K-6 @ 0400
Reimbursable: YES
Why: Save our shit
I wanted to post this after we found out what would happen to H74, everything went far better than expect, so this AAR will be much more smug/lighthearted than it would have been otherwise.
Yesterday we were informed that our (onlining) TCU in an un-ihubbed station system was getting hit (we had just flipped sov from FORGE to TEST). For those of you who have no clue what that means (like myself before last night's fiasco) if -A- was able to kill the TCU and anchor up their own they could have ignored station reinforce and taken a station system able to hit a large amount of Querious, Period Basis, and a little bit of Delve. We would have had to grind through RUSRUS Station timers in order to take the system back, meaning red pen cta level 6 alarm-clocking; suffice to say if we let this system go it was bad fucking news.
We took a long time to form-up as -A- had 30 tengus and 20 scimitars as well as another 40 ships worth of support, we had something like 65 drakes 12 scimis and misc support when I gave the go-ahead. We arrived in system, aligned to the TCU, and as Dingo and myself were launching probes the TCU dies. Fuck.
-A- did a very clever thing and anchored 3 TCUs on a
deathstar pos, with a shit ton of guns pointed right at the anchoring structures. We had no choice but to either drop capitals, which consisted of ~20-25 dreads and carriers with 3 supers and 1 titan, and risk our entire dread cache in order to try and save the system or go home and let them take it. After 20-30 minutes of dead silence in fleet, yelling, screaming, and head-pounding in command I made the final decision to go home. There was no silver-lining, I did say "It's NBD" (literally Makalu) and blueballed a fleet of 130 after we did an hour of absolutely nothing.
In retrospect we made the right decision. Almost noone in command wanted to go through with it, and as soon as we got into K-6 over a dozen supers showed up in H74, we would have been completely shit-stomped, down 50-100B+ isk, and nothing to show for it. Thank you all who showed up to the fleet, I'm sorry I blue-balled you as hard as I did, it was the first time I had to make this decision and it was very difficult. We did kill a sabre though, so killboards green.
Reimbursable for all Drakefleet doctrine
