The ASBs might prove interesting in 12-mans anyways. It's telling that most of the Sleipnir+Scimi setups had Sleipnirs fitting them anyways -- even with a Scimi, the ability to burst tank with them (or to keep tanking if your Scimi gets jammed/damped) is really nice.

It's not going to be 100% mandatory the way it has been in 6-mans, though.

Put it this way: My Curse on day 4 had an ASB fitted, in order to ensure that it could stay alive versus kiting Tengus. Speaking as a regular TQ Curse pilot, that shit hurts my soul.

Yup sorry, Brain fart. Still stands though. Brick are the weakest in the group, but an upset isn't a complete outside chance, unlike some groups.

Hurr that doesn't seem to work for me, I reg on the Auth but every time I try to login on the betting site it says there's an Error.

Bets for the Group Stages, some Individual matches, and the Overall winner seem to be open now, so make sure to do it today if you're gonna forget (or sleep in like me) tomorrow \o/

Edit: Also just curious, does TEST take a cut like BIG or do you chaps (the admins of the site that is) just also allow yourselves to bet and make cash that way? I really don't mind either way, its a great site, was just curious.

Matalok (TESTs superadmin dude) takes a ~5% cut iirc. Also, FYI the odds aren't fixed, they can change even after you put your money down; the odds are automated as people place bets.

The return you get is based on how much money is bet on the other guys.

Say betting just started and only 50 mil in chump is bet on both sides, odds are 1:1 before house cut.

Now you come along and drop in 2 billion on what is the obviously superior team.

Now you get a 4 bil payout when betting ends if your team wins?

No, you add in money, and return is determined by the final amount bet for each side compared to the other team.

So up until betting is closed and odds are finalized, the return odds shift with each bet.

Gross manipulation of the system results otherwise.

Don't see why. It's the only possible system. Anything else would would expose the group hosting the betting to too much risk to allow them to operate.

The AT is not a game of pure chance that can be determined ahead of time so that odds can set in stone.

Of course, if you have another system, I'm sure Vegas would love to hear of it.

There is BIG betting or what ever its called but like Rer said, one fuckup on an isk payment and you lose it, at least with the TEST system you can recover any mistakes.

Dumb question on betting on the Test site. If a team has odds below 1.0 then betting on them will not make you any money if they win. Is that correct?

You have to keep in mind that for rl sports betting there is enough historical data on each team available that the betting host can make reasonable predictions on which to base his odds (and when there isn't a reasonable way to make predictions - e.g. for horse races - then parimutuel betting is the norm irl, too).

And while fraud is still a major problem irl, at least it can be punished if detected (and different betting providers coordinate when it comes to the detection of suspicious betting patterns).

In EVE the betting provider would have to magically come up with odds based on basically no information at all and would have no recourse if teams that are unlikely to place in the top 2 decide that recouping at least some money by betting on their own losses is a pretty neat idea.
