Almost no-one eats trout now. Same for Carp and certainly all the fresh water fast flow fish in the UK.

Interestingly enough neither fish does particularly well in modern high density farms, but each was a staple of the middle ages and successfully farmed then.

We need to decentralize agriculture in the UK. More allotments, more small farm and more local production

I'll leave you this to ponder,

The UK is absolutely obsessed with gardening. Everyone over the age of 50 that isn't white trash and has enough grass to swing a cat in (wear gloves) loves their garden.

Yet almost no-one grows their own veg.

    go figure.

yeah fish and mercury... I don't trust fish anymore. Fishermen in Europe always get busted fishing in front of restricted industrial zones.

If you want a list of scary food... search for import ban lists of various countries.

I'll eat fish from china as soon as they find a chinese dolphin in the Yangtze.

I've had Ethiopian food and it was pretty awesome, although they can be a bit heavy on the vinegar.

Trout is a fantastic and very underrated fish. Love it.

I would like to try that.

Also trout is one of the best fish I eat.
The best is though the Arctic Charr (Salvelinus Alpinus)

"By specific conditions, pure and steady water supply of the correct temperature range, the Icelandic Charr grows slower than Salmon and its other relatives. It develops musculature that is very firm and in general a finer flake than salmon or trout. The pink flesh has a very elegant taste and a distinct gourmet appeal. "

well the jellyfish was pretty decent. its even a bit chewy. no real distinctive taste though so don't expect a culinary delight. The lobsters, whole trout, rice cakes and assorted chinese specialities (none seemed specifically scary) were amazing.

I can defo recommend a chinese girlfriend, esp when her family has their own restaurant.
