The fact that -A- saved their space because BoB got disbanded is clearly proof of how good they were. Also, for those who don't remember: BoB was doing MAX and the NC was tied with them and the GBC. Then they blued -A- who was literally shopping for every possible blue (a habit that they still have), THEN the NC came down south.
Timeline is important, and the idea that the NC would leave BoB and the GBC alone in the north is beyond stupid. This said, -A- has lost several times outnumbering their enemies so even by their own very logic they are shit, it's not really open for debate. And yes, saving your space because everyone attacked somewhere else doesn't count for being good either.

The big assault hadn't even begun: do you think that, when Delve II happened, we just happened to have all those large towers and fittings and fuel sitting around ready to go within hours? What saved AAA was Haargoth, and they should write him a thank-you note. AAA, even with the help of BoB, Stain, Coven, RoL et al hadn't been able to beat Goonswarm despite their months-long three-pronged attack and everybody at the time was already well aware of how badly things would go for the nascent SC when the NC arrived.
During delve II when I1Y was about a day away from falling and probably taking the entire constellation with it PL reinforced 3 of AAA's R64 Moons in aridia. AAA went to save these moons allowing Goons and the NC to save I1Y and pretty much end Delve II.
