There are too many 'maybes' going on in the market speculation over Neo and Tech.

The profiteering and market manipulation is obvious, but there are large numbers of people that would usually have nothing to do with such endeavors investing isk in moon materials that everyone and their dog is saying will be new bottlenecks.

The reality of the situation is that there is no point in buying Technetium on the market at the moment unless you are a newish Tech 2 producer that wants to buffer your production for the next few months in the eventuality that price DOES spike for a short time period. If it doesn't you can defray your losses against surges in Tech 2 demand that occur when a patch hits.

There is a massive surplus of tech that have already been stockpiled, long before anyone knew it might increase significantly in price and before it was even leaked by Lark that Neo would increase in value; and at the time you may remember some of us posting and stating that Neo wasn't the moon material that was in question insofar as Dominion changes.

The people that have stockpiled Tech are mainly two types and yes there are exceptions and other demographics involved:

Producers.

These are the people that actually NEED Tech and are vulnerable to short term market events unless they maintain surplus at all times. So they do, maintain surplus that is. Producers are not necessarily also primary moon miners, its worth bearing this in mind.

Market speculators.

This group includes people that bought Tech before the possibility of increase became so widespread amongst the population, those whom ALWAYS buy up stocks of minerals and moon materials before expansions to take advantage of swings in the market and last are the margin traders late to the game but hoping to make isk by buying at high prices now and in expectation that they might get higher. This last group are going to be completely fleeced by the other two.

Any corp is going to have people that like to rat/make shit/exploration or whatever and some people who like to PvP, but they're not mutually exclusive. You need to have something to spend the isk on and you need to have enough isk to PvP.

Especially if you're new to 0.0 you're going to want to sell the aspect of fun PvP on top of good ratting to your members.

Indeed, it did. I guess they seem to be doing ok, but all their success seems to stem from RZR holding their hand. Its just from fighting with them, then beside them, I have seen a lot of noob mistakes, as well as some horrible fits.

Most of that is normal bad, but coupled with the fact that I have never seen a true fleet of their own come out alive is the unsettling part. Lack of FC's and cap power would do that.

I guess the idea to grow an alliance like that is a sound way to get a loyal ally (read Defiant) so it will be interesting to see how they grow.

Best of luck with them. I spent 2 years in IRC, unless they've changed dramatically, leadership will be an issue. And don't fleet with Kami as FC.

Kami fucks up lot of times, but many times he got the job done for IRC. There have been much worse FC´s. Hes very young, and sometimes didnt have the empathy skills to handle different kind of personalities.

The best FC IRC ever had (even though he sucks goons dick, which is shamefull, but hes American, so i guess its love) is Farham. Capable of organizing and executing ops - like the BNX hotdrop vs. Smackkillatlas caps and multiple others. Moreso, what pretty much 0.1% FC´s in eve have, he can calm down all people, even the fucktards, and make them just follow orders, with a calm head withtou screaming on you.

I hate people who yell and scream to get things done, either you have the brain and balls to make people do what they are supposed to do, or you just shit faggot and should gtfo.

Sure Farham has his flaws, and hes not very popular by many people now (lol), but he was capable and natural leader, which had respect from second 1 in fleet.

Also it seems Shrike jumped to MN5 few hours before DT today to doomsday some goonies and got tackled. IT dropped carriers on him to rep him and additional titan + about 150-200 (?) conventional IT ships got to MN5 soon too. Shrike made it out in about 3/4 armor. Lag was pretty bad.

Abut the fight in El8-4Q

It's not our fault NC + friends didn't bring proper ships to fight in!

What happened was that we had some business in a system adjacent to el8 (jc-) and we had been waiting for a hostile move for quite a while, but nothing really happened short of NC scouts keeping a vigilant eye in the system, so, we decided CO2 and PA could handle their own, and we moved out to EL8 as we got word from a scout that there was an NC gang numbering about 70 in KI-.

AS we moved out of jc. a cyno had gone up and TCF had apparently bridged in, but we weren't entirely sure what they had bridged in though as we had lost eyes in the system right then, so we parked on the KI gate and waited for something to happend .. Initially it loked as though NC was wanting us to jump into them, but Twinkey kept us all patient (we all know Tri is ADD kids like all hell) by telling us sweet stories from children's books.

So at some point NC thought it'd be an awesome idea to jump ~70 hac/BC gang straight into a 50+ RR bs gang with some light support, I'm not entirely sure what went through their hivemind, but rape ensued, and as we were aware of TCF being in jc- we thought they were doing this to stall us from something, but No, shortly after the KI gang comes in tcf jumps through to el8 and then warp straight into our bubbles, with a Co2 / PA fleet right on their tail, basically feeding us more kills while trying to get out to KI.

All in all, this was a NC brainfart, and I'm not exactly sure what they were hoping to achieve, but bringing spoons to a knife fight is generally a bad idea =)

Carriers and dreads jumped in with him while we were waiting for a PL jumpbridge. IT then had their support fleet burn to system and our fleets sat in POSes while occasionally coming out to kill bait carriers in safespots. He was about 80k off the pos we were at when he DDed but PL was in the shields and we had a fair amount of warning with a hostile cyno going off on grid.
On a side note it was fun hearing "Shrike is primary" on our TS.

I dont think you can grow your own alliance, just the fact it's been nurtured will make it weak and dependant. To get a good ally you need to find someone of equal strength or similar views and values and then stick by them, through thick of thin, usually they will do the same.

Agree, which alliance has been nurtured and directed by other and became strong. If the group doestn go through shit and budilding up from day 1 without the protecting condom - they will be soft and able to add some numbers, but in case of serious threat totally disintegrate. Plus as they are unable to make their own ops, it takes leadership resources from the main alliances anyway.

I think in the last year, there havent been a succesfull NC operation, where MM/Razor wasnt the leading element. These guys are 5 lvl´s higher in resources, commitment, leadership, fc skill and pvp quality than MH,WI,Majesta,Rage,Elysium, etc. together.

Problem is that the good, hardcore pvpers will at first opportunity join either the leader alliance - say Razor/MM in this - and what remains are noobs, carebears, spies and people wha are into a relax make isk, and fuck all attitude. Any competent FC will go mad and gtfo after few tries to get a solid gang together.

Althought the indy, isk making backbone is important, the biggest asset are the 6h daily, no RL nerdz, who like to kill stuff, who know how to kill stuff, and some of them knows how to organize and lead killing of stuff. Those tend to group together in, and after that they called competent or pvp alliances.

This forum is hilarious. This is what really happened:

Shrike and a dozen carriers were sent in as bait to a PL POS. Shrike lit his DD killing a chunk of goons who were stupidly outside the POS shields.

We then sat shrike and the carriers there and waited. Eventually PL engaged with 50 BS or so, so we jumped another titan in and ddd a chunk of them.

We waited some more, maybe 20 minutes. Shrike never dipped below 95% armor, with plenty of RR left over.

Then, when it became obvious no capital hotdrop was forthcoming, we brought in the fleet to kill the last couple of bubbles and another large chunk of PL fleet, and left.

The idea that you somehow "caught" shrike when he warped in with 15 carriers at 150 to a PL POS is retarded, as is the idea that he in any way "escaped" anything.....

I've heard PB sucks. Maybe we're hitting Council because they're the worst alliance in the NC (which I'd beg to differ, Elysium is obviously the worst space holding alliance in eve), and therefore the most likely place to get GF out of the NC (as in, they'll defend the council because they're supposed to, not because they want to, and therefore we won't get the megablob 100% of the time). Just wild guessing on my part, tho.

I'm not with the alliance leadership, however right now I think we're just kinda going around killing stuff for the loot / salvage mainly, however, nothing surprises me about this alliance anymore ..
