But when I go to punch in the key into the boxes that prompt from the install auto-run, it only accepts five keys in the second portion instead of seven

Either way, it keeps saying the Steam server is unavailable when I try to auth my key. I've tried it from multiple connections and its not an issue with my firewall, so what the fuck? I really want to play this game but because I have to go through Steam, its not letting me. This doesn't make much sense tbh.

oh shit, I just went through this with two Paragon games. one they told me to "enter as many chars as fit, ignore dashes", the other they said "no idea lol, here's new code". so try just jamming chars in first, then email support

I'd say email support. Steam has been helpful to me in the past, I'm sure they'll straighten things out.

Fair enough. But I also like to play as England and just dominate as well. France always seemed to suck later in the game and the armies in the east I could never get good at because of skirmishers and whatnot.

odds are steam will tell you to go talk to the publisher anyways, i'd email them as well and have the two tickets race

steam doesn't usually do any of the DRM, that's usually the game hosts.
