We're all Goonsians now.
We're all Goonsians now.
So you're saying Goonswarm Federation is good at this game?
I will admit that the next three weeks are going to be boring as fuck forumwise. With no major wars going on it's going to be all about sovereignty and nerfs. Gonna need to find another forum to troll through the workday...
That's what I'm saying, bromato.
...only going to get worse.
Maybe I should declare my intention to take down Goonswarm from the inside, then make a bunch of creepy singing videos about Mittens.
Most EU UK toons will be on the razzle, bbq'ing, partying or drinking heavily unless there still in their moms basement, it's good Friday and I am just fastening my Afro golly wig (as my afro deserted me many years ago) for a 70's theme discotheque with the wife's friends.
So boggeying and fingers x wiffy jiggy l8rs.
Xenuria is literally jarjar?
There's nothing worse than having a good idea for a post not being good enough to pull it off :negative:
I would call it differently.
As much as I may not agree with his personality, The Mittani and his CEO's are seemingly better right now at tactics than their counterparts.
Not the CFC players, though. They still suck mostly. And thats fine as well.
I dont think the tactics would work with 'elite-pvp' people, as they would have their panties in a bunch all the time trying to decide who has the bigger epeen.
I wasnt talking about prior dominion bro i said anomalies nerf and the ability to every system in 0.0 , even the shitiest one to become equal to what is now a -0.9 , and yes allot off small alliances in that time came to 0.0 rented systeams and tried to defend them.
And bro good luck maintaining a small corp in a -0.5.....
edit: Oh and the nerf was so good that they buffed the -0.9 and -1.0 , guess who has those systems?
The use of actual tactics is what got them called 'elite-pvp' in the first place. Unified fitting, strict doctrines with no wiggle room accepted, uniform actions, and skill training.
What you actually mean is that the CFC adopted a small bit of 'elite-pvp' and scaled it for a larger audience.
"Elite-pvp": otherwise known as "common sense".
Nobody likes to lose. As numbers scale upward the logistical capabilities to field kitchen sink/not-elite pvp/whatever fleets becomes impossible to win with. Thus the necessity to have tight fleet doctrines and organization. I hate the concept of elite pvp as a philosophy because it's essentially effective and efficient pvp which everyone should strive for (unless you're some mouth breather aimlessly ~exploring~). Elite pvp however as a culture is a lot different and I think what a lot of people object to. The culture that your k:d ratio matters and belittling those that don't meet some "pilot standard" that is conjured up at the time. These people are essentially the older kids in the sandbox that take a shovel and throw sand at you while they laugh at your misfortune. Not that this brings up any repressed memories or anything
That's why I feel we are so successful as an alliance. Not necessarily as a sov acquiring alliance, but an alliance. We have some clearly defined guidelines and suggestions for newbies that gets them into the fight the instant they are accepted into Goonswarm. SP, Isk, character age, doesn't matter. What we fight for doesn't line The Mittani's wallets so he can buy new yoga mats for his wife, it goes right back to the line member to help keep generating their fun. There are so many special interest groups that you can find something to do, and people that want to do it with you. That's an attractive quality, especially for someone brand new to the game.
/words
This isn't the first or last time this will happen im sure.
The last time it went stunningly well for goonswarm (thats my version of sarcasm, killing bob nearly killed goons).
Killing your enemy in EVE usually has the exact opposite effect that you would normally expect, and most victors end up slipping into a coma after their great conquest, because they realize that there are no more conquests to have, and EVE is after all about conflict and conquest, not this empire building bullshit that people want it to be about. The empire building part is just one of the mechanisms to foster the conflict.
you are missing the biggest point garth
live or die still won the fucking game like boss nigs
ya dig
Hi, this is fake, and as far as I know entirely something people make up, the only alliance of note that I can think of who gives a shit about how much you die is AAA. You can die 1000 times a day in PL, as long as its not a stupid fit or a stupid situation you found yourself dying in, nobody will say a damn word.
Ask JEFFRAIDER, he has more losses than half of goonswarm combined, its one of the prices you pay when you try to roll around solo, you're going to die a lot.
Look at people like Promethius, he managed like, 58 kills in march, all solo, but 51 losses. Ships explode, its what the games about, the myth that people care about their K/D ratios is something propagated by the CFC leadership, but nobody really fucking cares that much in the modern game, that shit went out the window 3 years ago.
The only conflict that conquest brings is blob warfare. There are still ample opportunities for good ole pvp or ganking carebears. When I first joined the NC we were not at war, most people just carebeared, did their thing, whatever people did, and there would usually be a few fleets up here and there throughout the night for roams or whatever. Some people did regular roams (Lucian James' friday/saturday night drink drink smoke roams, etc.) and you join or don't join, whatever you felt like doing. It wasn't bad. Was it constant warfare? No. But most people who wanted to pvp were able to satisfy that need, but granted it took a few jumps to get there. We also had merciless and ncdot living in Venal for a time to fight with. Black Legion would do their 2:30 roam that we would usually ignore but sometimes form up against. It's really not the end of the world to just have some space and not be trying to take other people's space. Some alliances have a tradition of going on deployments to different places around the map to piss in other people's cheerios for a few weeks.
Not everything in Eve is about sovereignty war. In fact, I gather most people feel that sov war is the worst part of Eve Online: A Bad Game.
CFC has by far the best organisational structure and motivating culture of any sov group in the game's history. The quality of the line grunts is irrelevnt. Even FC quality isn't a deal breaker as long as it's minmally competent (disclaimer: I have never been in a DBRB fleet). It always makes me laugh inside when I see people post shit about "stupid goons" or babble on about how none of them could win a 1v1 or shit like that as if it mattered a fuck. I mean jesus christ it's been 6 years now, get a fucking clue.
Even if the average individual goon has to spend 45 minutes reading a wiki and write off three trial attempts before he can wipe his own ass that doesn't fucking matter, because the guys running the show are damb smart.
DBRB is actually a good FC, you just have to listen to his mountains of incessant chatter as a consequence. All of the coalition-level FCs in the CFC are actually damn good FCs, personalities aside.

All joking aside, I was too late to get in the first alpha fleet early in the actual tenal invasion, and I had to go in the second fleet. That fleet turned out to be a lot less chattery than I'm normally used to, and towards the end I was actually wanting to be in boat's fleet ... because at least there's always something to giggle at there, even if it might be boat trolling the entire fleet about football.
Bark bark you guys wanna hear a story bark bark
On national Pirate Day, boat's dog says yark yark True Story
There's nothing worse than having a good idea for a post not being good enough to pull it off :negative:
There still seems to be a number of people that still pay attention to K/D ratios. In the alliance I am in (INIT) no one is going to get kicked for losing an assload of ships, but corp CEOs and FCs love to chest beat when they have lots of kills with few losses. Its a game full of spreadsheet nerds looking for some sort of metric to use to wave in the faces of others, like being the #1 alliance on battleclinic or some other shit.
Killboards are a good measure of activity, not skill,
http://www.eve-razor.com/killboard/?...&kll_id=453432 I think NCDot will provide ample entertainment if nothing else.
Goons aren't the only alliance with SRP. NCdot gives their members free supers and titans and replaces those that die. PL gives their members tech moons and replaces supers and titans. Other alliances have lesser programs, but it's not due to their desire to RMT all the money away, it's because they don't own tech.
Goons do have squads, which is nice, but that's the result of being massive -- not some special unique characteristic of goon ingenuity.

Yo no he's fucking not, that guy is just one of the few who will consistently X up to do shitbird work for years on end. You got suas back whose one of the greats so I hope he adapts to how shit gets done these days and fucking owns, I looked up to that man as a goonfleet newbie. Thats probably why so many blues got shot when I was in. Vee always had my respect, laz had my full respect until I heard what his "counter" to muninns was then I realized he was a fucking dumbass at least in some regards and had to knock that nigga down a notchbut definitely a competent FC who I'd always fight under. And Rydis is a woman who has the most soothing voice though I can't recall any major engagement where I had to actually fight under her as cloud ring was basically blueballs by ev0ke and maybe one or two fights. Ev0ke are pussy lol.
Just remembered: Rydis gets mad alot and calls black legion dudes cowards for dumpstering her coalitions shitty fleets and dumb carrier pilots/capital FC miscalculations wholesale. Can't really respect that.
I'm also going to guess that a part of that was the fact that the game handled blobs so well, that when they were done killing off BOB, a lot of the players just went off grid/quit. We've now taken how many regions now, and we don't really seem to have that kind of burnout going on. In fact, it's looking pretty chill.
Sure sure, but the month after you took Delve, everything was roses then too, even 2 months after, but 5 months later, things were falling apart. I mean if we want to rewrite history and pretend the second bob fell is when your problems started we can, but I think we both know it takes several months for anything noticeable to happen in EVE.
There was the conquest, the settling, then the reset that was meant to give us all something nearby to shoot at, which turned into "man just shooting to shoot is boring as fuck", which turned into straight apathy towards the game, 5 months later, Molle had a new hat and none of us had shit to offer him in the way of resistance, even a shocking event like the failure of your alliance to pay its bills right (i know it was Karttoon and not your alliance but ) could wake you up enough to stand the onslaught that was the IT invasion of Delve.
Comparing how your doing now to how things might be in 5 months with no realistic enemies currently in the game for you is a bit of a stretch. Your best hope is literally that somehow Hawk manages to put the band back together, because the other entities in EVE have obviously shown over the past 8 months that they're unwilling to even fight us for their sov, much less you, who pretty much do what we do when we invade, times 100.
Edit: Also to the guy that neg repped me swearing that RAIDEN and NCdot both care about their KR can you show me that somewhere in print, ive read most of the NCdot forum dump and haven't ever seen a word one about it, RAIDEN suffers fairly high casualty rates in fleet fights, so i can't really see them doing it either, its just not sensible to be a stickler about your KDR, unless you're talking about BURN EDEN which have historically been douchebags, and you can't really stick a tag on a whole alliance because of one corp.
Actually, from my perspective (granted, I was new at the time), it looked like we were mostly holding our own (we ended up holding 49- against the full force they threw at us for two weeks) and we were even getting a few of the old blood back, but then we lost at least two of the main systems during the sov fuckup, and some of the auxilliary ones as well.
I expect there'll be a lot of market fuckery (of which I'll take part with all the iskies my toonie has which isn't using to buy mommyships with), a lot of hisec fuckery, and probably a fair bit of foreign legioning, which turned out to be some of the most hilarious things we've done since I joined goons, simply because of the hilarious amounts of tears they generate.
GoonFleet 2012: I wish I was in dbrb's fleet
lmao
Last station just fell? All that's left is the mission accomplished speech on the aircraft carrier and sending the goonNOOBpets home?
So anticlimactic...
PL 2012: ehm I can't think of anything, you guys should go do something
what, hauling their Tech to market isn't enough for you?
This post happily existed in all possible states before you observed it. Now it has collapsed into a single state.
I hope you're satisfied, fuckwad
I certainly don't think we are unique in the concept of SRP. I do think that it helps to make up the complete package of the "Goonswarm Experience" which from the top down has a lot of benefits to it. With that said I see the value in having alliances like PL, Black Legion, Init. around that offer similar or other benefits. Alliances that don't hold sov but go after where the fights are or where the contracts are. It just adds to the sandbox experience.
I do think we've built a foundation of something pretty damn cool though.
back in my day PL where like this mythical beast that laid waste to all the bitches
now they are irrelevant nobodies who get bombed in oracles while they pile on to someone elses thing
but wait did you see their latest supercarrier gank~~~ awwwww so elite pvp~~~~~~~~~~
vv~
