The Long Bomber Grind: or how I shat away 200 bombs in an hour
Waflle formed up at about 1530, and were formed with about a dozen bombers by 1600, at this time Nulli had formed was was on the move.... in a lightning strike, and a bid to replicate a similar strike against Red Alliance, waffles bridged into Nulli's system and tried to bomb them on their titan.... unfortunately due to a bizarre situation we landed on top of the nulli fleet and not on them... scattering us to the four winds and losing a handful of bombers.

But as with our masters blessing of NO NOT BELIEVING we reshipping and set out again, this time into AJI, the system of choice for full scale warfare today. with our band of brothers we set up on a perch overlooking the now fully engaged nulli Alpha Fleet and PL slowcat fleet + dread attachment.
I would estimate that nulli had about 130ish due to our bomb run from earlier and PL had maybe 40ish carriers plus 4 dreads and assorted TEST/PL tackle. local hung about 230 most of the fight, though on field at any given time it was probably no more then 200 (Including bombers). by the time we arrived on field almost all of the tackle on both PL and Nulli side had been stripped away, making for ideal bomb run conditions. However, at the same time we were attempting a new tactic using mixed Void/Normal bomb types, trying to gauge maximum effect against any fleet we bombed. Unfortunately this would end up with mixed results, trending towards making such a small number of bombers completely ineffectual...
The fight grew into a slow meatgrinder, and we fired off about 200 bombs, losing most of our bombers at least once during the fight.... by the end, we had only a handful of bombers, and from our perspective it looked like PL was breaking, due to the fact they had lost most of their sentries to bombs from Nulli (Excellent runs I must add).... their carriers began bugging out leaving a handful of dreads (who had drifted away from the main slowcat blob at least in my game). We made two more bomb runs exhausting the remainder of our bombs, and suddenly at this point a PL cyno was lit and a handful of supers as well as the carriers returned to the field.
The next part of the battle I cannot speak for as I died and had to vanish back to my job... however our bombers broke and went home without bombs, and ended up dicking around in our home system.

We learned that the fight had settled down Nulli was leaving the field back home... when hero waffle who shall not be named was called upon to perform a vital task for the legion.... in this task he brought the entire legion available at the time around in front of Nulli's retreating Battleships. Our hero jumped to the rescue, and in less then a minute the PL fleet was in front of the nulli gang... who blundered into the trap(Someone confirm this, could have also just been an "awesome they still wanna fight" moment). Unlike the battle in AJI, in which the nulli and PL fleets had kept at arms length, and drawn the battle out for a grueling 120 minutes, the battle in YZ9 lasted no more then 10 minutes... in which twice as many ships were destroyed, PL fielded a powerful Rokh fleet against a similarly sized Maelstrom gang... PL was also supported by dreads and a handful of supercarriers, which helped lead to the quite dispatch of the Nulli fleet.
This fight was short brutal and while PL definately won this fight hands down, nulli made a good showing, as many of the PL rokhs I saw on the way back were well into structure. Waffles managed to catch a wayward Claymore on the other side, but Nulli showed good fleet discipline and he was the only one punished for not listening to orders.... so good own you.

Actually between the Capitals and the Battleships, it was a long grind in AJI because of the Range.... the sub-cap fleet had an entire POS to work around, and being much more moble, could pull range on the Slowcats, making it extremely hard to shoot them. But on the other side of the same coin, keeping that range basically made it so that the Capitals were immune to any fire from the Maelstroms. 50 Capitals vs 150 Maelstroms is quite an even fight regardless of what anyone will tell you. It can be quite devastating to a capital, ive been on a Alpha fleet and been against one in a capital, and the amount of damage a group of 100 dishes out is immense, heres a link to a good Battle report from the early days of Goon use of the fleet.

Basically what happened is, Vee the FC at the time for Euro Timezone, lost a good chunk of his fleet when the titans and Supers showed up... we were left with +/- 150 dudes in system, and about 30 maelstroms. At first we started to hit and run the IT fleet, who were reinforcing PNQY after we had taken it the night before. We caught most of their fleet at opitmal at one point, and before the coalition supers could hit field, we had more or less removed the entire subcap fleet from the game.... they all scattered to the four winds and we hit one of our safe towers in system (each alliance had their own). Vee gathers the fleet... and right out from IT's nose, we snipe two of their repping carriers... I died to a doomsday... and at one point we had an erebus into low armor. All of this was against a supposedly "unstoppable super fleet" who outnumbered our supers in EU TZ at the time 2 to 1.
Capitals unsupported is a dangerous move, however slowcats are a potent force, and in this case they had an excellent rep chain going. Now then, the fights climax really never happened, but PL did lose a dreadnought when they jumped out to get better positioning. Since it felt more like an extension of the first fight, I would say that YZ-9 was more tenacious and literally bored PL outta slowcats... PL goes home, reships and drops on top of the retreating nulli gang, like times of old... and violently murder them... that said, their FC kept calm, called primaries, and given the situation took a fair number of Rokh's with them.
So then, PL "won" the Gudfites in the end... but it was hard fought and good FC work from Nulli, now then if you can stop sperging about capitals for one second and sit down and look at the mechanics and the and situation instead of just the battle report you may actually one day learn to be a decent pilot in this game and not appear to just be a sperging idiot.
