Operation Evil Empire: Let's Play EVE Online

In lieu of a blog post, I'm gonna go with a forum thread for some more direct feedback.

I'm ready to start doing stuff.

There are a couple options right now that are presenting themselves, and I'd like to crowdsource them all to get people's opinions before we start driving down any particular road.

Option Alpha: Resurrect the 54th and start dicking around in Providence. I purged the corp the other day, so its all set to be reborn. I still have a couple hundred rifters and thrashers pre-staged in Nakah, but my biggest worry here is that Providence will either be too inactive or that with no dudes in off timezones, there won't be shit to do when I'm not around.

Option Zalpha: Start immediately in a new corporation and join a newb alliance for giggles. This could be fun because we'd immediately have newbies to tweak and lead to glory, but kinda means that we'd be fixed to some sort of existing entity from the get go (Probably TEST). Annoying.

Option Lana: I could try and ask IRC to let me put our corp in their alliance. IRC own, and it would be both fun and ironic.

Option Ticonderoga: Montolio said if I make an alliance RIGHT NOW, he would give it blue standings and a place in Fountain. Downside is again we are tied at the hip to TEST at least for the immediate future. Upside is that TEST are fucking awesome and my PL mains wouldn't be far off for backup purposes.

Option Rhonaldino: Grathtelkin is raping faction warfare with an alt corp of his own. We could do the same. I dunno, I've never liked FW so this might be the shittiest option.

Obviously any option that affixes us to the teat of another powerbloc is regrettable, but I kind of feel like the biggest debbie downer of any new entity is having dudes log in and having no one to play with. Since I doubt five hundred folks are gonna jump on this immediately, this means having at least some friends to start might be beneficial. Am I wrong? You tell me.

On to other stuff:

I'm terribly at naming corporations and alliance in EVE.

It took me like six hours to finally name my first character, and even then I cheated and used "Heath Ledger" because the television had just said he'd been murdered by an Olsen twin.

So, take a look at my shitty corp names and tell me which one you think is the least bad.

Damned Yankees
Indirect Fire
Outbound Rounds
Insidious Intentions
Children of Allah

I will preemptively agree that most of these names are shit. Help me out.

Services. Anyone got good ideas on setting up a forum or IRC or mumble or what? Seriously, I got nothing and this is important.

I want to start doing stuff, like time now. More so even due to the fact that my main alliance and friends are busy conquering Delve, and I eventually want us to have a piece of it and expand outwards from there.

I vote Operation Lana.

Leading IRC to glory against your former alliance (RZR) would be fun.

IRC have heart and soul and fight like dragonlions.

Just have to be willing to "talk slower" , be interrupted by "fc break" and intel about single interceptors 200km from you.

FW is something that even bittervets agree is new and refreshing. It has a super low level of entry and you can probably do whatever the flying fuck you feel like doing. Even if its not necessarily 0.0 and you won't have tons of people right off the bat, I feel this avenue does provide you a great level of flexibility and "friendly noob training" environments.

Also I'd love to say Damned Yankees but I dunno, Insidious Intentions is probably more acceptable for your average grunt.

Forums are easy to set up, along with a killboard if you need them.

All you need is a domain and someone stupid enough to manage them.

I'd be up for any of the options, some fuck-around PVP would be a welcome change to what I'm doing in EVE at the moment.

FW is a fun place for a while and there's plenty of small gang stuff but I don't think it'll last terribly long before people get bored again.

I'm giving Caldari FW a try just now. Partially to look at the new system but mostly because I'm bored. It seems pretty unorganised though. I guess if you went in and started making some noise, you could pull a lot of newbs along in your wake.

Yeah, we are. Its pretty funny since concordiat used to awox them alot. I've had several people contact my ceo saying "YOU HAVE AN AWOXER IN YOUR CORP. CHECK TEST BLACKLIST" and him replying "yeah, hes the co-ceo."

Our office is in Z3V (NPC Delve), but does not have cloning so hop next door in 1DH and store your clone if you like not getting alpha cloned.

Also, include your limited API in the application email, or I will respond saying that you are dumb and should try again. I don't really give a shit if your account has characters in other alliances, but I'd like to know if they are ones that are actively fucking with us.

By tomorrow, thrashers, rifters, blackbirds, and hurricanes will be stocked in the corp hangar.

Why is this so?

The shittiest part of the 54th when we did that was that during off hours, no one was online and nothing could be done. By attaching ourselves at the start to a rather populated alliance, we can have a wide pool of warm bodies to do things with.

Additionally, an alliance that is blue with TEST and PL means that I can use my titan and other characters to do things easily with us. I will literally be portaling thrashers errrywhere.

TASHA are complete and utter noobies. They have no idea how to do anything, and thus can be guided and molded. I think at least for starters they should be pretty entertaining and possibly useful.

Do I think TASHA is a long term solution for this project? Nope. They already have an entrenched alliance leadership, and I've already determined that I am the Space God-Emperor and thus do not want some pubbie telling me what to do. If for someone reason this does not hold true, we can act accordingly but for now take this as a temporary arrangement to allow us to better stand up ourselves into an entity.

I already have picked out our future alliance name, and it is very good. Sorry the corp name sucks, but deal wiz it.

I'll have corp emails posted soon with comms details, and future op dates and times. I expect to have our first roam either thursday or friday.

In the meantime, LOG IN TO EVE ONLINE and apply!
