It wasn't about the panel or the apology or the ban. It was about Brendon Drain tagging cyberbully all over a hit piece he wrote and put it up on massively. The consensus is that what happened wasn't cyberbullying. Now, Massively is RSS linked to a few dozen other blogs/news sites.
Now you can google for Alex Gianturco and get 'cyberbully' in the first page.
That's the problem and the broadcast was sent out before the eve-radio and Voices from the Void casts, so put it in proper perspective.

You're describing the same set of actions using words that are broader and less offensive, where the article writer used sensationalized phrases to make it sound more interesting so he'd get more hits. Just because you don't like which words he used to convey the same scenario doesn't mean we should all take out our pitchforks and torches. That would make us no better than all the "political correctness" nerds who try to police how we express ourselves.
Additionally, "Talking dumb shit" is not necessarily a fair phrase to use to describe the reason he was banned since if that was the case the entire panel, minus the wormhole guy, would have been banned as well.

The thing is... words matter. Specially when it comes to reputation (and in this case, both mittens' and EVE's playerbase are at stake). Bullying of any kind, be it cyber, shoolyard or workplace-related is an ACTUAL serious business, and you can't go tacking the name on things that don't deserve it, both because it trivializes the actual phenomenon and because it screws up things that are not necesarily deserving to be screwed up (re: EVE's general air of assholeness). This reminds me an awful lot of the onset of the ADHD "pandemic" that swept trough the US a few years back, where any kid who had trouble focusing on his awfuly boring math class would be diagnosed by a random smuck and promplty had an excuse to act like a brat making real ADHD patients sound like we're just making excuses to not do shit like a "normal human being"... and reminds me of the pathetic (and totally current) trend of self-diagnosing of asperger's... if we allow any moron who feels offended by something on the internet to claim that he was cyberbullied, the people who actually get harassed and properly bullied will be buried in a field of noise, and the problem will never be fixed.
I like the fact that mittens started up this campaign against scrubs that call themselves gaming journalists, mainly because I believe we should all do it to the general press... this may be a small and totally unimportant field of "journalism", but it gives me a little hope.

The way I read that amendment, literally everything we do, including shooting other spaceships, taunting them in local, scamming or just stealing from them, is cyberbullying, since by doing all of these things we're "transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, h arass or cause substantial emotional distress to a person".
It's especially bad the way the entire eve community went after BOB, because that was severe, repeated and hostile behavior.

First off, you'd probably tack an adjective on his actions, like 'asinine' or 'thoughtless' or 'drunken' or 'dickheaded.'
Secondly, now that I'm done splitting hairs, the whole fucking point is that CCP has not only enabled but fostered a culture of unrepentant aggression in their game, and instead of owning it by admitting that yeah, we got the guy drunk, we put him in a room in front of a bunch of his mates and handed him a microphone and that this was more likely to happen than not because this is what our game is actually like, they instead initiated Class V Hand-Wringing Protocol and rid themselves of all liability surrounding the issue.
Let us not forget that Mittens is a symptom, not an illness. Non-consensual PVP is the illness, and if CCP actually treats the problem, they'll lose the only thing which makes their game unique in the grand scheme of MMOs.

No... I was asking what verb they wanted to use since "bullying" apparently was unacceptable. Also, the Mittani himself said being drunk wasn't an excuse, why would you mention it? He also made it clear in his apology he believes in-game behavior should not spill over into real life behavior.
Do I believe he got shafted? Yes. Do I believe him being drunk should even be brought up? No. Should our jimmies be rustled over the media being sensationalist while covering a person in the spotlight fucking up? No.

My Translation:
