It does raise the question how battle hardened and ready is IT for a 6 month lag n' crash campaign, but they probably feel confident that they have brought enough decoys (Atlas and the rest of the SC) to take enough heat off them.
It will be interesting, do we sever the serpent's head, ie hit IT hard and just leave speed bumps in the other regions or do we try and knock out the weak links and then leave IT alone. Alternatively, we can just bring everyone together and eliminate the 5 front strategy forcing them to fight on one front with a number of allies they probably haven't racked up a lot of time fighting with. I and most people I know have moved everything that is non-essential, we are basically throwing into this whatever we care to lose so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
How can you force them to fight on one front? Teams 2-5 will just take all your other regions and they could even just blueball you in front one.
I wish this war would last as long as my vacation does (1 week).

the hot drop on IT mid point was fun, alot more fun than the past few months dealing w/ the NC. I even used my alt with no siege mod to hot drop w/ the NC fleet.

Who cares? We lost all but Tribute, Tenal and Branch in Max and had them all back fairly quickly after Max was over.
Morale is the biggest factor in 0.0 warfare. It doesn't matter how many pilots or how much isk you have, if your morale flat-lines then you are dead. It is very unlikely we can hold all the regions we are occupying at present so why give the enemy free morale boosts by forcing people out by removing them from their space. Much better if they turn up and find the space tumble weed blowing through the systems. If all these entities instead are holding pockets of space in Tribute then the only way to destroy the NC would be for everyone to invade the fortress.
Servers wont handle this conflict and it is better just to fast track to the conclusion than waste months getting to the same point, in the long-run it will inflict far less damage to our friends and deny the enemy the morale they desperate need to keep their circle jerk coalition together.
This will be the dullest all-out-war ever in the history of EVE, I just want to escalate to the point everyone realises it is pointless.
If both sides' best plan to win this is: "crash every node". What happens if CCP fix the server?

I agree. But if you lose every single moon/station outside of Tribute, I doubt there will be that much morale left outside of MM. Your ability to blob effectively will be compromised.
Keeping you contained in 1 region wouldn't be a bad strategy for the attackers. It would be a long siege so who has the most stamina will win. Although your enemy will be living off your resources from your captured space while you argue over limited resources you have left. I give you a slim chance of surviving this but that hinges on the attackers making a horrible mistake.
I like how everyone takes what molle said as being "our sole purpose of going north is to crash every system until they surrender!", when he was simply stating a fact that when you have such a shitty server as we do and so many ppl wanting to fight you will end up crashing it whatever you do anyway.

The thing is though, if it does come to that and it's the sole region to conquer then that would allow every entity to focus on it, giving pretty much the ability to hold the system 23/7. If the NC do hold out at an "alamo" then they will lose, they have to be a lot more tactically sound than that to get victory. Mainly by inflicting "MAX" damage to entities in order to try and force them out of the war. Boring them may work on some people but I think the potential of ousting the NC would be a great motivation for some to keep on going. This isn't Tri, we were the most easily bored alliance in the world and blue balling/creating an unplayable environment is the best way to stop Tri achieving things.Then all that is left is to attack tribute, which will spike MM/RZR participation just like the last time, which will more than be enough to continue the hot sexy blobbage mmmmmmmmm
That said, I am far from an expert on what tactics win things. I merely lock things I am told to and shoot them (if lag permits).

Whats different today against the past is that from strategic pov this is the endgame for 0.0, at least for this year.

No matter how small gang/roam etc stuff is appealing, it is not what in eve makes past, present and future, thats capital and fleet warfare. What can you do with caps south....hotdrop bricks´squad maybe
So SC groups have 1 target left, that will give them any of this warfare, that all the 30+mil SP players, which are the backbone of every group, have skilled and waited for. For these players there is nothing left to do in eve (hereby all clever vets here on the forum who already had gf), so the stamina and determination is this time here, not for a week battle, but for months of campaigns, as for any pvp account it makes no sense to stay in blue land south. Its like pvp relocation with save renter/ratting heaven south making you isk and now worrying about loosing it.
NC has one chance, and that is that SC cannot coordiante working together as a good team. On the other hand if they all pile in Tribute, with all around lost, all the pets that make 3/4 of the NC will just rent, failcascade or disband....as one region wont pay for your alliance needs/pvp needs/upkeep.
Maybe MM/Rzr have vast stockpile full of isk to stay in NPC/tribute forever, but has Majesta/Rage/WI./MH/SP/etc....i doubt it, once the every day income is lost, ratting is very dangerous, those are just casual players, and they fall down like autumn leafs.
Its a game, so if player in order to play, has to grind isk, to burn it in lag and for no visible gain, will just fo it after months, and with most of the current income makers of NC in SC hands, the NC has just shorter life span stick. Every lost moon/lost system makes NC weaker and SC stronger.
If SC takes just pets space and the moons, disrupts enough isk making capabilities of individual players, they dont really have to conquer everything to make NC as we know them now (huge blob) fail.

The nice thing about Dominion is if you absolutely have to make isk you can go run an anomaly in a system with 10 other dudes. If they installed the upgrades across all of Tribute they could easily sustain the entire NC, they just won't have huge amounts of space to macro rat and do exploration. The oldtime NC people already have dealt with invasions like this before and the people who aren't used to full time invasions already got a taste of it in Geminate and Pure Blind so I think the NC is going to be far better prepared for a 6 month grind than the South is, which means that a blitzkrieg on Tribute would be the smartest thing to do but apparently Molle thinks that attacking moons and systems nobody bases out of is a better strategy.
Butter Dog: So is the South. Spending all your time fighting an enemy 6 regions away isn't really what real carebears like to do. The difference is the NC carebears are fighting for their ~honor~ and their precious space, so they would be far more inclined to step up than those in the South.
a direct attack on tribute is just about the most stupid strategy i can think of - it would be the only way I could think the NC might win the war
NC at max strength and numbers, insane lag and node crashes, focus of all SC forces in one place negating the strength of a five front war, SC giving up and going home having accomplished nothing
far better to take all their tech moons and empty their other regions, wait for the inevitable exodus of the fairweather bears who make up 80% of the NC, THEN go for tribute

You're basing everything on the idea that WI/MH/SP/ZAF/-R- will all jump ship once their regions are lost. I happen to think the NC has fostered a really strong relationship among all the various entities and MM/RZR have treated them pretty well. Look at what the GBC did in Delve 2. BoB managed to pull them along all the way till the end even when everything was dead and gone and the GBC even assembled when the corpses resurrected into IT. If you think the GBC relationships were better than the current NC relationships are then you are pretty deluded and should probably stop reading this forum.
tl;dr I happen to think that the people who contribute to the NC fleets will stay around and the people who don't will probably leave anyways so it's not going to be a real loss in a strategic pov.
Its in the NC's interest not to do so. We want as few Russians to play as possible.
