CCP doesn't want you to crash the server? Frankly I am shocked and appalled.
This is not the sandbox we are looking for?
There you have it guys, your best argument for dissolving the NC.Originally Posted by CCP Navigatwhore

Get a brain.
He just suggested having a fleet fight in high sec, not crashing the server
FFS we must be allowed to have fleet fights in high sec?
I think we need to do it now just to see if they ban us all. They couldn't
Dear CCP,
I would like to ask that you perma ban all [insert blobbers name here] for purposely bringing twice our numbers and causing the node to crash, on purpose, causing excess stress on your servers and eliminating our enjoyment of your game.
Signed,
The blobbed
In other news, big fleet fights are now against the TOS.
on a serious note if you could get 200 people together and all suicide gank something on the 4-4 station at once the amount of npcs that spawned at once could probably crash the nod
I really wish this were true, but his statement (and intent) was to crash the server(s) - which falls under this. By saying that, he made the ban hammer a possibility if anyone were to run with this idea. As for the rest of this crap, I can interpret the TOS too, if you'd like, and you all need to be banned and give me your stuff.
TOS are written in a vague way to protect the owner, and this is a case where expressing too much detail in a public forum made this idea a bannable offense. It was fine here, in Kugu, or in SHC, where we aren't tied to our EVE toons...
Clearly this means CCP has also broken their own TOS.
Its quite simple. Someone sets up a suicide gank or fight in Jita.
SUICIDE GANK or FIGHT
Nothing about lag being the end purpose.
Lag will undoubtedly happen, but as long as that wasn't the "goal"... CCP can't do shit.
“Isn't it funny how the mood can be ruined so quickly by just one busted condom”
I hereby claim Jita 4-4 station mine, come try to take it.
Poasting really cool psyduck shit! this should be implemented on site!!! ^__^

I think crashing the node is for the enjoyment of all users. The bitterness level is to the point where the userbase would enjoy it.
Is there a man or a woman alive, robot poster, or otherwise who has faith in CCP?
Anyone else getting an SOE vibe from CCP these days?
or you know you could just unsub
canceled my alt accounts. I basically am keeping dast for social networking
The issue remains, that as long as you have folks like SerLordex or even average mid-40 with a job who's got no time to carebear ISK up and rather sells a few GTC's, there are more subscriptions per month paid for than actually are active. Especially when you paid your account via ISK before and decide to unsub, it doesn't matter to CCP at all. Someone bought a gtc or two to cover your subscription anyway.
The facts have a strong anti-A- bias.
I activate my accounts once a year or something for a month (max), basically whenever there is fish in a barrel to shoot up north. This is also the reason why probably every 2007 character has more skillpoints than my 2003s.![]()
Well, CCP isn't entirely the profit mongering monster people make it out to be: That's WoW where you pay for expansions and the game gets progressively easier over time. Profit mongering is also about dumming down and pulling in casuals because the casual audience is massively larger.
Even a 'casual' Eve player is considered hardcore by industry definitions: any game in which you suffer heavy penalties (loss for dying, not updating clone, etc..) for making mistakes playing it is considered hardcore. Games that focus on 'rewards' and not 'punishments' are apart of casual game definition, as I had heard it at a CGA conference once (Casual Games Association). High sec ganking, while very impropable in the life of a casual high sec gamer, the very possibility of unavoidable griefing makes the game hardcore.
I think on some level CCP runs like a business, but on another level they have a huge idealistic streak. They want to stay hardcore and they want to stay sandbox, which are counter productive to profit driven goals: a (well) controlled game will always show more subscriptions than a sandbox. It is still a game of consequence and they want to build the game in non-linear directions while still being a space game.
I would not be surprised if the business moguls at CCP frequently clash with the idealistic components of the company. My trolls about CCP is that they cannot really get good people. They *have* good people -- which explains their existence -- just not *enough* good people to sustain the current size of Eve and appear competant. Hence, the suck. They talk about how they are this great place to work for, but all companies pull that rhetoric.
The one global talent pool they have access to, the dual programmer & Eve gamer, isn't moving to Iceland in droves. I can't say what everyone else's reason is, but even from a player point of view I feel they have a dictator company culture, simply because I don't see them have good processes in building their game, so why would they have good processes in running their company? When there are no processes, things are often dealt with arbitrarily, usually from a position of power. Hence, the dictator company culture PoV.
edit: This could be the furthest from the truth, maybe they have lots of processes I don't see, but at the end of the day they don't have the ones I need to see. Its all just the perception.
CCP is a company. Make no mistake, they are here for one reason and one reason only, and that is the bottom line. It's the same with Blizzard, SoE, EA and all the others. Some companies do preffer quality over crap, such as Blizzard. Look at SC, SC2, WoW. Atleast they try, CCP doesn't care, and the proof is in their blogs.
WoT is the new Eve. Soon all Eve forums shall serve the panzer god.
Seriously, ive had so much more consistant fun with tanks than i have ever had with spaceships. Maybe im just burnt out and tanks is a new fangled idea but i don't see myself going back now. I really believe that if the whole territory warfare works as they claim it will Eve will have a very strong competitor once its released. WoT could literally not have come at a worse time for CCP.
Meanwhile, in a different forum section...

Sell me on WoT
I know 0 about it atm
Okay.
You are a tank, driving around aiming your gun, actively shooting other tanks
you buy better guns, better armor, better engines, whatever and strap them on your tank. Sometimes you even buy a better tank.
You basically get into fights w/ other tanks whenever you click "join battle" and fight until you conquer or die, then get another tank and get into another fight three seconds later, and you can basically do nothing but fight 24/7
The devs are going to put in clan wars with battles over territory against other dudes w/ tanks so like EVE w/ tanks w/o POSes or SBUs or Ihubs or station timers or repping structures
In there teaser trailers they made fun of both World of Warcraft and EvE Online. ++ for that, but how to you aquire money for new toys and is there a Ibis version of tank (so you can always do something).
arena warfare for territory = no
Why whats wrong with last man standing? Makes most sence.
i signed up for the beta but they don't seem interested in letting me in.

If you like medium tanks, go with the Rompin' Stompin' Red Army
Btw someone ever thought about that CCP could have run out of money and now needs to release some stuff to keep even the server running?
Why yes, you are right that does make "sence".
Everyone here knows the story, after all, of the battle of Prokhorovka, which occured on 12th July 1943 at the height of Hitler's Kursk offensive. A gigantic meeting engagement, it involved large elements of the German Fourth Panzer Army and the Soviet Fifth Guards Tank Army.
Perhaps the largest tank battle in history, both sides kept pouring more and more forces into a battle that each side knew that they had to win. After hours of fighting, the battle was won by the Soviet forces when the last man on the battlefield was Corporal Vassily "D3m0n5p4wnz0r" Tukhachevsky, driving an upgraded T34-85.
Questioned while doing doughnuts around the shattered remains of a Tiger II that he had "totally pwned", Tukhachevsky issued a historic statement, saying "lololol teh nazis r so full of failsauce. QQ more, 'Panzer' Meyer".
