You know I find myself spending much less on ships now that we field Tengus instead of Abaddons. No kidding. It could just be the change of environs. Manny would bring it and feel a bit victorious if he killed 10-15 Abaddons, whereas our current adversaries don't seem to have the same gumption.
My idea was similar, except it involved a armorhac style tackle fleet tanked heavily for kinetic damage made up of guardians, proteusouse and lokis with a second fleet in arty machs that can engage from like 30km~ out of the tengu's missile vomit range.
Basically a hictor bubbles tengus, drop cyno, tacklefleet bridges in and holds those fuckers down and the machs come in and go to town on those kikeboats. It would probably work!!
So you can alpha 1 tengu and by the next time your guns cycle, your dictor is dead and anyone primaried can warp out?

The NC already tried this with tengaroos. They died horribly. The NC has no hope of beating us at our own game - anything they bring we will just bring a better counter. If there is no better counter we, will bring supers. If we can't bring supers we will go somewhere else and kill their supers being dumb. If we can't do that we will do a shaping operation so that we can force a fight which will allow the previous. If we can't do that we'll play BC2 until their players get burnt out and straggle home and then we will kill them.
The NC has absolutely no hope of doing anything to us with current game mechanics. Their only chance to win is broken game mechanics like lag induced BSOD or gun/drone cycle failure. That or some serious diplomacy with the Russians (surrender comes to mind). It sucks to be them, but it’s their fault for building an empire based around one tactic - LAG - as soon as a counter emerges the empire dies.

There are counters to the tengu fleets PL uses, such ridiculousness has been used in wormholes for ages and the active groups in wh space have counters to each other ^^

Sorry let me try again. IMHO the counter isn't in theorycrafting some mystical ship fitting but in doing all the usual (and boring to many) stuff well like fleet comp, focus fire, etc etc. We've seen Tengu's pop so existing ships will do it if used properly (and I mean properly, not even necessarily brilliantly).
The bigger problem is what happens next? PL immediate action seems to be 'on second Tengu death - hot drop the caps'.
So the Tengu counter doesn't need to be 'created', it just needs to actually be DONE.

I'm not great at ship fittings, I'm pretty standard. Granted that's a fuckton better then most other people but I'm just saying that so when inevtiably my "theory crafting" is "lawls" I wont have my legs cut out from under me with a blunt rusty object, merely a sharp object so hopefully my brain can shutoff the pain.
2 useless sentences aside, my counter would be armor loki's. I haven't exactly thought long and hard about it but I think some armor loki's with webs and a (possibly unscannable) loki for some serious range would fair somewhat well against the tengus. I haven't efted it but I assume they'd have similar ehp/resistances (maybe more?) and hopefully half decent damage. Probably should toss in some proteus as well for some sexy long point range to go with the sexy long web range. Still fighting at 100km I doubt they'd do much but I figure it'd be better then throwing stuff like bs at em or expensive t2s that they'll use as chew toys.
Suppose you could throw firewall on it too, whatevers. The real kick of it though is through PL's quick formup, ~metagaming~, and not needing to sit in a pos for hours whining about getting people to form up they can quickly change setups (which they usually have) and go after you while most people lack the capability to have a fleet even come in the proper ship types they want and a fair number of logis.
The hunter's cruelty desires not only death, it wants the blood of a valiantly fought but _pointless_ death.
NC needs to get more smug for this shit to get interesting again.

No matter what the counter is, PL will have ages to change their comp if the NC is fielding it, and unless your counter can hotdrop caps/supers to match the PL drop, its utterly pointless.
