What are the shooting as part of the protest?
Here's the live cam
Geez, I feel ancient and disconnected. And I can't get into Jita even if I wanted to, its all barricaded off.

Some sort of monument to burn eden or something, idk.
Some monument to two long-forgotten players that did some long-forgotten thing. I would be there to tell you exactly what it was, but I'm still downloading EVE again because :CCP: the Mac patch killed the client.
That's what you get for being a hippie.
basically it's people getting mad that ccp basically said "we know you guys are no life virtual reality losers so prove us wrong." however, instead of proving ccp wrong by unsubbing they are shooting some kind of space ball.
They are shooting the AT monument. I don't actually remember who won it though. If you right click it should tell you who.
So it's the alliance tournment monument which people are shooting in protest because the way the final went? Can you even destroy it? I don't see it's armour moving...(I'd check but I don't have eve or even a computer)
Eve nerd rage at its best.
Not because of the way the final went, it's just what they chose to shoot I would think. There's been tons of talk of a jita thunderdome over previous expansions/changes, I think they finally began one.
It's about RL money for in game stuff, and a leaked document talking seriously about ships and SP for RL money too.

People are freaking the hell out, apparently Jita and Amarr are locked down entirely.
Tell me about it, and kugu was sleeping. Of course, it's High Sec and all, and yet, it's Eve![]()
I like the ever growing threadnaught on the EVE-O Forums. So far I'm fairly certain it's surpassed the crapfest thread from 2010 where CCP wanted us to vote them the #1 online game while we had the unfixed lag monster raging on us.
There are a couple threads about whats going on overall.

As far as the protest I'm not sure prob because most realize its pointless or that a lot of us are unsubbed.
apparently no one in eve works for any sort of corporation
that PDF is of discussions with mainly PR people, and their only goal is to get people to play eve, and they are discussing ways to encourage new folks
in any sort of these brainstorming discussions 99% of the ideas get shot down, but the point is to encourage new ideas to get new players
When i logged in Jita was at 2025 and i did a serious double take to make sure I had read the number correctly.
We need a comedy "aid convoy" for CCP - where is DHD when you need him......
Did you read the PDF? It was not focused on attracting new players at all. The language and focus was entirely on how to get more money out of existing players. And, they were doing it in terms that shows they had directly lied to the playerbase. Also, there was the dissapointing information that they have no idea how EVE works, don't understand business very well, are deep in need of cash, and have barely even started working on WOD.
So, the player issues really come down to 1) they lied to us. And, 2) This game a/o CCP is boned, so why should we continue to care about a game that probably won't even exist in a recognizable form in 1 or 2 years?
It's just broken. It's not like Eve's a free-to-play game which makes its money from virtual item sales. It's not like we can't play real $$ to buy in-game stuff, via plex. If it ever gets to the point where I have to pay for the subscription AND for stuff that I can get no other way than by paying real $$, then it's time to say good bye. I guess that's what a lot of people are thinking as well.
Basicly they lied to use about the shop being vanity items only, they are soon going to allow buying ships, ammo, implants, standings who knows what else
that slippery slope everyone was talking about? yeah you already fell off![]()
Well I think for the most part that CCP does this shit because the community has allowed them to for years. People complain and cry about all of the changes, but your still paying to play vOv. Now im not supporting what CCP is doing because it is utter shit, but they basically know we aren't going to unsub and eventually you will start buying shit through micro transactions. Im not sure how people didn't see this comming, other mmo's are making money hand over fist. CCP wants a slice of that pie.
Why do I have to have my EVE look like shit just because some poor scrublords cant upgrade their shit?
Plus it will make other games faster and better looking you know.
You could all just unsubscribe like I did.
Oh wait, you can't. Spaceship is like a drug.
So many replies, not one +repI'd make a sad panda my avatar, but I can't HAVE a fucking avatar yet, apparently.
Man this thread about how bad Incarna is and the player reaction has the best title ever if you stop and think about it
That's not my beef. You can have all the shiny eve you want. My beef is CCP told me 3 months ago I was good to go, Told me 10 days ago that things will be ok.
I don't care if I lag and die horribly, running my subpar gear, that's my choice and I don't whine about it. I do care when CCP tells me it's going to be ok, and then runs me into a brick wall. Forgive my hopefully small whine.
The last time I saw rage like this was when they got rid of ghost training calling it a bug, while their website promoted it as a feature at the same time (until they craftily changed it thinking nobody had screen shots). Its that attitude that scares me about what is going on, if I wanted to compete in a micro transaction based game i'd go buy golden cucumbers or whatever it is on farmville. Vanity shit i don't care about, but faction standings for isk, ships for isk, whatever it is, is just stupid. People generally consider micro transaction games casual at best, and usually inferior which is the very thing that eve isn't.
btw, the Q1 QEN for 2011 is long over due. Q1 QEN for 2010 was published on June 10. For 2009, it was published on June 4. I bet there are surprising numbers CCP doesn't want us to see.
Intriguing how some loud voices are quiet on this topic. Is it because any move now might get you associated with the shitposting crowd on eve-o?
Or CCP plans are not that bad after all.
But that PDF sure has some neat graphics for an internal newsletter. I too wish I had my face in an hexagon in our monthly morale boosting propaganda![]()
I can't remember a time when the future of EVE looked so bleak![]()
This ain't Proceedings of the Naval Institute or some other semi-affiliated but independent sounding-board organ. CCP's not large enough or I daresay organized enough for that. It's an internal document produced directly under the auspices of the company, mainly as a morale booster. (Working for a corporation and running such a document among other things, I literally cannot conceive of another reason to publish such a thing unless it's a bunch of guys doing it on their home computers for lulz, and it's not.) As such, it would mainly be in the business of informing people.
How's that 'moral booster' working out for them now? Fuckers can diaf for all I care. How the hell did they go so gd wrong? I mean I know politicians less tone deaf then these idiots.
Laptops. Makes mine chug a bit and it's not a PoS. I don't want to spend money on a high end laptop. I wish they'd make the ambulation optional at least. They could call it "classic view."
This is all very inconvenient for me. It's also big jump when you're using 4 accounts at times. When you compare what we recieved in return for hardware demands, it's very underwhelming. And now all this speculation over $$ for stuff. Vanity and convenience items, go for it. Big fucking deal. Stuff that you can undock in, or buying faction standings would be bull shit.
I'm saving my nerd rage for when and if they decide to pursue it.
Still takes up a metric fuckton of CPU
