Well Im pretty much neutral in the whole business. Dont know Hurley, never had any dealings with SOT.
But I have to say, after reading all the threads in the various forums, SOT havent come out of this well.
Tell me where Im missing the point, but they killed a personal titan of one of their own members on, at best, the flakiest of flimsy intel. And at worst got trolled massively by IT into killing one of their own titans.
Even if he was thinking of leaving, which is certainly a point up for debate, its his titan isnt it? He certainly wouldnt have been let into IT.
Is this what other members of SOT can expect if they ever decide to leave with any personal assets?
Anyway its their alliance, they can gank their own members any way they want I guess...

Killing Hurley was not a mistake, sure it's not the best of deeds but it was the only sensible thing to do. Hurley is ex-GBC, he was an FC(it seems), he was AFK and now IT is attacking your moons and you see people jumping back to IT and there's rumors of Hurley wanting to sell his titan. I would've killed it too, no reason not to.
Talking about honor and stuff is kinda useless, SoT don't seem to have much diplomatic contact with other alliance and they certainly don't attract much attention so how can this hurt their honor? They're PL's lil'brother and that alone is enough to make sure that a lot of people in Eve will not want to get on your toes too hard. So I really, really don't see how this will affect their reputation. Will this make SoT members be afraid to leave the alliance because they'll get hotdropped? No, it shouldn't. Should the members stop trusting the leadership? For being cautious and just making a bold move to make sure a titan won't end up in the wrong hands? Nope. Hurley sounds pretty clueless for a titan pilot, I'm not saying he's an incompetent titan pilot(which he probably is), but when you've done so much in Eve you'd expect him to understand better why his situation was so dubious.

Whatever anyone might say in mockery, trust is still the basis of the vast majority of cooperative gameplay in Eve. Trust is what was broken here. Honour is just trustworthiness by another name.

There's no evidence they didn't either. In fact all the logs show is PL coming in and arguing with SoT leadership, and that the SoT decision to kill the titan was based on a eve mail (which we have no idea what it said) that already declared him KoS.
I think what the chatlogs really show is that they could all profit from a competitive posting environment
