Winning Eve is good. Can still get to read Endie and Mittani posts without having to ever listen to DBRB in fleets. Goons creating content and taking a pro-active approach to their enemies drawing up invasion plans is good too. A way to deal with super-capitals by attacking lots of targets and forcing them on the defensive to see if you can crack morale.
That said it does feel like the game is running out of space empires. Almost like having beaten the NC sapped the Russian motivation to keep logging in and a lot of them might look at the current fight and wonder if they really care enough.

GSF has a pretty easy indicator for 'stuff we care about at the alliance level' based on whether I log in. Defend Deklein? Log in, pop modafinil, up for 30+ hours. Ice interdiction? Log in, play hella EVE, gank a ton of exhumers. Branch? Been logged in a lot, blowing stuff up in a Mael.
Delve? I have an E-100 now, it's pretty cool!

The bots were only there to fund the ice interdiction bounties. Now they're not needed as the interdiction is over. This war is being funded from the thievery of badly defended tech towers.

It does happen, but usually in the context of literally being backed into a corner with no other option. The mittani seems to actually be leaving an "out" so to speak for those in a position to assist the WN. That doesn't even take into account that raw numerical superiority has a way of demoralizing all on it's own once even a handful of fights are lost.
I was referring to them being deployed elsewhere, caught off guard (unsubbed, previously uninterested, etc), and calling up allies. My guess is that their numbers will actually be going up for about a week, as players at least give the war a go, despite how awful things seem. Simultaneously, goon and co numbers will be dropping as the initial assault euphoria fades.
When one side is having issues with 2:1 odds, it doesn't take much of a change in numbers for the RUS tz battles to start going against them. That's my point. Even having all other factors in your pocket, having issues with 2:1 odds is a deficiency worthy of note.
Again, for the third time, in the big picture I assume the other factors will dominate and subcap battlefield performance, good or bad, will be of little importance.
As an aside, it's a point worthy of note simply because if it begins to repeat itself, then there is a need to look at either the doctrine or their current player skill. A continuously growing need for numerical superioirity is as sure a sign of military weakness as anything.

You are really basing this off of that one fight? Looking at the numbers it was close to an even exchange against a ship type which is hard to counter when they come in large numbers. The only reason the fight was even on kills was because 100 man tengu fleet sat 100km off getting 1-2 kills here and there willy nilly. We blasted through 100 abaddons in about 5min and when the abaddons died, the tengus went to a pos and logged out for 2 hours till we called our op over :3:

Numerical superiority is a sign of military strength. Most wars in EVE are lost because the other side runs out of people rather than running out of play skill, bullets, ships, territory, blowjobs, or any other "ran out of this" element that might cause you to lose a war. It is almost always people.
You're making the fundamental error of treating EVE like Counterstrike or TF2, where if you need 3 dudes to kill 1 dude it probably means that he is good, and you are bad.
In EVE, having three dudes while the other side has one dude is part of being good.
yes. Maelstroms were only getting 1 cycle on the towers.
Looking at pure number statistics from that fight the average WN/RA Abaddon pilot managed about 0-9 kills, mostly Scorpions before their demise.. most of our dead Maelstroms whent to Raiden Tengu fleet where their averages are 20-30kills from the fight.
It took us about 2 minutes into the fight for our alpha to start working properly and once sorted we started killing them at a rate of about 4-6 battleships per minute.
I personally whored 54 WN/RA battleships, 4 command ships and 2 bombers in my Maelstrom despite disconnecting twice during the fight.
Good times.
