Let me make this simple for you. The sheer numbers involved make it so if anyone actually tries to fight, the node will crash. You're looking at probably ~1000 NC fleets and ~3000 total SC fleets. Irony overload
The fight of P-2 with 1400+ in local was reinforced by CCP and crashed god knows how many times (more than 3). Right before DT that day, you still have hundreds of people still in there, not connected to the server in any way, but still appearing in local. You could actually scan some down and pop their ships even 6+ hours after the fighting. They were logged in to the game, but not logged in at their computers/terminals. The irony of it is the system still lagged, like it was committing resources to all those zombie pilots on falsely logged in.
If you guys want to try 2000 in local, then get ready to do a whole lot of nothing....

On another note, this will probably be the worst campaign in eve's history due to lag. You can't even travel with 100 people without getting stuck for a couple minutes, not to mention 200v200 lags like no tomorrow...Anything bigger you will get into those "grid load" issues where you will be basically turkey shot. But we can't just all sit idly for months upon months waiting for CCP to fix shit...
Either way this war will most definitely force CCP to fix the lag issues, at least, i see that the best thing coming out of this war

The only people who have any right to be bitter over Insurgency are Tri's membership and the NC's leaders. In Tri's case because their leaders fucked up and broke the alliance's back over it and in the NC's case because your leaders repeatedly lied to them about your intentions in which case how the fuck did you expect them to react?
We actually liked Insurgency because they had spunk and they were proactive and aggressive, they just got greedy and stupid, which is a deadly combination. Getting into the NC good books is like getting a government job, you really have to be fucking incompetent on a cosmic level to get kicked out. Insurgency was that stupid. It is a shame, they would have been a good northern neighbour. It is good flying through Venal though and seeing some old faces.
Long time reader, first time poster.
Been out of eve for a few weeks now due to various issues, lastly being my pc is dead. My corp, (D00M. if they haven't booted me for inactivity) are now a part of R0L so the potential of this war is great from my own perspective as it is for a lot of Tri/ex Tri members. Mainly because we have been fighting the NC since before the name was given to them.
It's the first time D00m. members will potentially have numerical advantage against them. We have had alot of difficulties in the past with their numbers and we have had many failiures because of that. Of course we could have made an equally large nap list to compete, but from a personal point of view I loved the challenge. We napped more people than ever before (discounting when we helped NC in querios years ago, well until D2 and FLA decided getting off their high horse was too much effort and fractured relationship beyond repair.) for the latest Pure Blind war but we still couldn't even come close to matching NC at a consistant level.
That saying, the impending war should feel like knocking the difficulty down a level or 2 from the normal wars with NC. I am interested in how the they react to this invasion. It's the biggest challenge they have faced before and it will make or break them. It won't change the way eve is, but breaking them up (temporarily as we know they would reform) would be monumental in that they have existed for so long now as a group. The lag will be massive, possibly a deciding factor in who wins. I don't care, shooting the NC is all I am good for and i'm not overly good for that.
I hope my next psu to arrive isn't dead on arrival so i can take part in it from the beginning.

Eh, I am not really sure the NC can survive this; too many dudes against them. Quality wise, the NC is just as good as the other blocks which is kinda funny anyway (2 years ago, on a pilot by pilot case, no one could say that MM was on par with AAA or BoB, if you think about it).
On the plus side looking at GK inc and the dudes in Curse I'm quite content if it really becomes like the Chinese server. Hordes of clueless dudes to gank + easy access to ratting and mining if you feel so inclined. Plus, after all, Walking in Stations could be fun.
edit: to clarify a bit, I know I don't play but I still have a couple of space dudes unsubbed plus the space dudes I gave away. At the moment I'm looking at it like you look at a game in development which you can't play but want to see how it turns out anyway.

Half of the people in the Southern Coalition will be bored to tears with the lag after the first engagement. It seems like a pretty pointless move to me but Molle sounds like he has something he needs to prove and will stop at nothing, including psychological warfare suggesting that NC alliances will switch sides.
I'm not really sure the majority of the NC, or anyone who matters anyway, will give a rats arse who joins IT's side. Whatever way this ends, Razor, MM etc have proven time and time again that as alliances they have solid foundations and I don't really think IT will accomplish anything of any substance with this campaign.

The game is more interesting when Molle's on a roll. From Apocrapha to Dominion, nullsec got pretty boring. I know there's lag issues post Dominion, but at least there's movement on the SOV map, with more to come. These major alliance battles are a lot more interesting that which is better ore to mine, Veldspar or Scordite.

AAA is clearly the most stagnant force in eve, they have literally never done a foreign deployment and just sit on their regions and build titans. Basically all they do is help the winning side and dogpile. Name a single alliance AAA has killed that was competent.
