Another rep question
I know I know rep has been done to death.
But maybe one of the mods/admins can answer this one. How much rep does a newly registered poster start with? I ask because some of these new posters are really really bad and I want to nuke them into oblivion with an alphastrike of rep, but it never works.

i started with 10 rep
From experience, a fresh victim has to be neg repped twice by me to hit the red and i have 3k+ rep. +/- rep makes a tiny change compared to the past and i'm not even 100% certain its tied to how much rep an individual has (determining how much -/+ rep they can apply) either.
If they are really that terrible odds are the hivemind will squash them, failing that enough people will think they are terrible to put them in the red.
Have you noticed we more readily dole out scorn than praise here? Odds are a bad poster will get more - reps than +, or so the whole rep system presupposes.

Anyone not 100% aligned with the hive collective ends up in the red, then can slowly move into the positive. The perpetual shitposter (no matter their alignment) that avoids a ban will eventually be red, which doesn't take very long.

New accounts start with 10 Rep. Unless you're a unholy monster with broken Rep like Agathor, Ransomlist or the late Alex Clomsaver you have to Negrep quite a lot until he eventually gets into the reds (this is intentional to make sure a single poster can't bully new posters into oblivion).
Personally i try to moderate EOU with rep and quite equally dole out Posrep and negrep, although that doesn't work that good anymore because the worst shiposters actually seem to take pride in the red bar. I was still very satisfied though when i pushed Opti into the reds and killed his avatar that way.
For some reason every time I get plus repped I get between 1 or 3 points. Where as Agathor reps me I get 13. What the fuck?
Also it seems to me that you can not loose more then 1 point at a time, thou I have not been neg repped enough by high rep characters to prove that theory.

The rep system is an ancient and just system, who are we to question its powers.
Plus, everybody can get rep just by posting good posts.

On a more serious note, good posts get +rep. Funny/original get + rep. Shit posts get -. Such is the sheer volume of posts here now that the hivemind rules and former rep gods able to banish people to the lonely wastelands of the STDB or TurdHouse are neutered so its quite easy for people to pander to one of the more numerous cliques and harvest rep for image macros and not get slapped down by someone with more rep than them.

Oh yeah, no stars that I could see. I also can't see how to edit what the icons are, or edit any of the rep settings. The restructuring of the rep system, and the word filters, were only achieved after Alex sucked up to K and asked him (over and over again) about it.

Some of you will find yourselves with less green bars, and some of you will find yourselves with more red bars. I redid the system which displays how many bars. Here are the new values
