also annoyed that Tyrion threw his gold to the turnkey without them showing where he convinces him to come get the rest of his payment from him at casterly rock "a lannister always pays his debts" is about revenge, not honor, the show completely missed the point of that
in a previous episode littlefinger telling sansa the story of how the hound got burned was pretty gay since the hound was supposed to tell her that himself, very bad change.
there's been some changes that worked pretty well, like Ned's swordfight with Jaime was an improvement over the books where he just fucked some minions up and then got crushed under a horse

Much fewer people involved in everything in the show, was supposed to be 6 wildlings in the attack with Robb only being able to fight them because of the direwolves + should've been guardsmen showing up late with Theon, Robb wasn't angry enough at Theon either, was much bitchier in the book
Robert's hunting trip scene was kinda retarded too, way too few people.
Still an awesome show, and I imagine they'll have a bigger budget for season 2 ;O

Anyway just a brief dive into the subject, in a controlled environment with injected air, horse manure with 40% wood shavings, produces 19.3 Mj/Kg and burns around 950 degrees. This is at 40% moisture, with wood shavings (beneficial effect on combustion) so it's only really qualitative when considering the temps an open air horse turd fire might get to.
However, I'm pretty confident we can agree that Gold could not be melted like that, in the fashion it was in the TV series on a camp fire used to heat stew when it smelting point is just under 1100.

I have seen seven episodes so far and I am not impressed especially since its from HBO. The costumes and settings are not as impressive as they normaly are (Rome, Boardwalk Empire etc) and I find a lot of characters highly annoying. There are still a couple episodes left but I do not think I will watch the second season if it continues like this.

Nice settings, great costumes. Fun characters and funny dialogues. It was your typical soap opera but taking place in ancient Rome.

re the Dothraki crowds yeah they've been pathetically much smaller than in the books, the guy's supposed to have like 40k mounted warriors along with him and like 60k slaves in addition and it feels more like there's about a hundred in total, i'm pretty pessimistic about the big battles coming up
and the eyrie in the show is tiny and looks fake

I like the books and I loved Rome (top 5 tv dramas evar) so my expectations were pretty high. Its not as good as it could have been but I guess I should just be thankfull they aren't messing it up too bad. Would like to know what the supposedly massive budget was blown on though, it clearly wasn't extras.
The first book was pretty shit compared with the second which is where everything kicks off, so hopefully it will improve (most t.v series peak series 2 anyway).
Towards the end of the first book things get pretty awesome and things just get better the farther you go into the series (kinda like breaking bad).
Anyway let's hope they blew all their moneys on the upcoming epic battles !

That is something I've noticed with shows this season, they have these random 1-3 week gaps in between episodes (i.e. Chicago Code & now GoT)
HBO always does that.. gets them an extra week of $ out of people who tend to cancel their
subscription after a particular show ends for a season.

I read all the books last summer. Great series you can't put down. That being said, I'm kind of meh about the tv series. Part of me is glad they made it into a tv show but part of me is disappointed in it. I guess I had alot of expectations for it and haven't been disappointed but haven't been impressed either.
Tyrion is great but he's more white knighted than in the book. In the book, he's far more grey and you have more suspicions than the show. Jamie is well played, he's a dick and you hate him in the first book, but he grows on you as the show progresses. Arya is a little brat in the beginning also but she grows on you too. My favourite characer from the book is Davos, I hope they play him well in the show.
One thing I really like is the intro to the show. Clogs of the wheel that make up the politics of the realm. Great idea for an intro.
I'm worried about second season and beyond. The books change so much, main characters die off and take you off on new characters and plot lines. This can't really be replicated in a tv series because you need to keep main characters to keep the audiance relating to them and captivated. I'd expect ratings will drop off as the show progresses which will prevent further seasons and finishing the story.
I'd have to agree as I forsee ratings dropping like a rock (because they kill off so many main characters) or skyrockething (holy shit they kill off main characters, this show is awesome).
Also, how do you expect them to finish the story when GRRM is still years off, if he doesn't die before finishing it?
Thing is tho the books get better the farther into them you go, so I don't think people will give up on it just cos the main characters are dropping like flies..

Look at Spooks they have changed the main chars (with the exception of Harry) in almost every series, and that's still massively popular.
They kill off main characters every season of Dexter.
