Making fun of Fox just isn't edgy and hip any more, we're all making fun of Huffpo now, you have to get with the times
Some of us are still making fun of Drudge.![]()
So... considering recent events, would you care to revise your analysis Czech?
I like Detroit better.
Yeah the "loss" of that lo-sec system will be crippling. As for what happens when the DRF face the 968390567 remaining NC titans in 0.0 where they can actually DD, that remains to be seen.
Whilst I dont doubt that super pilots will be rather reluctant to join that particular FC's fleets in the future, a one-off whelp doesn't cripple a coalition. If large numbers of their super pilots stop joining any fleets, that will make a difference. But there's no particular need for that to happen as the NC is quite capable of restoring even a trillion ISK loss.
The DRF would have to do this at least a couple more times, and they'd have to do it in 0.0 where they've signally failed to do so in the past, in order to start any kind of 'cascade'.
Serious post.
What actually happened last night? It was valentine's day so I didn't log on. Did we just fall for another russian super trap or was there a point behind having so many supers in a lowsec system?
There's so much in the way of disjointed hurfing and histrionics in other threads that it's close to impossible to figure out what was going on and even if this is that big a deal for the NC (Vuk seems to have taken it pretty well in the alliance whelp email).
As always losing ships is secondary to losing morale if that happens. NC certainly has ships to throw into the fire, what determines if they'll get used is if the average line member has faith in the competence of their FCs and command. It has to be said large part of that fiasco on NC side was about FC incompetence.
From what I can gather:
A NC fleet saw a chance to gank some DRF supers in Uemon (DRF staging system in The Forge lowsec). Shortly after arriving in system a hostile cyno went up and DRF supers started pouring in. Imperian calls for all NC moms/titans to login and get to Uemon. NC pours into system, and lag goes through the roof. Titans can't DD in lowsec, and Rus brought more moms than NC, so titans start going down. At some point call is made to withdrawl, most of NC leaves the field, Russians do the same after killing remaining NC Titans stuck on the field.
System is so fucked ships are not disapearing, many DRF and NC ships are still stuck in space outside the DRF staging POS. NC braintrust decides that the only solution to this lag is to call every NC member who isn't already in system to move there ASAP. This ruins the night for 1000 NC as they slowly grind down a single lagged out nyx over the course of 4 hours. A bunch of lagged out DRF support and a few other caps are killed, until downtime finally hit and the fight stopped.
Killboards are pretty fucked, but I think thetotal was 10 NC and 2 Raidendot Titans lost, and nothing else really matters compared to that.

Yo, post the one a day later stating that 'vacation' is cancelled.
edit: aww, my tired, broken, contentless meme of calling NC carebears.
In fact, that's probably the correct way to use caps/italics/underlined text. You see, text that is different (caps/italics/underlined) slows a reader down. So, if you want people to read carefully, maybe twice, caps/italics/underlining a word in a key phrase is a good idea.
BUT IF YOU'RE A GOD DAMNED RETARD YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS AND MAKE IT JUST REALLY HARD TO READ AT ALL SO AS MANY READERS WILL SKIP WHAT YOU WROTE AS WILL ACTUALLY READ IT.
HOPE THIS HELPS.
Thanks gents. Sounds like my night was better spend with V-day festivities.
Didn't our last titan whelp happen in similar circumstances?
This is a nice change. I was getting tired of the "omg NC is unstoppable" bullshit blabbering. Maybe we get to welp a region and take it back again while we're at it
eve will never be without conflict. Why? That is what makes the game enjoyable for most of the end-game players. The last thing CCP wants is for their oldest clients to get bored and quit the game because one entity turned into such a huge power that they were literally unstoppable.
Should the NC or anyone else truly get themselves to a point where they ended up with such an advantage in resources that they became practically un-defeatable, CCP would simply change some game mechanics or fiddle with the economy somehow to level the playing field.
I really don't think we're there yet, nor do I think we're even close to being there yet. Yes, the NC is very powerful, but they aren't immortal. It is possible for smaller entities like PL to fight and beat them consistently. Unlike most 0.0 alliances their size though, PL has a MASSIVE supply of isk and resources, and they also have the advantage of having one of the best reputations and leadership when it comes to PvP in the entire game. Still, that doesn't preclude smaller and less well equipped and known entities from being able to accomplish similar things to what PL does, it just makes it harder (any small alliance can afford bombers, and bombers are key to PL's success).
The real strength of the NC has been the solidarity of the leadership, working together despite differences for a common goal. That is probably exactly what is needed by the NC's opposition to oust them, because PL and others have proven that individually alliances can still have success fighting the NC, but in the end when it comes to accomplishing anything that would seriously hurt the NC it comes down to numbers. The real question is, can the leadership of enough alliances who hate the NC put their egos aside enough to work together to oust them? I don't think it's too far outside the realm of possibility. It happened to BoB/Kenzoku during Delve War II, when it was pretty much all of EVE vs. BoB, GBC, and AAA and pets. It took a long time for the hatred of BoB by most of EVE to manifest into Delve War II, but it happened, and the general feeling towards the NC from outside the NC seems to be heading in that direction.
One thing I don't see lasting is the technetium thing. I can't see how CCP doesn't see how things evolved with the market after the R64 nerf as balanced in any way, but maybe it was never intended to be. Opinions on developer decisions and their balance implications aside, CCP has made changes that vastly impacted 0.0 economics before, and they will do so again, it's only a matter of when, and who the economic power will shift to with whatever changes they decide to make.
tl;dr CCP needs/wants 0.0 conflict, and they control every aspect of this game through mechanics and economy-impacting game modifications, and they won't just sit back and let someone control huge swaths of 0.0 unopposed, and if that does happen, they will make changes to shift the balance of power significantly enough for that entity to become vulnerable.
I agree, good to put them in check. So far i'm not very impressed with the NC, hence why I left that shit hole. Lets see just what the NC has done since November (ish):
* Fail at invading DRF
* Fail at holding their venal moons
* Get their shit pushed in daily by PL for a month
* Killed a few PL titans and screamed victory
* Take back their own possessions (moons) after PL moved out of the area (this was obviously a real big accomplishment)
* Smug post on kugu / their own forums about how great they are and how they repelled the evil scum of the universe
* Whelping a super fleet to DRF
I don't know about everyone else, but this totally sounds like eve's number 1 unstoppable force. Congrats NC, on holding sov... its about the only thing you have managed to do over the years. You're New Eden's punching bag and we thank you for that.
CCP wants to finish WoD and Dust before some entity gets a critical mass of super-capitals (ships and pilots) and steam-rolls the map. In the face of that mass, and your own super-capital pilots suddenly remembering something else they had to be doing as confidence ebbs, sov can vanish very quickly (Atlas, IT).
DRF + Raiden. + PL/Tri vs NC and you are a long way towards that goal.
And since re-building a super-capital fleet either requires holding secure space for long periods of time, or being able to buy them from someone who does, once you've lost your super-capital fleet, you lose sov and making a comeback is going to be pretty hard.
Of course CCP is boxed in a corner. The larger alliances are focused on building up their super capital fleets and any substantial nerf will cause massive howls of protest. Yet the game is steadily turning into super-capitals online.
Not that I care personally, I fly a cov-ops so I can watch it happen![]()
[Arrador] possesses a considerable understanding of ship configurations, strengths and weakness. He gives clear and purposeful instructions, is good at taking advantage of the fleet-composition he's dealt, and never loses sight of the main goal: fun. This, paired with an excellent tolerance for strong drink gives him an almost Churchillian capability to win, despite being completely pissed on booze most of the fleet operation.
Nah, I usually use the P3EN route.
When I woke up this morning my Abaddon was still stuck in Uemon in half armor. I was surprised to find him alive at all, since when I ragequit I was stuck with 0 speed, with the MWD on, being shot at by a Revelation on the enemy POS. I somehow got him back into 0.0 in 1 piece, I guess its my lucky abaddon now.
