IT caps started sieging towers with dreads in 1-S. We dropped them without support, along with about 5 titans at our pos. Looks like IT will have more cap kills by the end of this fight, our support's just arrived

Goons dropped on us we had about equal dread/carrier numbers but they had 4 titans.
At the end of the fight we had more caps than when we started but took us a bitch of a time getting our titans on the field due to fucked up jump distance (1 gate jump though).

We hold the field and almost all hostile caps dead.
Some managed to get inside the pos shields (including all 4 titans and BFM mom).

-R- + goon support came with bc heavy fleet over 100+

Goonswarm titans and other caps jumped out from the POS around which the fight happened, now in the "wrapping up phase" at the moment. Seems like the fight went in our favour but that's about as much guessing I'm willing to do before KB upgrades roll in.

To summarize: IT jumped 50ish caps into 1-SMEB and started sieging towers, first one was reinforced without incident, and during the 2nd one goons decided to make a fight out of it and jumped capitals (and fleet? I was in a dread so didn't move to check) about 300 million km away from the POS. I personally recall goon leviathan and erebus on the field at least, if there were more is unknown, I'm sure the goons can fill in the blanks. Capital fight seemed to favor IT, what happened with battleships and support is yet to be decided/unknown. Time for a stront refill for me.

Also noticed a Razor Moros there. Hi Phreeze?

Odds seeemed reasonably even at the start, then usual snowball effect happened when FCs pinged about cap fight kicking off on irc and suddenly we had an uncertain number more of those, but probably upwards of 20 gained during the fight. Killboards will have the numbers later no doubt.

http://www.killboard.it/?a=kill_related&kll_id=128821 for the killboard link on our side and https://killboard.goonfleet.com/battles/1697 on goonswarm side. Ours is showing 26 dread losses, at a quick count 10 or so were doomsdayed on our side and on goon side I could find one DD'd dread. The presence of the goon titans from early on evens the k/d considerably given the IT ones arrived on the field relatively late in fight.

Noticed you managed to hang in there for quite a while, as far as I could tell you were the last dreadnaught targeted. Took forever to go down since everyone had some module lag/jammed guns/etc. I think I got something like 4 shots off on you in total (in a Rev at that. no reloads etc.), otherwise guns stuck.

Heh. All in good fun, cap fights still get some excitement going even if you're a bitter vet. Good fun, especially if you have a name starting with something later in the alphabet
That Leviathan slowboating back inside the bubble caused some momentary confusion in the "whatever you're doing, drop it and target the titan" sense.

Well fire hawk landed on top of omec but I managed to jump before the bump took proper effect. I had no chance of getting back into shields due to what must have been subcaps

Felt like taking a swing in early euro tz to see what we could get. A lot more than I expected in the end. We chose the engagement range so we came in with close range guns, but it was my mistake not listening to a capswarm member and when you siege after bumping on warpin the dreads gain 10x mass and never stop, so they drift out of range; even the guys who are only going at like 30m/s when they siege. Then they get stuck in siege due to lag and can't rewarp.

The first 3 minutes I almost thought it was going to be a massacre given we hadn't yet drifted out of range yet and we killed 3 dreads in about 90 seconds on top our titans dding 4, but it looks like it'll be about even. Not the result I wanted, but I can live with it considering IT had like 70 dreads at the end and only half of our capitals were still in range after 10 minutes.

Yeah, that bumping is severely annoying.I took an initial bump at 230 m/s or and after 3 minutes of surfing in siege mode I was still doing 30 m/s. Had it's effect on us as well with the ships spreading all over the place, but obviously nothing like if we had been short range.

It has been a long time i read that goons lost because they didn't know the game mechanics too well.
    Waiting for KB's...

Nice attempt though, you need some balls to engage IT in that tmz, clearly IRC does help.

Seems only some of you switched to close range guns looking at your loss mails.
The 4 titans DD'ed like 3 times each I believe, so that is like half the losses showing atm.
To bad our titans had to come in via crap midpoints etc and were slowed considerably

We started with about equal cap numbers, but our guys just kept on pouring in so in the end we had more than when we started.

Will most likely turn out pretty even in k/d ration, or a slight advantage to your side.

seems CCP tried to introduce Fog Of War mechanics by randomly not generating all the killmails, so nobody knows who won or not!

warping in at zero in a pulse rev, bouncing and sailing gently away from the fight for the entire duration of my siege cycle was pretty entertaining, fortunately I'd bought Radio XL with me so I could snipe for crappy damage as I disappeared over the horizon

Hey pubbies, enjoy this Mittani update (centered on Delve):

    1/22/10

Things got off to a late start yesterday because of the Dominion 1.1 deployment. Post-downtime, -A- blobbed 49 with approximately 200 people. They repped their towers there and spent four hours sitting around with those 200 people and got no ~goodfights~, then they went home. Notably, Sys-K and -A- took their caps home with them, officially pulling out of the system from a strategic level. One SysK dread pilot said something to the effect of 'I spent 2 weeks in 49 and was used once, I almost self-destructed in frustration'. Good times.

For IT, 1/21 was a terrible day. Enjoi formed up the IT fleet at 1900, netting about 200 people. He proceeds to lose 64 battleships in one bombing run to Waffe, then loses the rest of it to the Drake/Scimitar fleet. Even our Titans decided to get in on the subcap-killing action. This inspired a tears thread on their forums which was quickly lotka'd.

Insult to injury? A few hours later, IT loses 7 carriers and a dread to Vanguardperiod alliance in Fountain, doing god knows what. I don't even know what's going on anymore.

We repped out Sakht pos without incident at 4:00.

Today, Molle has formed up a somewhat anemic fleet and has sieged... a jump bridge in 1-SMEB. We're short-timing our towers so there'll be a big 'save our shit' op tonight.

Mid-day update: We hotdropped the IT capfleet in 1-SMEB, as we outnumbered their caps and fuck it, why not. Unfortunately for us, we fit short range guns and were intending to go in at facerape range. Due to the joyous new Dominion 1.1 mechanics, the mass adjustment in siege mode meant that our sieged dreads had massive inertia and kept floating in space, never stopping, taking them out of the range of their guns. A huge fight ensued and we should have, by all rights, died horribly. However, due to the efforts of our Titan pilots and some heroic dreads who came in late without having the opportunity to swap out into shortrange setups, we ended up losing 29 dreads to 27 killed. Whoops!

    1/21/10

Yesterday was amusing from a 'wow we killed 5 or 6 carriers' perspective, but hardly a megabattle. We killed two towers, one IT tower in 49 at ~15:00ish (3 carriers down), one Daisho tower in A3-LOG at ~21:00ish (2 carriers down). Then in us tz we repped our iHub in 49, which we ourselves had sieged the other day.

    Quote
Personal note so I don't forget tomorrow. We popped the IT tower which came out at 15:00 and nailed 3 carriers. -A- showed up with a small gang to defend it and we killed them.

Later on IT made a fleet of 180 people and parked them on a titan, waiting for us to go for the A3-LOG Daisho tower at 19:45. We didn't bother having a formal op for this tower. Their fc, enjoi, told their fleet that goons were 'reshipping' and had a fleet of 60bs and 15 dreads waiting for the tower. After two hours or so IT gave up and went home, the ghost fleet they were hunting having never shown up... or even existed, as anyone with a fucking jabber connection would know.

they failed to remember to rep the A3 tower in question fully after disbanding their op. Because 'fuck, why not' we dropped titans on it and killed a pair of carriers trying to rep it, and are now about to blow the thing up since it never made it past 50% shields.

There's not much going on today, unless we make a play for the towers coming out of RF in 49 in early euro - a bunch of Romanian, Coven, -A- etc staging towers, mostly timed for 17:00ish.

    1/20/10

I had a sneaking suspicion that the 'final fight' for 49- would end up with no goodfights at all, and unfortunately I was right. The combination of our SBU trick and the sheer mass of capitals we assembled (300+ subcaps, 150+ caps) left our exhausted foes aborting their op at the very last moment - but not before the stupid fucks stayed up until 3am on a worknight.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, I'll explain the SBU thing. Because we onlined our own SBU's and shot our own iHub, our SBU's turned invulnerable, meaning that they would be completely untouchable until our outpost in 49 came out of reinforced. If, hypothetically, we decided that we would like to delay the fight for another 3 hours or so (forcing our foes to literally stay up all night with no sleep) we could simply offline our own SBU's with a click, forcing the enemy to put up their own SBUs and camp them for 3 hours.

On top of that, just before their op began, we installed a cynojammer upgrade in 49 and onlined a jammer at a faction hellstar, which we parked the fleet at. As soon as they found out about this, they called a meeting between -A-, SysK and IT leadership and abandoned their efforts. We proceeded to try to bait them into attacking us anyway by cycling the jammer, than said 'fuck it' and reinforced everything in the system.

The hostile response to their crushing loss in 49 (and all those man hours wasted staying up into our prime time) has been both hilarious and dissonant. CCP is often blamed, and statements that 'well, brute force won't work' are then backed up with vows to apply more brute force to the Goon Problem. They're flailing. Of course, at a tactical level, we've been punching way above our weight class while heavily outnumbered and generally mauling them, and more and more goons have been resubbing to come back from the carnage.

In the near term, Molle has announced that everyone in IT is supposed to be moving all thier shit into Sakht, including all their caps. Unlike PR- we can't bubble them into a lowsec station, but it's very easy to grief them since Sakht is right off our bridge net (from 1-SMEB) and we can dock there with impunity. See this thread generally; now that they're all living there, it should be much simpler to mess with them.

Expect R64s to begin being sieged, and perhaps a multi-front station attack.

We have a SysK tower in 49 that just came out of RF (5-2, out at 15:06 eve) but all our fcs are asleep. Daisho's shitty tower in A3-LOG is out at 19:55 eve, and our own iHub is out at 1:40 in 49.

Here's some reposted porn from the other thread re: the 49 defense op.

The "brute force" did not work, because CCP don't allow us to play this game when we bring our forces in mass to defeat our enemies, if this is the ground where we have to fight, we have to change our tactics and adapt.

    1. Get your shit out of NOL. Move your stuff and your clone into a cache along the webway or into NPC Delve right off a webway jump. Sort and clarify your assets; god willing, this war will last a long time. Once you sort out a good 'invasion asset system' it can last you for years and none of your stuff will ever be at risk. Take the time to get it sorted now.
    2. Posgunner alts. We still need them and will begin using them again, since IT is probably going to go back to attacking R64s post-49.
    3. Train for caps. Being able to throw 150+ caps at a problem and not listen to DBRB on teamspeak at the same time is bliss.
    4. 0wn everything~

I see mittani is still a smug motherfucker. I do agree with him though, that was a pretty weak offensive after all that buildup. I haven't seen this much hurf blurf followed by failure since the first few months of Eve War I.

No matter that mittens is prolly a fag, these updates are not long, factual and entertaining. So he gets this much better than 99% alliance leaders(commadners, whatever), they clear, decisive and motivating, with the right flavour of propaganda, enjoyed to read that.

And iam not saying it cause we both have the exact same profession

People in that thread are already discussing what we should do after IT and pets give up on Delve.

How about aqcuiring the real Fountain (of tears) and then promptly leaving it because who could be assed holding all that space anyway.

Here is Mittani's update for today:

    1/23/10

Not too much happened yesterday after our capital welp. We mostly sat around and watched the killmails float in slowly, then were shocked (at the allied command level) to discover that rather than being routed and massacred due to short range guns + drift, we ended up at a 27-29. vOv

The big news today is that Sys-K and -A- have invaded... Paxton Federation, a CVA ally most famous in Great Power politics for holding of BoB for more than a month in the First Great War. They've put up SBU's in D-G and apparently in Liam's fevered little mind this has something to do with the grand objective of, well, killing us.

ALL PILOTS ARE REQUIRED, WE ARE EXPECTING HEAVY ENEMY DEFENCE!

    WHEN: 23/01/2010
    TIME: 15:00 EVE TIME
    WHERE: A1-A

    Required Ships:
    1) Sniper Battleships
    2) HIT Team
    3) EMT Logistics
    4) Dictors
    5) Battlecruisers

    Note:
Hac's are not allowed in the fleet Except Vagabonds.
Capitals are NOT required for this operation.

    Objective:
As stated, is time to make CVA go back in their cages and let us do our job against goonswarm, let's kick their ass and let's go back to our main objective.

As of a few minutes ago, Molle got together a significant cap fleet and dropped it on our R64 in Sakht without engaging siege. We have a proper 1d10hr timer, nbd. Expect an op of some kind as he takes this fleet and does something else with it!

The whole goon excuse of "oh we siege and all drifted faaar out of range of the fight is nice btw.

At no point in that fight was more than a handfull of hostile dreads more than 50km away.

Reading mittens talking to goons must be like having heard hitlers propaganda during the final stages of ww2.

Hahaha jesus christ you are the most retarded person.

The goons have every reason to crow right now. They're stopped your offensive in 49 soundly. You have yet to demonstrate the ability to drive them out of Delve, even with AAA et al helping.

Also, why would they need to make excuses for an essentially even cap fight in Euro timezone? You should be fucking ashamed that you didn't utterly rout them. How do you propose to make progress if they can challenge you in euro and stop you dead in US?

Agreeing w/ this. If GS is contesting you in EU tz you're doing it wrong.

What has Goonswarm done so great that they have to crow about? They managed to get more capitals in their own timezone on one night, when IT didn't deploy theirs. Then they prevented the station from dropping by using a dubious game mechanic, although innovative. That's it. They haven't killed a cap fleet in US timezone, although they were exposed numerous times, haven't killed any titans/moms. They were challenged numerous times in their prime time by Euro timezone alliances. Their allies are burning around the map, their most capable ally is disposed of and moved to another part of the map. They are alone and made many retarded diplomatic decisions. Welcome to reality.

I don't see how this is a dubious game mechanic. Dropping SBU's to preemptively reinforce your own structures strategically was discussed when the system details were released. I foresee this tactic being used in other New Eden hot spots in a similar manor. Knowing when your attacker is at it's strongest is all part of the game, Goons using this information to have their structures invulnerable during a time at which -A- & Friends would be at their strongest is a good use of this.

There are other interesting things you can do with the current sovereignty mechanics (and other game-play mechanics), they just haven't been used/found yet. Most of these will have their drawbacks too and thus could backfire...but such is life in Eve.

    You can't, it's not that you won't.

Anyways, we are sitting in 1-s waiting for IT to show up, if this is Molles masterplan then it's working, we are literally dieing due to boredom.

Giving up their space in the east and then letting Atlas push back up after their little fight in Insmother, backing RA instead of ED and IRC, letting SoT hold Y-2ANO for so long, doing nothing to reintegrate former enemies into 0.0 space when it was still controlled by you, (maybe) not helping the north in Cloud Ring.

BLAST lost both their stations and the Skaven (http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Fountain/Skaven) constellation close to Fountain NPC core to be replaced by IT sov. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/region/Fountain/changes
And much smaller HUN Reloaded kept its constellation.

Anyone elaborate the reasons? (can think of we need this space for us, or blast not having the isk to run, or we dont want any alliance to have stations, etc.)

Tell me then, how did GS manage to destroy 27 capitals when IT did not deploy theirs? Indeed, IT made it quite clear that not only did they deploy capitals, but that they had ample capital reinforcements come throughout the fight. Furthermore, regardless of how they prevented the station from dropping, they prevented it nonetheless - perhaps IT needs to learn to, dare I say, evolve?

Then there's the issue of diplomatic blunders. While the Goons have certainly made errors in that arena, the diplomatic situation does not bode well for IT either. -A-'s prompt withdrawal suggests that they, unsurprisingly, are unwilling to commit to the prolonged invasion of Delve which would be quite necessary to rout the swarm. While they may offer assistance, IT will need nothing less than complete commitment on -A-'s part to complete their objective. GoonSwarm will not crumble like Pandemic Legion; they want their space, and have proven many times their ability to rally their member base in grim circumstances.

There are many things to criticize GoonSwarm over, but you fail to offer any holding much validity. Instead, you choose to grasp upon whatever current events put themselves forward and twist them to your purposes, making your contributions quite useless. There is a reality to the situation not spoken by Goons, or IT, or any entity blinded by their stake in the war, but you certainly aren't the one defining it.

It isn't as much a case of 'you're not killing us fast enough' as it is a case of 'you're not killing us at all.'

AAA/IT are the aggressors here. All goonswarm has to prove is that it can defend. so far it has done so admirably.

    Also you're a big fag

I have to confess, I'm at a complete loss as to how/why this campaign is going the way it is. When we hit fountain there were multiple ops scheduled daily - in addition to ad-hoc ops when enough people were online. We had roaming gangs running about the place and various gatecamps. We had regular titan bridges to move stuff about and there was great turnout. At the moment it feels like we've had all the talking and done shit-all about it. Hopefully things will pick up soon with more ops ect and people will get more motivated. Taking fountain has been a bit of a two-edged sword really - one one hand we have moons to pay for reimbursements, but on the other having space to carebear in and protect has sapped a lot of our resolve. It's easier to motivate people who have nothing to fight for.

Would have to agree with this, there's no follow-through at the moment and the ops tempo is unusually low. It's like the campaign hasn't even started yet, just a helluvalot of logistics ops and the rare combat one.
So personally I got my dread parked in Sakht and another character in Fountain carebearing during the downtime, very much in a wait and see mode for now.

On those sovereignty changes in Fountain: Similar setup than in Delve. Corporations A & B live in some constellation, X and Y in another , except now we have blue alliances in the mix as well. Thus the sovereignty changes here and there, hardware changing hands and so forth. Consolidating it under holding corp or the control of the corporations living in the area.
