Funy thing, after this ban of ROL alliance leader, iskbank.com started buying ISK from players, but on their site they sad they re not buying ISK, and they make their own isk. Now they are buying it, and they are advartising it on their site, publickdemands and some other sites. So can this be related

Legible translation: In the past ISK bank said they were making their own isk to sell, now that rumors of ROL leaders getting banned are circulating, ISK bank is offering to buy ISK from players. There's a possibility of correlation, especially if ROL was their main supply and the faucet has been turned off (or substantially reduced).

Does anyone really get truly butthurt about RMT? I mean, if I could make a living by playing a video game too much (which I already do), I would totally do it. But setting up and establishing a solid amount of income requires effort in either automating multiple botting clients, managing a space-empire, finding and exploiting something for economic gain orders of magnitude above "normal" isk generation, or account theft / hacking (which isn't very cool).

If I could pull 3k/week (numbers I've heard from some reliable sources), tax free, I know my RL would be a lot better.

    Hi Alex! Thanks for sharing!
With respect to ancient Rome, dignitas was regarded as the sum of the personal clout and influence that a male citizen acquired throughout his life. When weighing the dignitas of a particular individual, factors such as personal reputation, moral standing, and ethical worth had to be considered, along with the man's entitlement to respect and proper treatment.

Same. Botting and RMT occur in what appears to me to be the vast majority of MMO games. EVE is just another way for people who RMT to make money.

MMO companies don't like it because it reduces the legitimacy of the grind, and the MMO business model depends on offering a legitimate timesink. Rampant unauthorized RMT can reduce the public image of a game; gold farmers, even those who aren't bots, tend to be anti-social, and players buying gold are skipping any social activity they might engage in to grind it, and large-scale social interaction is the only reason to play a MMO over a single- or regular multi-player game. For MMOs with more in-depth economies RMT can move non-trivial amounts of liquid capital in and out of the system rapidly, causing instability.

CCP also dislikes RMT outside of timecarding because they don't get a cut.

Some Eve players dislike RMT for the timesink reason above ("My third wife left me while I ground rats 40 hours a week for a year for my titan and this dickhole just bought his off eBay.") But for the everyday player the botting side is much more vilified, particularly when CCP legitimizes a form of RMT via timecarding anyway.

What he said, except the timesink analogy doesn't work because if an EVE player has a wife it's safe to assume he doesn't log in and just shits on the forums instead.

Really, RMT'ing screws everyone except the people doing it.

RMT especially screws up ship reimbursement within ROL. Apart from the Logi-Replacement we didn't have anything despite 100b income from moons. I think there is Capital-Replacement now. Not quite sure, i heard someone mention it after the latest CEO meeting a few days ago.

the lists leaked were isk buyers and they were pretty much all in the nc. So if eu/us guys mostly buy isk take a wild guess who the sellers are.

That's also very consistent with flying through dronespace at russian night and having 3 tengus per system with perfect reflexes.

I've always looked at this more from the perspective of a new or casual eve player. What is the better system to foster pvp of any sort, while supporting the carebearish side of things that most casual players need?

In the NC they have the guest system, where smaller, less capable alliances hold their space for free. They might not get the best space, or all the moons, but they own it, they defend it. They run small gangs, and join larger NC fleets, so their pilots get to experience as much of the "0.0 experience" as they want. They get the benefit of more experienced FCs from the core alliances during larger ops, and can join a variety of blue fleets that are up at any given time.

On the other hand, the DRF renter model seem much worse to me. You don't own the space. Most of them don't do much PVP (they just rat/mine to pay bills) and gain no PVP experience or leadership from their overlords (TZ difference, language barrier, etc).

So you have a system that enables people to play the game however they want to, and a system that is focused explicitly on making isk to hold space to make isk. One encourages growth (to an extent) while the other sees you as just another of 100 customers that can easily be replaced.

For me the answer is obvious which one is better, and I would hate to see the DRF model dominate eve, since this game is bad enough as it is.

It's only bad enough when we all stop logging in.

Also as far as i remember the buyers were pretty spread out. If someone still has the link to the nice googledoc sheet with the corp history I would appreciate it.

Ooooh, I've been waiting for this topic to come up, and this seems like a nice dead-end thread to do it in.

I used to be a strong believer in the NC model, until I realized the complacency it builds. It brings players down from empire, but then there is no pressure for them to improve. Therefore, the extent of their eve experience is ratting and blob wars. The NC model can work on a smaller scale, see goons, where there is enough top down control to ensure things are moving forward, but it's just too hard to direct a super-massive coalition like the NC and keep it from stagnating.

The problem with the renter model is that eleetpeeveepeeers are by and large dogpiling faggots. So instead of a huge variety of different overlord alliances duking it out for rental space and moons, you have 1 or 2 fotms that are going in circles burning everything until their leaders burnout or get lives, then the dogpiling faggots move to the next fotm, and eventually the old, rotting ex-fotm gets steam-rolled.

In conclusion, Eve is full of faggots.

Im a nobody that lives in a shitty system in Syndicate, but I tend to agree with Grim here, its in essence like politics you need to pick the lesser of two evils. I don't much care for the NC, its full of greedy fucking pigs. I have been on many adventures into Russian space in search of good fights, and I still get shocked by how quickly 70+ people can log off in mass. I have never once achieved a good fight in DRF space. But the NC on the other hand brings lots of shitty noobs to the field to feed your bloodlust. Although I hate the NC and everything it represents, I would be a sad panda if their life expired. Where else in EVE can you farm epic amounts of noobs?

I just recently spent a month in Curse and the Great wildlands and there wasnt shit there. Unless Im retarded (High Probability). All we found was a bunch of russians that would either hot drop your 15 man gang with supers, or play station games all night.

I dont know much of past goon adventures, but currently they have basically inherited the NC system. They gained the old NC guests of TCF (purging most of them) and bringing in TEST and others to be their vassals. I think they do more to foster these smaller alliances, and help them out than the NC does, but the basic template appears to be the same.

People bot because making isk in the game is boring for the vast majority and it is impossible to make huge wads of isk in a short period of time without having huge wads of isk in the first place. Which is also why people buy isk.

When you examine the average grunt's cash-flow the need for isk is fairly flat for long periods, there are just huge spikes which create the need for isk, typically when someone desires a SC or some other faggotry. You can't generate the isk in a short period of time.

The problem isn't the supply, it is the demand. As long as there is demand there will always be supply, the variable will just be the price depending on how hard it is to generate. There will always be a ceiling in EVE because of CCP sticking their dick into the market, but you can't realistically access enough isk via CCP in a timely fashion in bulk quantities.

CCP can track the main suppliers the same way governments can track those who dodge tax or generate money from illegal activities based on asset testing. Any person or entity should have a level of assets based on income generated and expenses paid. If you are generating 100 billion in isk and are losing 20 billion in isk a month and your assets have only climbed 10 billion then there is what is a material discrepancy and that should flag a person or entity as a possible RMTer. There are legitimate reasons for variances but those can be traced.

I used to launder money for RMTers, you can do it within the game and hide the trail and give an audit trail for discrepancies but it isn't easy to do for huge quantities and there would only be a handful of people in the game that could pull it off at any given time. The more people you trust with sensitive information, the more vulnerable you become to being exposed. I think most major RMTers would have been found by informers rather than internal testing. If they had a system for asset testing you would see a massive stream of accounts constantly banned and they would publicly use this as incentive for people to stop doing it.

CCP would have to make some fundamental changes to make the environment RMT unfriendly, being able to create accounts and subscribe them without tracing the account to a real person makes it impossible to permanently remove someone who RMTs. Catching someone after years RMTing just becomes an inconvenience. You can hide the movement of large quantities of isk within the in-game system, banning characters, accounts and such is just a minor inconvenience unless you find all the isk, otherwise new accounts will be made, new characters with clean histories purchased and the cycle will continue. The vast majority of the wealth has already been liquefied to out-of game assets.

I have known Vuk for a long time, he has never done anything to suggest he RMTs in my opinion and 4S and MM in general would be squeaky clean. However, when you rent large portions of space out and give rights in those areas to other entities you don't know or care what they do in their allocated space. As long as they pay their fee then they have met their obligations. It would be the same thing in DRF.

CCP could quite easily change things up so generating isk wasn't the colossal pita that it is for a lot of people. In real life, credit is what people rely on when they don't have the money they need, it just can't work in EVE when the characters are this disposable.

They inherited directly from TCF without the NC being involved (from the NC forum dumps that were on Kugu), They agreed to keep the guests of TCF but one lied unwisely, one was insane and TNT are really chill and did well out of it. TEST are likewise always entertaining (Vassals, lol).

But why we'd show up in this thread no idea. Nobody pays rent to goons and the goon auditor is terrifying in his efficiency.

If there's a bot in -FA- let me know. I'd be happy to have him removed.

So you killed his 600M Tengu and now he can continue botting in your Alliance?
500M is like 16 Hours botting time if you assume a terrible bot with 10M ticks, so i'm sure he didn't care much and hes still in your Alliance.

So what exactly is your policy? KM's in exchange for botting grounds?

If I could pull 3k/week (numbers I've heard from some reliable sources), tax free, I know my RL would be a lot better.

I can almost hear NC leadership now. They must feel like Hitler did when Roosevelt died in the closing stages of WWII. Desperately trying to take it as a good omen, but we all know how that turned out don't we.
