[Arrador] possesses a considerable understanding of ship configurations, strengths and weakness. He gives clear and purposeful instructions, is good at taking advantage of the fleet-composition he's dealt, and never loses sight of the main goal: fun. This, paired with an excellent tolerance for strong drink gives him an almost Churchillian capability to win, despite being completely pissed on booze most of the fleet operation.

I never used a joystick for the older games, always found KB + mouse easier/better. That said, if I am really enjoying MWO when it comes out, I may look at getting something good for that + flightsims (I want to get back into IL2).

I had high hopes that with putting every thing on the lowest possible setting that I would of been able to play this game. But its seems that I will be shit out of luck and need to get my self a proper machine.

Hmmm. IF I get it, think I will go the middle pack. Question them becomes: Catapult or Hunchback? If the HBK-4H is available I would probably go for that.

Any Aussies in the beta able to report on connections to the US servers?

Available Founder 'Mechs are Catapult, Hunchie, Jenner, and Atlas. Kinda disappointed, was holding out for a Stalker.

I'd go with the Munchback. If you're going to pay $60 for a C-bill factory, it might as well be munchy as shit.

Finally got into some action last night. I played for about three hours. I've only bought one mech so far, the Jenner. I got a few kills, and got killed a few times. I was single-volleyed on one match by a large mech, that was pretty hilarious. Another fun match was when I ran circles around a heavy mech and shot by shot I killed it with my little Jenner. He just couldn't lead a shot to save his life. I think he grazed me once.

I have been hanging out on the Beta TeamSpeak server. I must say it's a nerdy bunch! A lot of them are complete mechwarrior fanboys. They're talking about the table top game, model figurines, and game lore pretty often. Some pretty nerdy shit. lol

I even joined a unit already. Of course I am on a probation, but they accepted me right away so that was cool. Playing Eve for 9 years in the way that I have sure makes getting recruited in other games a lot easier. There is one super nerd in the group and everybody else seems pretty cool. I imagine I will probably stay with these dudes.

I plan to stick with the keyboard and mouse I think. I just can't imagine being as accurate with a joystick when it comes to aiming my weapons.

I am really liking the game. I decided to pull the trigger on a founders pack and chose the Catapult CTPL-C1. If you buy the 120$ founders pack(Legendary) you get all four founder's mechs.

That's perfect. I always worried about the viability of a MWMMO considering it doesn't take a lot of imagination to load up your team with machineguns or LBXAC2s and crop up cockpit kills.

Also, does anybody know if this bitch works in the UK yet? I'm dying to try it.

There's no IP blocking, if you have a beta invite you can hop on from anywhere in the world to the US server, or buy your way in sometime in August by getting a Founder's pack now.

Doesn't look like Clan stuff is on the roster immediately, which is just as well since they should get the Inner Sphere tech good and balanced before throwing it all out of whack with tube-grown supermen.

They're running it by offset; the game date at release will be somewhere in 3049, and sometime in a year or less after that it'll be 3050 and we all get invaded.

Personally I wouldn't mind keeping Clan tech out for awhile. They Clanners aren't known for their brawling 'Mechs; they pretty much form a front at 800m and pick targets apart with ERLLAS and LRMs. If I wanted to 360noscopeheadshot my enemy in 9 out of 10 situations (obviously the Clanners were eventually defeated by Comstar), I'd play EVE Online: A Game of Spacedongs.

    You can still get them.

They seem to be going off the boardgame starter pack set of 'Mechs, which means in addition to the recently added Spider and the ones we have, I expect some or all of the Banshee, Whitworth, Assassin, Vindicator, Grasshopper, Panther, Zeus, Clint, Cyclops, Quickdraw, Enforcer, and Hermes II before others.

I reject your reality and substitute a cooler one.

...now if only that worked for heatsinks. Because if I remember my 3025 boardgame days remotely correct, these things couldn't dissipate heat for shit.

    An AC-5 on a Hunchback?

    SACRILEGE.

Despite the fact they've got like seven versions of Swayback in the game.

Did you ever play Frontier Lands? Between the OTL-5M and the HBK-4P I could regularly dunk on Atlases, King Crabs and Gunslingers solo, OM NOM NOM DELICIOUS TEARS

No, but I'm not terribly surprised. Evil plotting regarding the replacement of them with pulse lasers and XL engines is now in progress.

I don't think clans work yet.

Could you explain the game's "grand scheme" layout? Is it isolated sportive battlegrounds or is it resource based sandbox with smacktalk and mecha-teabagging? Because I'm hearing all sorts of wild rumours

Can condense that question in "blob or fotm?"

Ah and of course what kind of tears are going to flow through the game

It's a very nice looking world of tanks. You drive very big stompy robots which have customizable load outs. The more you use a particular chassis the more experience you get to unlock bonuses.

The fanbase are super super serious nerds who have been waiting for years for this game and expect everyone to act like civil war reenactors. Which isn't going to happen, so they cry alot.

The beta doesn't have clans / mercenary companies yet so its really loose but you can get a good idea of the game from it.

Think that the benefits are so minimal it doesn't matter.

Thank you very much good sir. Superserious nerds open vast possibilities.

P.S. Dawn of War? I heard they made tabletop game after it.
