Javelins are bad as they deal a static 35 damage regardless of where you hit a tank. That basicly means a normal RPG can do significantly more damage if it can hit targets from behind, so unless you have 2 Javelins to instantly disable, or 3 to instantly kill, it's usually better to go with a standard RPG/Gustav. Though 3 Javelins + SOFLAM will destroy tanks with relative ease.

Also take a lot more time to fire and the tank gunner can deal wiz you before or just gtfo .. besides with the standard rpg you can sometimes snipe an idling tank across whole map (been there done that) while the lockon of javelin has limited range.

yea also the lock time is a pain when you are right by a tank. its dumb how hitting the top doesnt do more damage.

No, the missile "hits", the feed ends, but there's no hit notification. The enemy vehicle takes no damage.
