Also when Mittens talks about a threat to the CFC and Fountain he is talking about a huge coalition forming on test's doorstep. If the southern block manages to take back delve they suddenly have a huge coalition with the momentum in their favor. He isn't saying they are planning an invasion but just acknowledges a new threat because they might actually manage to not shoot each other for a couple weeks.

Don't think you realize the main reason we're not shooting each other in the first place is TEST's/PL's assault on Delve.

This whole war is a double self fulfilling prophecy, leading up to what many have long deemed inevitable anyway.

I imagine that the thoery is that Test and PL having persuaded them to set aside their previous differences, failure to finish what they started would have left a unified - and vengeful - force on the southern border of Fountain.

Personally, it's not down to geopolitics for me, though. I like the people we're coming to help, and I feel we owe AAA for their unprovoked backstab in 2008, and that we've yet to fully repay that debt.
