No no no no no. The kid who told me I wasn't a real Star Wars fan hadn't seen the original star wars trilogy.
I've seen it so many times it's pathedic.

Zak in all seriousness you should play the original KOTOR (its like $3 on Steam) to learn more about Revan, dude makes everyone in the Trilogies look like Jar Jar in comparison to how badass he is.
What's crazy is, I own the game.
Had it since it first came out. When I installed on my computer at the time, it crashed to desktop every time I tried to run it. After a lot of trouble shooting I figured that it was an issue with my GPU. All I had to do was update my driver. Well, I never got around to it because I got deployed for 8 months and when I got back I bought a new computer and started playing some other game.
Anyway, at this point I don't think I can tear myself away from TOR long enough to play a whole Bioware RPG. However, next time I'm deployed and have no interwebz, I know what I'll be doing.

KOTOR is one of the best games ever. It's certainly the second-best Star Wars game out there.
I'd recommend it for a day when you're hungover, really caps your attention.

I rolled on Hidden Beks, had login queues for a few days but seem to have settled down, that said I've not had to wait more than 20mins, if for an MMO launch thats the worst then they've worked hard to do it right.
bounty hunter storyline is great but theres something niggling at me, the light/dark side choices were a fresh new twist that I thought was great, in the beginning, now even though I fell the storyline works better choosing the lightside answer, I go dark, I needs my darkside points! which is a game mechanic deciding my choices, it's hard to figure out how else to do it but overall I do like the mechanic
I imagined the same from the beginning so I only went dark side, maybe I'll level a scrub alt at some point and only go for the story, so I won't be caring for all that. But it is indeed limiting the way it works.

Upside Dark side tends to be funny![]()
I ended up buying this when it became obvious I wouldn't be returning to Eve any time soon. I wanted a casual game for rainy days where I could log on, play a bit and log off without giving a shit ton of time to it. My son has been waiting over a year tor SWTOR so I figured I'd give this a shot as well.
I'm impressed so far. WOW bored me pretty quickly so I figured I'd be throwing 60 bucks out the window for a few hours of play. I'm not going to be addicted to SWTOR but it's a pretty good way to waste an hour or four. The best part is I have no need of alts, so it's going to cost a quarter of what I paid into Eve.
did some ELITE PVP investigation (checked all the login counts on the low level planets) on my euro server hex droid and noticed that there is literally twice as many imperial players compared to republics which would explain why i never find people to gank and is always forced to play huttball. FML.
edit; for empire the bounty hunter has the shittiest storyline. Sith warrior > imp agent > sith inq > BH.
Oh yes as a sith warrior you are referred as the sole mighty fist of empire and most imperial rank NPC's on planets feel uncomfortable upon your appearance.edit; for empire the bounty hunter has the shittiest storyline. Sith warrior > imp agent > sith inq > BH.
My Sith Warrior is now level 40, with over 5K light side points. (yes, that's right, Light side) Which is actually hilarous because every NPC is like "So... you're not going to choke the shit out of me? Weird. I mean, great!"
IMP Agent however is my Favorite Story so far. And Going the Opertive AC with all my skill points in the healing tree is boss. First time I've ever enjoyed playing a support/healing role in an MMO.
PVP ganks are so hallow. There is no reward of any kind. No Valor, no XP, no credits, and since the only way to talk cross faction is /say and /yell, no tears either. (The fools are likely yelling in the general chat, unaware that I can't hear them.)
I've played EVE too long. My usual comments in chat cause people to say "Enjoy the ban" a lot. I've also been told that I should be "ashamed" for hunting down players in the open world and killing them. Why are you on a PVP server I ask? These guys make EVE carebears look like hard core KM whores.

Just finished the Jedi Knight's story last night.
You lay the smackdown with the Emperor (again) and save the galaxy, like the fucking baus you are. And if you're smart you save your secret Jedi girlfriend beforehand, thus prompting her to want to remove your robes right then and there
Honestly kind of sad that my tale has ended, but excited to see where the game will grow and expand from this point. Now that I'm 50 I just plan on casually PvPing and doing Flashpoints with friends. Dunno if I'll start up an alt, I just feel very attached to my Jedi Knight, its almost like in Mass Effect where I don't want to play again, because I already had 'my story'.
I've started all 8 classes. Never thought I'd enjoy an inquisitor but I do. I'm with the grumpy lemon on this one.
I had my brother help me with DJ last night. His lvl 42 Sith Warrior made quick work of him. My Operative got a back stab in and a few shots and it was over. Kaliyo just watched. My suggestion, bring a friend.
My brother and I are almost done with the main story for Sith Warrior, even though we are only 42. Just one fight left which had to wait until tonight. We run all the story missions together (in the prefs there is an option to allow same class party members in, it's good times.) From the get go I have been stalwart of the light side, while my brother has embraced the traditional dark side, choke everything first, ask questions later approach.
It's been highly entertaining to watch a cut scene one way, and then see it the other way. Often, because of our decisions, there is a vast difference in how it plays out. In one encounter I was able to enlist a group of Republic Troopers to help me fight a Sith Lord. I easily took him down solo. My brother, who had slaughtered the Troopers without even talking to them had a really hard time taking that Sith down. On the other end, one cut scene involved my brother choking out three NPCs and getting the mission done: snip snap. My light side choices on the other hand took us on a 3 hour detour as I had to assist in the defense of a small outpost until I got the information I wanted.
The largest difference, and really the most disappointing for me, is Jaesa Willsaam. Clearly, she likes bad boys. IF you are a Dark Side Sith (as you should be) any option to choke, kill, annoy, or generally be evil has her tossing her panties at you. In some cases a 200+ point affection gain with one swish of the saber. Already she's gotten plenty of use out of the "other" saber.
However, if you're a Light Side Sith (What are you? Gay?) She's a cold fish who barely responds to anything you do. I had her for 5 levels before I finally got an option to "flirt" with her. She shot me down like faster than the first duck to take flight on hunting day. I gave up and went back to Vette, who incidentally loves the nice guy. I guess I could get used to the big head tail things... At least they'll make good handle bars.

its hard to get randoms to help you out on a personal story quest tho. i'll just wait a few more levels i guess.
i was going to do an IA and a SW but i'm not sure if I can stomach seeing some of these planets a second time.
also i even opened a support ticket about the DJ fight as its semi-bugged if you're a sniper/ranged, but i also
decided i'd rather side with the guy for the story reasons later on. I got the SWTOR equivalent of "our logs
show nothing" from them lol
Did they wave their hand as they said it?
Even with heals, my Tank companions were having a hard time with him. And I'm 36. My gear is up to date too. I can't imagine tying to burst him down before Kaliyo is dead.

~Let me tell you about facing over 100 mobs with only T7, most of which are champion and elite in groups of 4+
Indeed. My least favorite companion is the one I use most often, only because he heals like Jesus on Thursday.
Without his epic logistics I'd be hosed.

DJ was piss easy for my marauder. The funny part was that up until a point I actually thought the marauder is bad, and suddenly at around 30 she because awesome. The storyline is great as well. Light side you say? I play a sith, to choke and rape every single faggot I come across. After I'm done with being bad and I'll want to play gay, I'll just roll a jedi.
~~~~GIMMIE +REP+ GIMMIE~~~~
Definitely recommend it, LS Jedi is kickass (mostly because I'm a goodie twoshoes, but you still fuck up plenty of Sith Lords)
Really the only reason for the light side choice, initially, is that I wanted blue light sabers. I think when I finish my Marauder story, I'll go play a Jedi and be Ebil just to keep the Balance of the Force.
The story line leading up to getting your light saber is ok for Sith, but as a Jedi, when you get your lightsaber, its actually a moving moment, like the discovery of the Holy Grail and shit. I never got much past 15 on light side dudes during testing, but the story was definitely just as good.
Late for the party crew checking in. Is this game anything like KOTOR 2? Because dual wielding short purple and silver light sabers was pretty boss imho.
The storyline is pretty similar, it's a few years after the fall of Revan and Malak.
Can you get away with being anti social and running the story solo? It's hard enough dealing with one group of spaceship people, two sounds like a burden best avoided.
I've been doing it like that for the past few weeks on various characters, don't see why you can't.
Twitter: @WidotVenetianT - RIP Vile Rat.
Indeed, the moment seemed to mean a lot more to the Jedi. The Sith was sort of "About damn time." And that was it. My Jedi is 18 now and dispite my threats, is all Boy Scout. Well, mostly....
300 years since Revan, 3000 years before Luke and Co. But, since Star Wars is a static world, nothing has really changed.
Easily. The main story for each character is designed to be played solo. Friends can help but, unlike other MMO's I have played, you won't need 50 people to get your level 35 boots. There are benefits to grouping but not so much that you're missing out on anything if you don't.
Oh, and if anyone is on Rakata Mind Prision, My Sith Warrior's name is Zakhodit. If anyone happens to be on the server, or starts a new character on it, I can hook you up with anything you need. If anything I can make you any crystal color you want for your blaster or saber.
Ah, yeah I thought it was something like that. Having played both KOTOR and KOTOR 2, I knew it was somewhere around that time.
Okay: serious storyline spoiler here. Click at your own risk!
I may join you on here, it will be after my Inquisitor story has finished though.
during beta I got my bounty hunter to level 10 pretty much only doing the storyline before I needed to grind a couple of levels to keep up,
there are some great sidequests out there but you really don't have to bother with them if you don't want to by mixing in some space missions and/or pvp.
I do the spaceship dailies (around 30mins), some pvp, the storyline and keep my companions grinding skills whilst taking the odd sidequest and flashpoint (co-op sized instance) like a lot of people have said already, it plays a lot like a single player if you want
[EDIT] bioware are working on neutral alignment options link
Played 1-50 exclusively solo except for Heroic Quests that I chose to do and Flashpoints, because hey, they were pretty cool the first time through.
Honestly, since hitting level cap I haven't touched the game for a week. Not because the game is bad, its great, but because I longed for EVE Online: A Bad Game.
finally owned that bitch Jadus
Just complete chapter one of the Sorcerer storyline.
So, SWTOR:
-Is it worth byung for the PVP part?
-Is it 'shoot a lot of guys to increase your shooting skill'?
-Is the average player about as old as the average WoW-player?
-Is there a decent corporation/guild system?
1) Can a lightside easily get into Jaesa Willsaam's pants?
Yes. But it requires a lot of effort and the ultra rare companion gift: Box of Kittens. After 27 "Box of Kittens" given to Jaesa I was able to socre a kiss on the cheek. To get further into the synthweaved panties, I have to go on some quest that leaves stupid love letters all over the bulkheads and consoles of the Fury while she flops about her quarters, tragically misunderstood. Also at some point I need to strip my clothes off and sparkle in the sunlight. Or was it turn into a wolf? Fuck, I can't remember.
2) Can you be a Jedi?
No. In a horrfic oversight by Bioware, this Star Wars game does not allow you to use the force, or play a Jedi in any way. The closest you can come to such a player class is to equip your shadow knight with the item "Light Stick" and do the emote /elmotickle.
3) Did Fartman finally own that bitch Jadus?
Yes. He managed to gather 24 players and, pushing past the lag, managed to smash the Sith Lord into a red and black smear on the deckplates that the cleaning droids, despite thier efforts, cannot remove entirely.
Posting this here because I know I won't be literally drowned in a sea of fanboi posts.
Dear god, BioWare's Customer Support is terrible. I've been waiting over two weeks for some tickets to get resolved, only to have one closed, with a canned response, that was completely unrelated to the ticket.
Good times.
I actually liked Jadus best sith lord EU
3) yes, same as in EVE, any other MMO. (I shit on your holy cow faggot and piss in your mouth if you're so deluded that you think there is an MMO played exclusively by elderly gentlemen with cups of coffee politely discussing important matters. Reality: There's none, EVE's not one of them either. Asshat pubbie gtfo. /rage)
Good lord the sweet, sweet PvP fail. Some rather hilarious posts on SWTOR's forums today.
The "please don't leave!" award and title ("Founder") if you subscribe for a second month is pretty novel, and more than a little desperate.
The PvP meltdown is pretty funny. Apparently if you have open PvP spaces, population imbalances and stacking rewards for zone control you tend to have one side getting spawn-camped while the dominant side gears up and gains even more advantages. Who'd have seen that coming? .... other than the guys on the test server who pointed it out well before the patch went live.
It's the Republics moaning apparently. I've not got to Illum yet so I've no idea what it's like.
