Russian overexpansion theoretically makes them vulnerable to this, but the time to have started was a couple months ago.

They need to do three things to make this work:

1: Make it a 2 front war by also invading IRC. IRC will go down quickly and it puts NC into Solar's homeland.

2: SBU everything, and try to force them to choose what to defend. Use NC's numerical superiority to overcome the Russian TZ advantage. The fights in the South have shown that being "Johnny one timezone" does not work well in a defensive war.

3: Get anything that cloaks into eath's macro ratter slums. Give his renters no reason to pay him rent and over time the Russian bear will turn white for lack of ISK.

Concentrate on logistic routes and supplies from empire, as the drone regions are not self sufficient.
The key to holding them is Kalevala and Etherium Reach, as you can break up their jump/cyno routes for their renters. Once renters cannot transport minerals/alloys to empire, they will leave quickly.

Actually the biggest worth of Etherium is its location and all of drone regions exports goes through there, both from Solar renters/pets and Xdeath renters/pets.

I think NC knows best that there is no other option than to make such invasion. As what is there to do for the eastern half. there are no more targets......Once Cloud Ring is finished, the western half has the same problem. Lowsec and wormholes wont cut it, the few remaining hostile groups around wont as well.

So it is very easy, either IT or Drones. Third option of not doing anything means future inner fighting, collapses of alliances due to boredom and mass exodus of pvpers south to other games.

Etherium has no R64´s, Kalevala afaik has 2, the more farther to the east the higher the valuable moons count.
There is like 1-2 tech moons in ER, some neodymium.

The shortest route is about 11j via high/low-sec to L4X, or 30+j via GW, both with better staging systems available. If they indeed want to attack the drone regions, their closest attack vector from there would be to 6j to I6-SYN, SOLAR holdings in Cache. That's Angels, though.
