZ.

Sometimes I really hate this game. Wanted to play some DayZ this morning only to respawn at the beach with no items and everything in the red. First I thought oke maybe I died or this is a special server, so I quite, joined a diffrent one and same fucking thing. My debug stats are what they should be (kills/health etc) but everything els just disapeared.

All I know is that it is suposed to be released at the end of the year. Ill prolly wait for it and find a diffrent game to keep me busy till then.

PL dudes just started playing Arma II with ACE again. It's super easy to install now with the new Six Updater, you click mod, you update, you play.

So everyone who bought Arma to play DayZ can play regular Arma II.

Looks like a lot of people have been trying out the warz http://thewarz.com/ a little more arcadey and a little easier to play, but not by much.

heaps of maps from ARMA have been modded for Day-Z, standalone is coming along, a few screens have been released but more backend info than anything else has been blogged about.
