Atlas had a chance to become a super power independent of -A- but no one bother to put the time and effort. They had CoW, GC, Primary., their renters and Atlas renters but Atlas didn't do anything to foster a good relationship. All of the major battles should be happening in SP not in Atlas backyards.

Most of all of this wouldn't have happened had you not left your pets in Scalding Pass to die after Primary. decided to pack up and leave. Remember, HTA, under their arrangement with Primary., was supposed to get 1V, 4-C, and the surrounding systems. GC whined to Atlas and Atlas said no. As a result, there was some infighting over the apparent loss of the money paid for that pocket of space, because Atlas (through/because of GC) didn't approve of the deal, eventually leading to the takeover and temporary disbanding of it (before it permanently disbanded a week later).
So, now, rather than have a long-term, loyal, friendly renter, who sucky or not, regularly fielded 200+ ships for you guys in home defense fleets (even if they lost 190 out of 200) in that space, instead you have PL occupying 1V and 4-C (not to mention Cursed Alliance holding virtually everything else of value in the region) And using it as a base to attack the rest of your space.
All I'm saying is had you handled the situations in Scalding Pass and Insmother better, you wouldn't be fighting in Detorid right now.
I agree with your second point, but not with your first point, I think Atlas was very close with CoW and GC. On the other hand, Primary. didn't seem exactly well-liked by them to say the least.

Geezus you're awfully serious. If by "better" you mean willing to be more devoted to this computer game than I'm prepared to be, sure, I'll go along with that. I can't devote the kind of time to this game that it takes to hold Sov. Woudn't want to devote that kind of time, even if I could. Being forced by the mechanics of a game to get my ass out of bed at 3 AM for days on end is not my idea of a good time at my age. The folks in alliances like Atlas can, and want to, so they do. Still, when I do log in, I want to do all of the cool stuff, some of which can only be done in 0.0. I pay the landlord for their willingness and ability to play the sov game, so that I don't have to.
As long as expectations are realistic, my alliance advances, their alliance gets some cash, and both of us can play the part of the game we want to play. Nothing wrong with that.
Currently about 20 Init are doing more to defend U-W than all of Atlas has done so far.

When we first came down to join Cursed in their fight, right at the beginning of all this and back when Atlas was this over-rated, apparently supercap-heavy power behind a palisade of pets and renters, it was always useful to convo pets that were under pressure and give them a link to Aurora saying how he hoped we'd break them, so that they could be assimilated into their official renter alliance. That was a gift because, like all the best propaganda, it so obviously fitted the facts.

I had a feeling Atlas was pressuring their remaining renters to join Green Alliance. A bad system, IMO, I don't see how it's terribly hard to just deal renting space to another alliance. It usually means alot to an alliance to have their own sov claims and stations and all. Forming a corp and joining the same alliance as everyone else really strips people of any collective identity.
If it's an issue of defending said space, Atlas could do that just as well either way. Of course, this implies Atlas defends its renters, which we all know and see is false.
Fintroll is running all the alliances atm, he is the campaign leader.
Having pets in an alliance you control means that when they inevitably cascade under slight pressure you at least control the jammer and sov, so you don't get HTA/Primary style issues with your hostiles suddenly gaining free stations
I asked people to hammer on it incessantly. If you take something that blames someone else for a person's ills then keep telling it to them sympathetically then it's really not a tough sell.

Like quite a few people, we had access to Atlas's vast spreadsheets full of renter and pet allocations, rent status, queries, quibbles and complaints. It had, like, 20 sheets of data in one document. Frankly, I'd have grown to detest running it all, too, if I had to plough through that every week It was dead handy in speaking to them, though; "you pay them [insert exact amount here] for those two lousy systems and the only way they can repay you is conspiring with us to see you broken so they can steal your members? Shit, after the work you did building your corp up that must suck. And they won't even let you put a shitty refining array up so they can gouge you more? Shit, man, that's not right. Look, if you need to get your shit out before they boot you or steal your members or something then you just need to talk to me." Except a bit slower.
