Well, I guess my earlier estimates of starting to bleed southern querious outposts by now is starting to look silly now considering SoCo's anemic performance since the big 49- ALL HANDS ALARM CLOCK let down.

I actually had to downgrade to drakes last night to not overblob the SoCo Oracle/Geddon gang completely - thou as they got more and more bombers it was looking rather grim for the drake fleet going in. The Tengu fleets are still also stuck in the past performance expectations and whoever their FC was last night actually started shooting aligned hurricanes instead of a full rokh fleet with all huginns still alive. I kited the canes behind the Rokhs, and with Tengus following... blapblapblap went the Rokh fleet.

SoCo had their own bomber fleet + mercenaries bomber group active, but the merc bomber group decided it was a great idea to bomb my gang of 40 instacanes. 1 Bomb hit. The SoCo bomber group did well scoring some good runs killing maybe ~8 BS since our defensive bubblers seemed to be asleep last night.

All and all -- great fun, thou little weirded out about SoCo topping it out around ~150 throughout the night on a Saturday of all days when euros/russians can join the Sov Push.

Thoughts on the Conflict from a Publord Scrubbie PL Rank and File.

Basically as I see it there are several key factors between HBC and SoCo fleets that pound for pound are costing them fights.

A) SRP and Fleet Doctrine

Back when I lived up north under the glorius wing of WIDOT, I remember how the NC use to operate. Basically they would call for a fleet type (i.e. Drakes, Close Range BS, Sniper HAC's) and you would get 200 dudes or so at the drop of a hat (15-20 minutes form up times were common, but for a larger fleet, it could take 1 hour or so). The main problem with these fleets was firstly you had 100 dudes, and 100 different fits. A Close Range BS can be defined a hundred ways, so you would see mega's, geddons, rokh's, and even occasionally a random raven or apoc mixed in. This fleet usually operated with armor tanks, or no logi support and really wasn't designed to go toe to toe with the fleet concepts of the time that were fielded against it. Hellcats, Armor HACs, and Snipers would eat them for breakfast and go back for more while taking minimal losses (if any). Drake fleets were a bit better, but then you had the issue where we had 50 different types of scimi's/bassys, and god forbid you get a working cap chain for your guardians bassy's in a fleet.

-A-'s US TZ leaders are made up heavily of former NC leadership, including some of the most prominent names in its downfall, as such their new-found home has similarities in how they operate.... a thousand different fits for one fleet type. I mean in the fleet yesterday, it was hard to take any two ships off the killboard and see the same fit between them. This same issue is not as prevelent in HBC fleets, seeing as their SRP programs require a certain type of fit for each ship, which encourages people to focus on getting that ship ready, and fly based on what the fleets flying. This gives a great versatile tool to the FC who can easily manipulate range, change targets, and know how fast his fleet can move around a system/constellation.

B) Fleet Command

-A-'s fleet command is arrogant, brash, angry, and unforgiving to its member base.... while I can't speak to this fully, it's the general feeling I got listening to the comms, and from my experience in fleet with many of their FC's back in the day. Back in the day many of their FC's felt that they were somehow better then their opposition as pilots and had a "we are leet" personality that is not really that prevalent HBC (even within PL.... there are some fucking awful PL pilots *Cough* Bluemajere *Cough*) Generally speaking theres a much more "Lets have fun and roll with what happens amongst HBC folks, even when were losing.

Channel command is somewhere that HBC has the -A- forces Beat.... you can see it when you watch the interaction between the fleets in a fight. Last night alone, the Instacanes were effectively targeting bombers while the rokh's shielded them with either firewalls or alpha damage onto enemy logi. This coupled with a general chill factor between the average FC in the HBC (hell someone accidentally muted Sort Dragon DURING the Rokhfight last night) makes for an excellent environment to foster and build coalition military structure for the average pilot.

C) Views of self

-A- and co seem to view themselves as a traditional "leet-pvp" play organization. Regardless of whether they have held their space for god knows how long, and have rarely moved a fleet larger then 150 dudes anywhere 20 jumps away from stain. Their roaming and small gang pvp is good, I enjoyed that aspect of fighting them while in waffles several times, and it was always nailbiting. This gives me the opinion that the average -A- pilot is not in fact SHIT(god forbid) but that the failings of their fleet fall more to leadership and back end programs, as well as lack of a fleet composition. This has translated the leaderships goals to motivating the players into making "Green Killboards" where they get as many kills as possible, by free-firing and running away from enemy fleets, and trying to pick them off from afar.

HBC on the other hand has many peoples who have quite happily in the past brawled in dozens of regions, fought many different enemies (even each other) and have experiance using dozens of fleet types, getting in close and deciding the fight. Its very much a EAST vs WEST mentality of the current times... hit and run vs pitched battle. However lately, with the green killboard mentality, they have been forging closer, and trying to get good outcomes to their fights. They are just not nearly as experienced in large sov warfare. The lack of combined arms approaches, and varied fleet comps shows. -A- does well in tengu's when they need to run away... but their fleets diaf if they use anything that can be tied down for more then two seconds.

Maka tends to FC about 80% of the fleets, otherwise the most common voices you'd hear is PK, Cobra2k and James Kordent. With TraderJohn and LeeChanka recently taking out support fleets of bombers and tornados. Then theres Mukk that does the odd oracle fleet and even Archie of fail recently has been leading or supporting fleets. As a result your suggestion that -A- leadership is mostly ex-NC makes no sense to me, the above is simply the current most active FC's whereas the leadership itself tends to be majority vet russians.

As for thousands of different fits... again I dont understand where you're getting that from. -A- typically is pretty tight when it comes to fittings, people get trolled on the killboards when they do not have the correct fit and if the fit is bad enough it will not be eligable for reimbursement. Although I do admit, much of the reimbursement and fit control is done on a corp by corp basis. Some tend to be more loose than others.

There's also been alot of changes to official fits lately so that may explain some lack of uniformity lately on the killboards.

Again -A- has fought pretty much every major entity in the game at some point. As for varied fleet comps, currently every member is expected to have a hellcat, tengu, loki, muninn, rokh, mael, gankpest, oracle, naga and nado. Each for a different fleet composition, though some get merged together when in a hurry such as the oracle/hellcat fleet last night.




Someone mentioned tengus with 2 EM hardeners, our current fit only has 1 EM with 2 invuls. What you're seeing is probably some old fits that people havn't gotten around to changing or are simply lazy bastards.

Lots of truth here regarding -A-. I think what also gets left out is that -A- really has no useful allies.

One of the things that I think has made goons so successful is that they helped shit alliances in Dekco actually improve themselves. FCON, FA, LAWN etc aren't exactly PVP heavyweights but they are competent and can actually take care of their own fleets and logistics. Back before the NC died, all these alliances really did is contribute man power to incompetent NC fleets.

IMO -a- is in a similar situation. Their allies like En Garde/ROL/FAIL take absolutely no initiative to do anything. They just X up and join poorly led -A- welp fleets. Its sort of funny that the only competent ally -A- had was Nulli and they just watched them die.

In any given situation, -A- will usually fail in every possible way and even surprise you and fail in some ways you would not have expected.

I really wish I could have joined some of these -A- bashing fleets. Thanks for kicking me test o7
