Regardless of Political Ties, I'd rather have the silver tongue of Obama than the outright embarrassment of Bush.

However, I will give Bush massive credit for being very down to earth when it came to comedy/jokes being directed at him. According to most comedians he laughed at the jokes and was largely okay with doing special bits with late night hosts like Jay Leno, similar to Obama's latest "Slow Jam the News, with Jimmy Fallon".

Evidently Obama is also now the most televised POTUS in history, true/false?

Back to 2012 Republicans, have we heard anything more of possible VP choices?

How is this real dumb? Sure, you can dislike Bush's policy or personality. But, if you think that Bush wasn't way more genuine that Obama then you're dumber than I am.

EDIT: Oh wait, I see what you did there. My bad.

dont know about that, but he has already hosted more fund raisers than the last five presidents combined.

Obama had held 104 fundraisers by March 6th this year, compared to 94 held by Presidents Carter, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Snr, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush combined.

No news on the veep front except to say there seem to be a couple of high profile and popular people applying for the job. Both Haley and Rubio have denied it in the past but both have tried to increase their face time and profiles recently and Rubio is being more circumspect about saying no thanks now.

As far as the Obama/Bush smart/dumb shit, who cares? Being super intelligent doesn't make you a good leader and being average doesn't make you a drooling retard. There are many qualities which make one a good leader and intelligence is only one.

Besides, Obama's silver tongue is overrated. Reagan and Clinton were teh awesome at speaking. Both were comfortable in that sort of situation and I don't think either O or B are even close to being as talented as those two.

To try to bring this a a bit back on topic.

Big boy Newt finally dropped out and Romney maybe helping him pay his campaign debt. Also rumor has it that Condoleezza Rice might have a good chance of being picked for VP(though haven't really heard her opinion on it), which is odd because I completely forgot about her tbh. Wouldn't be a bad pick, at least in comparison to Jeb, Santorum, or Christie.

    Edit:

His openly gay spokesperson didn't seem to last very long, he resigned after only 2 weeks.

she's a total butterface if you ask me.

BTW, who cares if this thread stays on topic, the GOP primaries are finished. Well, unless you're Ron Paul, because you're old, senile, and your entire family is encouraging you to stay in the race so that they can continue to get paid with campaign contributions for the "work" they are doing.

Maybe Rand Paul will talk some sense into him.

I know I don't usually call you out on being delusional but I'm not sure I can let that one go by unchallenged...

A more probable reason for Condi not getting involved is because she'd be a reminder of the Bush years. Not for the reasons outlined in the "Bush is a war criminal" thread though. No. Because it would Obama go around smugging it up because he's the one that finally got Bin Laden and Bush didn't.

All this is true. She;'s also be a problem with the base. She's pro choice and didn't think we should do anything about immigration on the scale that was being discussed. Those would be huge negatives for her running.

I'm actually hoping he runs as an independent, he could shuffle enough votes off both sides to make it a mildly interesting election, that in my mind otherwise is likely to be a fairly lopsided Obama victory.

I think it's going to be a nail biter Romney isn't terribly good at motivating the base but Obama has a raft of problems on his plate, some of which shouldn't be blamed on the president and others of his own making. Neither one of them look good going into the election. Obama has the added problem of two very important USSC votes that could really sink his boat.

Still there's a lot of time left and either of them can have a big fuck up and throw the election.

The votes he would get from the left would be very little. If he did run third party it would almost certainly result in Obama being re-elected. I would go insane.

If Ron Paul wants to re-elect Obama, then he should run too. Simple as that.

Ron Paul running as an independant had great success in the past.

If the US and A did elect Paul though, it would be the first time for a god damned long time that you have voted in someone really good, in the most balanced way there is.

I'm voting for Ron Paul this time, hopefully not as a write-in, but I live in CT so my vote doesn't matter at all. We're as blue as we are pale and white.

Perot twice, Nader twice, and I honestly forget who I voted for last year. I pretty much just always vote for the most viable 3rd party candidate.

This weekend I got in an argument with some drunkbro over who would lose more votes to Ron Paul. He seemed to think Obama would lose liberal voters to a guy who would let states reenact Jim Crow and lower the minimum wage to nothing. Yeah, I can totally see how you might get Obama and Paul confused.

According to the 2008 election about 52.9% of the popular vote.

Why does defense spending make republicans touch themselves with more enthusiasim than a boy hitting puberty?

    Their budget:
Adds missile defense sites on the East Coast that the military opposes
Restricts the ability of the president to reduce the arsenal of nuclear weapons
Preserves ships and aircraft that the Pentagon wanted to retire
Rejects the military's request for another round of domestic base closings

Repubs, put some clothes on, your military-industrial complex is showing.
I've noticed that there's a pretty big disconnect between the general consensus of kugu and what's actually happening. It seems enough people have said it in this thread that people are taking it as fact.

It amuses me how nobody wants to be Romney's VP, because it suggests they have little confidence. And when you look at what happens to former VP candidates that didn't make it, I don't much blame them.

While criticizing about the deficient, they then want to add 8b on to military spending.

Well, military spending is an enumerated power of the federal government. Education, agriculture, natural resources, energy, art.....these things are not.

If you spend enough on military, you don't need as much for education~

As for the Jim Crow thing: http://www.politico.com/blogs/politico-live/2012/01/ron-paul-clarifies-jim-crow-stance-109233.html

Paul isn't completely incorrect that the government has caused some race problems in their "fix" of race problems. I don't support Jim Crow laws but I agree that the government set up discriminatory policies that are troubling, even if they were enacted with good intentions.

And that makes it okay for them to increase the budget on stupid shit that the goddamn military itself says it doesn't want?

Yes because if there is one source of information you should go to about Jim Crow laws is an aging puritan gasbag who meets with white supremacists, publishes newsletters about a coming race war, and wants to take us back to the days where states could have slaves.

edit: and until people stop using words like "sand nigger" "nigger" "spook" (I heard this recently, wtf), etc - there will be laws needed to protect them from assholes in general, no matter how unfair you think it is. Don't like it? Promote non-discrimination. The only people complaining are white men who lost their edge of control and now feel like things are unfair because we can't beat our employees to work for free.

Sure sure, any day now you'll open up a Cable station called WET and it will profile while things like BET does, only you WON'T get sued.

Until a black man doesn't utter the word nigger in a rap, or on my street (southbmore what up), until there is no such thing as the NAACP, BET, or any other 'minority' support groups, I will have no sympathy on anybody offended by racism.

You live in the environment you create, and blacks aren't really a minority in most places anymore.

Seems these days that black folk need more protection from themselves compared to the ills that the rest of society has coming their way.

Hey, who's going to start the Obama vs Romney thread. The campaign is underway!

    1....2....3....not it.

There are now as many "coloured" children born in the US as white ones!

    Wait what?

PS the NAACP and BET aren't support groups. One is a civil rights organization, the other is MTV in blackface.
