I don't believe recruits are allowed to be physically beaten... anymore... but they have other ways of getting their point across. Getting beaten would probably be preferable to some of them.

Recruits still get beaten, they just have ways of doing it under the radar. I got tackled over footlockers, into the stall doors in the head, beaten with a stick and I caught many an elbow to the head.
