    Default The Game Sales Thread!

Surprised no one thought of this earlier (or maybe they did and I just didn't see it). Given we have a dedicated "Other Games" section, I figured we should also have a dedicated game sales thread! Simple enough really, if you find a sale you feel like sharing with your fellow Kugu bros, link it here!

To start off http://www.greenmangaming.com/ is currently offering 25% off for ANY game they have available. Simply use the voucher code 25OFF-ALLTH-EGAME when you get to your shopping cart. I wish I'd thought of this thread sooner as the sale ends in 5 and a half hours but it still might help out some guys!

Notable games to consider are pre-ordering Guild Wars 2 for $45, Darksiders II for $37, or Battlefield 3 Premium (yea, the premium version!) for $37.50. Obviously as time goes on posts will become out of date, so this is probably gonna be one of those threads where its just best to scroll on near the bottom or go directly to the most recent post. Hopefully multiple people will contribute to the thread and everyone will save some cash as a result of this.

The upcoming Steam Summer Sale has apparently been leaked (including some of the packs and a bit of price details):

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...le-list-leaked

I have fucking 300-odd games on Steam already, and I fear I'll have like 400 or so by the time this is over (apparently starts Friday). I'll probably never play most of them... but they're there. On the list.

    Steam site finally loads up.

Just so you know F:NV Ultimate is on sale as a stand alone for $23.99(usually 39.99). Looks like most games are on sale to some degree, but bundles are usually better bang for your buck. I still don't know which one to get debating on 2k bundle mainly because of Civ5 and Borderlands(which I never got).

Yeah, most of the games in the bundles seem to be on sale seperately - £17.99 (I guess "import duty" is to blame for the disparity in pricing, when the £:$ is 1:1.55 ) for F:NV Deluxe edition.

Bundles are looking pretty good - will probably swing for the THQ collection (mainly for Saints Row and Space Marine)

    All in all, good sale

This would be a great idea, actually. I've got a few games on Steam, and I regularly fuck my computer up. That queue would come in handy!

Well it can hardly be hilarious if you don't!

Arma II was on sale a few days ago, but being Australian, can you tell the difference between exorbitant software prices and exorbitant software prices when on sale?

I like American dad and don't find family guy funny at all.

Arma 2 combined ops is 30$ or 24 at the moment on sale. +A grade new games cost about 80$ on steam or 90/100 in the shops - which is shit. Lesser games might start at about 50$ on steam.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Software pricing is a total headfuck when you compare the US to the rest of the world - time was, when the pound was stronger, people would book transatlantic flights to New York primarily to buy copies of the new Photoshop and other premium software lines for their company

Tell him to bust some heads to get people working on HL3. Though their system is quite strange from business standpoint.

I really enjoyed the walking dead game. There were a couple of bits where I wasn't sure what to do but for the most part it was great and so was the storyline.

For whatever reason, the various package deals often have an image from just one title in the pack (instead of indicating that it's a collection). For example, the Men of War: Vietnam image actually links to the Men of War Collector Pack which includes the original, Assault Squad + DLC, Condemned Heroes, Red Tide, and Vietnam, all for $12.49 (dunno about other territories). As a fan of tactics-centric RTS games, I think Assault Squad is worth the price on its own. Jim Rossignol of Rock, Paper Shotgun thoroughly dissected it and came away quite impressed, especially with co-op. If you're unsure, there's a demo on Steam.

There's always great stuff during these sales that won't get a star treatment on the front page. The Top under $10 and Top under $5 tabs are stuffed with worthwhile games. Metro 2033 is totally worth $5, and Europa Universalis III Complete is fucking $3.74, or you can get that plus Heir to the Throne and Divine Wind for $7.49. In terms of sheer content that is probably one of the best deals that's even been on Steam. Hard Reset wasn't revolutionary but it's a shooty romp worth $3.75 (and recently got a free bit of expansion).

Clearly we need to help Gabe get over $2,000,000,000.

Never bought anything on steam, I saw GTA IV for 7 EUR and thought it was a good deal. I bought it and felt as if I saved some money, then I saw that you can get every GTA game for 9 EUR .. now i feel as if i lost some money.

Edit: What does it mean if steam says that he can not connect to Key server? Should i just wait?

Just try to open it again when that happens, they just have a LOT of traffic right now with the sales.

Also if you put a ticket in they'll probably refund you and let you buy that GTA package, they're pretty good about that shit man.

Tanks mate, i made a ticket. There is just one problem:
"DAILY DEAL! Offer ends in 12:48:36"
What if they take GTA IV back, but i cant buy the pack because the deal is over?
Maybe i should just buy the pack with all GTA games now and hope that they reimburse me for GTA IV :S

    also:
Notice: We are currently out of CD Keys for GTA IV and have contacted the publisher for more. Once CD Keys have been replenished, all purchasers will automatically receive a CD Key.

Hrm, well you can gamble here. If they don't get back to you, you could try buying the package, but then you might end up with an extra GTA copy (though if you haven't installed this you could technically put it in your inventory to give to someone else as a gift), or Steam will honor the refund.

Alternatively, you could *not* buy the pack, and hope that Steam would retroactively honor the deal and let you purchase it. Obviously the risk here being they might not let you do that. At the same time GTA might go on sale again at the end of the Summer Sale, as Steam is known for having a "HERE'S ALL THE PAST DEALS GUYS GO FOR IT" kinda thing.

Also, if someone else could verify for me, I'm pretty sure Steam also keeps yesterday's deals available for an extra day. So technically you could give Steam a full 24 hours to reply to you and still have access to the pack (again this is pending someone else to verify because I'm at work and can't check).

sweet jesus, i already got an answer from the steam support. Probably because it's an "billing" issue.
Looks like i can get my money back \o/ (They will put it on my steam account)

1000x Thanks for your help Rer.

Wow, gotta admit that's way faster than I figured they'd respond. Maybe they hired some temps to help during sale season, who knows. Either way glad to hear it'll work out for ya

I just picked up the GTA series, is it worth starting at III so I can be familiar with the story line or should I start with a more recent game?

There's a storyline in GTA? Granted its been awhile since I've played the series, but usually each game has its own storyline.

Editead Space 2 is on flash sale for the next 5 hours for $5. Talk about a steal and the game is awesome(imo).

There are one or two inside jokes you will not get, but else you can start where ever you want.
I dont like III that much.
I suggest starting with vice city, if you like Scarface and other Al Pacino movies you gonna love it. It has a very nice ambience.
If you are more the gansta rap kind of guy from the hood, San Andreas is good. Too bad it has "The Sims" stuff in it, you habe to train you muscles and other silly stuff.
GTA IV is shiny, but again with "take your girldfriend out to dinner" parts

TL;DR: they all are good in their own way.

Speaking of which, the STALKER Bundle is $11.19, and that's worth it for Pripyat alone (play it with Paul Doglov's Complete Mod, which works with the Steam version).

So out of curiosity what has everyone gotten so far.. Fucking impulse is killing me here.

    So far I've gotten:

    2k Bundle
    -Bioshock 2
    -Borderlands
    -Darkness 2(actually kind of like)
    -Duke Nukem Forever
    -Civ5(been playing the most)
    -Mafia2
-Spec Ops:The Line(doesn't run very good)

    Fallout 3 GOTY Edition
    L.A. Noire(impulse)
    SimCity 4
Sins of a Solar Empire:Trinity(Don't know why)
    Train Simulator(Trains fuck yeah)

    Total: ~$86

Will probably chill out, unless something really good hits the flash sales.
