A bit is not a byte? What sorcery is this?

We have fibre optics to the home here in ReykjavikTis is the best.
I have a 50mb/50mb connection with Vodafone mainly because I get very cheap TV with it.
You can get 100mb/100mb deals np. With 0 isk to home phone in 48 countries and 0 isk GSM in 10 countries.
That will cost you about 5000 isk(25 pounds). The white box you get has 2 HD TV output, 1 phone output, 3 Lan outputs.
Heard somewhere that they can pump 300mb to the system using current servers.

My 2.5Mb/0.8Mb connection will quietly skulk off into the corner.
Why does the wireless suck through brick walls. The microwaves from the government satellites get through with no problem. Thank god for my special hat.![]()
?"eve's a bad mmo, really bad, it's only saving grace is the people playing it, which i guess doesn't say great things about the people playing other MMOs"
Oh that's bullshit.

Ha, Stronke gets a lower grade than me even though his download speed is more than 5 times faster than mine.
Confirming that England is a 3rd world country connected to the internet by a damp piece of string.
So fast! :swoon:
Also I don't live around 50miles from Gloucester that is a total load of shit
FYI i'm sitting next to the router
The real question how much does 208Mb of bandwidth cost?
inb4 he's at work
Finally moved to my new flat in Shad Thames.
I am exhausted! And it is so hot here! It feels like Summer and we are the first of October today.
I checked in 6 luggages (golf bag, 3 cartons, 1 small suitcase full of books, and a bunch of coats and jackets in vacuum bags that i tied together in a cover with scotch.) Eurostar allows 6 checked-in luggages (22 EUR each) for 2 tickets (you can pick them 24 hours after check-in.) The cool thing is that they don't verify if you have more luggages when you get in the train; so my gf and i got on the train with a huge handcarry bag, laptop bag and 4 huge suitcases. That's a total of 11 luggages (around 275 kilos!)
We missed our first train (because the custom officer freaked out when he looked at the xray scan of our luggages. All clothes were vacuum compressed and there was electronic stuff in all the interstices. "Why do you have an Xbox 360, PS3, Mac Mini, Apple TV, two laptops, a PSP, a NDS? - I actually left my other PS3 in Paris." Since the customs delayed us, we were booked on the next train without penalty.
Taxis in London are much cheaper than in Paris. From St Pancras to Shad Thames (near London Bridge) it took 20 EUR to get there. From Republique to Gare du Nord (3 metro stops) we were charged 40 EUR (30 EUR + 10 EUR for the luggages.)
Changing money at the St Pancras train or Gare du Nord stations is a complete rip-off.
Paddington's chinese moneychangers have much better rates.
Regarding the meet-up. We should fix a date around the 3rd or 4th week of October. We can probably use the same venue as DC4420 (Defcon London). It has a big room downstairs. (DOWNSTAIRS!@ The Phoenix, Cavendish Square). I'll probably be at the next DC4420 meeting on the 18th of October.
Before I start a new thread about the Kugutsumen Meetup in London.
What do you guys think of 22nd of October? Starting 6PM. It is a Saturday.
Or 29th of October?
Edit: I think 29th is preferable since we will have more time to organize ourselves.
Maybe a weekend thing or something? Multiple bar trips and what else you can do in London? Would be a shame if we only got a day of action :P
I believe in Karma. If we do bad things to people it just means that they deserve it.
It may be snowing next week is the funny part.
in London??
Anything is possible in Larrdarrn Taown
29th sounds good. Some time in the afternoon.
In the past a lot of eve meets have happened at Goodmans Field, which is nice because it tends to be relatively central and mostly empty at the weekend. Plus it's a Wetherspoons so it has the benefit of being dirt cheap.

Could we do it one weekend later? the 29th is the weekend my mum is having her birthday and we will be going away from Friday.

If the last time I was out in London is any indication, by 6pm on saturday every bar is rammed and the music turned up so loud that all we'd be able to do is yell "WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY" into each others' ears until closing time. Plus for any of us thinking of travelling down from further afield, not starting until 6 makes it a whole lot less attractive.
Kick things off 2pm or so, preferably somewhere out of sight of a TV so everyone isn't swamped by football fans, and make a day of it.
Internet: I have virgin 20mb and it's fast, I actually download movies with 3mb/s and upload with up to 2mb/s. I have never heard them complain that I download a lot either. Cons: customer service, the people who install it, everyone even remotely related to the company are completely retarded. The TV is shit, actually 90% of the stuff on british TV is terrible.
Telephone: Orange/T-Mobile, not the cheapest by far but the best coverage and coverage is the most important thing to me as I travel a lot around England. When you get a contract(and you should since pay as you go will be more expensive than contracts) PM me your number so we can have phone sex. Or something. Also you need to haggle with them(I know most people hate doing it but it actually works in England), for example with my contract I got a free bluetooth, free international minutes, free phone insurance for 4months.
Also visit/google/research any company that sells you services, gives you a fine, offers you something, etc. 50% of the people in London make money by scamming the other 50%. Anything from a traffic fine to some kind of debt collection for your unpaid TV license is almost always something stupid. Once you start reading that stuff you'll save yourself a lot of trouble dealing with people and companies.
Get a car. London is a big city and as a rule the fun thing you want to do is on the other side of the town. Driving instructors cost 17-20£/hr and if you have prior driving experience 5 lessons will be enough. Car insurance is extremely expensive but there are tricks to get cheap ones. Also cars here are pretty cheap and much better than the stuff people drive in France.
Drugs are cheap and you can find them anywhere. Don't buy anything from Hackney or South London though.
Fall in London is like fall in Paris, only 5 times more rain. Winters are pretty cold.
Also what kind of job will you have here? Software security?
For me a meeting in October is a no-go since I'm going to be on the other side of the continent, hope to catch the next one.
Also most of my advice might be shit, I'm almost paranoid in this city.
Getting in late, but:
mind you this is 'fast' for toowoomba, australia.
Fucking sexy to be honest.

If the meetup is on the 29th, well then as it happens on that night I will be going to a moderately massive all-nighter which might make for an amusing aftermeetup gig. Just thought I'd throw that in there.
Additional bonus: to see how really badly I dance when I'm off my face on drink & drugs.
We really need to lock down a date. 29th seems best for almost everyone.
I have sent a booking request for Downstairs.
So it will be held the 29th?
