Aside from the hilarity of reading the obvious bitterness in Zagdul's post in the comments thread from that devblog, the people who honestly believe that you can cartel something like cobalt, which is about as common as finding dandelions in your front yard, need a reality check.
People thinking cobalt prices will skyrocket might be right initially, but once everyone realizes that, what is it, 1000 or so cobalt moons are actually worth towering, does anyone honestly believe the price will stay high?

If you own a Cobalt moon you can make Platinum Technite for around 52k/unit with provided numbers. Going for 85k in Jita right now so the moon is worth ~250m/month. Useful to own Cobalt moons, bad to own Cobalt.

When you are small then ISK matters, because you can buy all the things you cannot create yourself. But when you have become big then you will have to realize that you cannot fly ISKs, nor can you fit ISKs to a ship, nor do your guns take ISKs as ammo. So what do you do with the trillions of ISKs?
The most significant change that has happened in the sandbox economy over the last few months is that the prices of the low-end minerals have gone up, which 0.0 alliances like to buy in high-sec rather than having to mine Veldspar in 0.0.
Seems to me that sitting on a lot of Technetium was only good for increasing low-end mineral prices. Are these now going to fall?

You buy everyone that can fly them a supercarrier and titan (and create a supercap SRP) and then use them instead of hiding them away from the fights. That's what you do with trillions of isk.

Well yeah, that number will fall as the PlatTech supply goes up. A Cobalt moon producing PlatTech is still breaking even at around 52k unless the fuel market craters or the formula changes.

You'll make more running 2x Reactors than running a Harvester + Reactor. With current profit margins on the reaction Cobalt has to hit 7-8k a unit for it to be worth running a large tower with a Miner + Reactor and it's not going to. Even if it does that would make Alchemy unprofitable anyway because Cobalt is too expensive. Maybe you could fit Miner + 2x Reactors w/ Silos but I'm not a POS wizard so I don't know.
Basically, either Cobalt is not worth mining or it's not worth reacting. If it's not worth reacting nobody wants it so it's not going to be worth mining. Cobalt sucks. I say reacting but I mean do alchemy.

Assuming the POS builder is right, a Cal large can just barely squeeze two input silos, simple reactor, output silo, input silo, complex reaction, output silo, and a single miner. You couldn't use missiles for defense, so you would have to rely on unbonused guns with no tackle.

It's effectively free if you do the reaction on the Cobalt moon. Add fuel and a little platinum and you get PlatTech. The harvester can replace a silo and feed directly into a reactor. You could do 2 reactions while mining at least one, if not two, Cobalts at the same time. With Cobalt being everywhere the reaction towers will probably be located on the Cobalts. Otherwise yeah the Cobalt isn't free as you have to go harvest or buy it off someone. Best case you find the rare moon that has 2x Cobalt and 2x Platinum and all you need to do is fuel the damn thing while selling off 20 PlatTech and 180 Plat an hour.
Interesting stuff going on with Tech - looks like the people who have been stockpiling it or whatever are shitting themselves to get it off their hands at near-OTEC prices.

Bonuses or no unless you are complete scrubs you can take any tower out there in subcaps with practically 0 losses (there is always that 1 guy in a rifter who cant stay away).
POS gunners make things a lot more interesting.
