Unless you didn't consider WN to be part of the russian bloc beforehand, there are no powerblocks growing in players here, just taking territory from another powerbloc. I understand you wouldn't be a fan of it since the powerbloc losing space is yours, but assertive Russians make this game more interesting for everyone but Atlas.

So which is it? Stagnation is bad or evil Russians shouldn't be touching poor atlas in the naughty place? If you really take offense to the lack of action they've been providing over the years you should applaud this invasion and then go back to smacking them if they stop fighting after they kill your alliance.
Also, keep in mind that out of the three powerblocs, NC and Russians are both fighting wars on 3 fronts (two of which are against each other). They're the ones doing the fighting and keeping things interesting these days.

RUS isn't really fighting NC unfortunately in return. They're barely fighting for Geminate and almost not at all for CE.

Yes, you're right, it does appear that the Russians have woken. I'm doubtful that their activity burst will last far beyond the conquering of Atlas space however...I think we'll have another year/2 year long buildup.

Well, by now I'm sure everyone knows that Bobby Atlas has stepped down and Gloria's in charge.
So maybe we can stop this speculation and just wait and see how new winds fair the ATLAS boat... I for one wish them good luck!
I don't think that's any more the case than it was before.
There's still some level of relationship between Xdeath/RA and NC that goes back to Delve days and before, so I can't see them being openly hostile (despite Geminate).
Admittedly it's largely centred on goons but they are almost official NC now.
I think the russians will always be a murky coalition with complicated, shifting allegiences, and not truly a third powerblock.

The major connection would have been RA and Goons but since they are largely different entities now, I wouldn't think it would mean much nowadays. Also, RA/XIX would have never made this move without WN wanting some space there, WN and PL have been the true heavy lifters this entire campaign.

I believe WC was abandoned early on when CoW and GC decided to move to LowSec. I think there have been some random alliances that have taken up residence there as of late, including a brief claim for Chirrba.

It's nice to imagine the Russians being a third powerblock but honestly it'll probably just lead to further stagnation. My bet is that a year from now, Atlas, AAA, and ROL will be functionally dead (oh wait, they already are) and IT, NC, and the Russians will just sit around harassing each others pets.
Maybe the stagnation will stop when the 13 year old counterstrike players take all our space.
