Rage has a prime opportunity to grow as a cohesive and effective alliance here. Better people can step up and take charge, the grunts can learn how to roll with the punches and grow a thicker skin, etc or they can collapse like a bunch of whiny carebears and scatter to the next dogpile NC alliance (if there are any...seems everyone was falling back to rage lol).
The fundamental problem with the NC is that its pets never get a chance to cut their teeth and learn some hard lessons. Well here's a perfect opportunity, and it's still comparatively soft considering the things that other now-solid alliances have faced as they grew.
My expectations are pretty low, but I'm rooting for the average grunt here as the underdog and I hope they have the spaceballs to stop playing the game like a bunch of sheltered pussies.

I agree with Grim's reading. NC and the space they occupy go together, and an NC alliance without space will shrink at an alarming rate. Maybe that will reveal a "hard core" at the center. But with reduced numbers in a game where people are throwing around fleets of super-capitals they're likely destined to irrelevance and fragmentation.
