I'm of the same mind actually. I chose not to play in it because there are too many unknowns and too many elements out of my ability to control or at least foresee. I would have taken a large volume at ~600 pu, but I missed my shot, because I knew it would go to 900-1k at least in the short term, and I'd have sold there. Waiting around for 2k+ could be a long process that goons could pull the plug on at any moment.

When I passed through Jita today, the price seemed to be in the 800s.

It's hard to tell what happening with the volume traded because the initial speculation spikes have messed up the scale of the graph, but it looks to be climbing a little again. I guess it could be people selling stockpiles, although in my mind a stockpile is for using when prices are too high to buy the fuel you need.

So, for you gankers. The new devblog for the winter expansion is out, specifically the one regarding the Tornado (ship contest 1 winner) and the shipclass it belongs to.

It'll be a tier 3 battlecruiser with the ability to fit Battleship weapons. Ganking Orcas and Freighters will be just a little bit cheaper now...

Pfft, Danger Zone? You need a more appropriate theme for suicide ganking.

That megadeath track reminds me just how terrible dave mustaine was at singing and song writing. He plays guitar like a mofo granted, but see the seek and destroy track for what a "tune" should be like.

No wonder he and Metallica never got along.

Been ages since I heard seek and destroy, there was a time when we used to sing the lyrics "Sooty, sweep, and his toy" along with it....oh how we laughed.

Sooty is probably only recognised in UK

I quit following this thread a while ago, so forgive me if this has already been posted.

It's been about 3 weeks since this Goon endeavor was initiated and I don't see an impact on T2 raw materials(complex reactions). Some items are up a little bit and some items are down a little. There are no dramatic price swings with complex reactions.

One item that has gone up considerably is construction blocks. Sales volumes are about the same. Not sure what is causing the increase there.

Only thing this initiative has seemed to accomplish is drive up the price of other isotopes.

The price of some T2 items we produce is going up. Thanks CCP for announcing hybrid "fixes". Many hybrids have been selling at a net loss for up to 6 months or more! We are finally able to sell some of our inventory.

We generally spend 15 to 20 billion in complex reactions every month. We haven't noticed much of an effect up to this point. Doesn't seem that PL's tech' hold out is having an effect either.(that was a bunch of BS anyhow IMO)

Construction blocks are completely unrelated to this, most likely because A. they're mostly a PI product these days and B. It's because the soon-to-be-implemented Customs Office gantries will use them.

    https://killboard.goonfleet.com/shrugged.html I recently passed the 100kill mark.

A lot of you guys worried about "goons getting bored" haven't really been paying attention to these daily stats as well as you should. The number of ships killed has remained fairly consistent over the last couple weeks, indicating that nobody is getting bored or fucking off.

What I think you HAVE been seeing is a little bit of blue ice coming in from the drone regions which has caused speculators sitting on reserves to dump theirs as well, pull prices down a bit. I think we can all agree that drone ice isn't going to meet the daily demand (which was in the 40-70mil a day before this kicked off), but it has served as a nice catalyst to flush some reserves into play. It may slow the rise of oxytopes, but if we keep the pressure on gallente space it's only a matter of time.

And one or two supertanked hulks guarded by 3 scimitars is really a drop in the bucket. The day I started ganking in Deninard, there were 35 mackinaws in the ice belt. Repeat that scene for every gallente ice belt and that's what the previous supply was. What do we have today? One, two, maybe three hulks sucking down ice for a few hours. A couple of hours ninja mining in mackinaws before a goon slips into system? There's just no way for that production to be matched, and oxytopes would have to rise a lot higher than they are now to equal the isk/hour of mining ABCs in nullsec, or even just drone ratting in the drone regions.

According to eve-kill I personally have racked up about 14.36 billion in damages on exhumers and barges of various types (http://eve-kill.net/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=368430) and we are coming up fairly soon on over 1000 mackinaws killed (859 as of this post). I definitely would not count this out, especially as i watch the amount of blue ice being sold in gallente regions get smaller every day.

It looks like it will hold around 900 sell, which is still enough to bring stockpiles to bear, but I assume not enough to give the nullsec bots hardons.

Now it's just a matter of how much ice random hisec indytards are sitting on and if they'll log in and notice their stockpile doubled in value.

I wonder how long it takes till you have a viable char for botting ice mining compared to ABC/Ratting (if ever)

Ice would have to get stupid high. Remember, mackinaws can't tank the rats in the drone regions, so you'd need to either manually mine or manually guard the mackinaws. That's strike one. You *could* macro with hulks to mine ice, which CAN tank the rats, but that's one less hulk that could be making a bigger profit on ABCs. You need to get oxytopes to about 1.5k in price before you see parity with the abcs. Until then, people mining blue ice in 0.0 are the hurrrrrrrrrrrr retards like IRC who just see oxytopes doubling in price but don't do the actual math to figure out what is higher isk/hour.

And in the drone regions, neither form of mining is equal to the isk/hour from ratting and looting the alloys.

Gimmee all that sweet, sweet plush, already given to me in compressed form!

Its bot's, why would you need to "manually" guard them (I get that one would need to use an altered botting script, wich either warps out or sets a BC or something aside as guard)

I wonder how the distribution between Jump- and Posfuel is. If goons keep the interdiction up i would expect most people to change towertype sooner or later reducing demand.

2 or 3 macks together in an ice belt can tank each other no problem in the drone regions using shield bots. I am sure they can get their bots programmed to do such a thing if they wanted.

This is both acutely smart and very accident-prone. I welcome honour amongst bots, as the next frontier of AI exploitation.

I am glad to finally be part of the griefing campaign.

I reactivated my account today and decided to try and sell off my alts' assets and consolidate my isk to my main toon. So as I was sitting afk in my Caldari Shuttle in one random 1m SP alt in Jita, a 8 day old Goon ganker alt decided his Thrasher would be worth it and ganked my little shuttle. The pod lived at least.

I hate to admit it, but back in the day I used to think I had to mine, I thought it was something you had to do in the game to make isk. And when I first started playing Eve I mined the hell out of rocks until I found level 4's for my isk making venture. Anyway, Halada of IAC made an excellent Mining Bible, and showed you what to mine and how to mine to make isk, and to be honest isk is easy to make mining even in high sec if you mine the right stuff and build a spreadsheet for it just like anything else in eve you build a spreadsheet for. But after mining an hour or 2 you want to claw your eyes out and uninstall the game.

Anyway to the point, I used to mine Dark Glitter like a boss in my mackinaw solo all the time tanking any rat that came around, simply warped to a POS if any neut came in local etc, it was good money back in the day and you could easily pass a few hours of stress free time watching mining lasers dance allover the ice while enjoying dinner, a book or movie.

I used to tank out my Mack this way:

    [Mackinaw, 0.0 Ice]
    True Sansha Power Diagnostic System
    Co-Processor II

    Gist A-Type Photon Scattering Field
    Gist A-Type Heat Dissipation Field

Granted it is not something that can tank a squad of angry roaming ganged invaders, but it is cheap, cap stable, and perfect for those pesky rats, but it is quite possible and easy to actually tank a Mack for solo 0.0 ice mining.

I think pubbies have finally figured out what warp-ins are, because they're getting awfully cautious when I'm 10km from them. If only my covops alt wasn't on the same account as my gank alt

    Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
    Gistii A-Type Small Shield Booster

I don't know what it is about mining that makes it so new pilots are so attracted to it. I actually managed to get my main into a Hulk before I realized how HORRIBLY boring it is even with others in fleet shooting the shit with you. Then I switched to LVL4s in a Raven, but then cross-trained into Minmattar ships so I could be ~elite pvp~.

I swear to God if I had a time machine one of the first things I would do is tell my past self to just train 100% minmattar off the bat as it currently haunts me that I have millions of SP wasted in ships I don't fly (hulk) or don't fly often (Caldari), basically inflating my pod price for 0 reason. Millions of SP I could have put to better use.

    July, your 100% right.

I dont know why CCP it seems pushes everyone to mining when they first start, back in the day my tutorial had me mining the first thing I did and told me it was the only way to make isk in the Eve cluster. I guess everyone was forced to mine for that first frigate and cruiser.

But yeah if I had it to do over I would of never trained to mine or mission run.

These days the tutorials offer a broader look at making isk in eve and you don't have to mine at all, although it does seem to be part of the whole mindset of a new player.

But that's not always CCPs fault, the first step in any RTS/strategy game is to gather resources.

I'd guess because it's simple and risk free. I had a friend try out EVE a couple years ago and the first thing he wanted to do was some sci-fi shipbuilding and wanted to be the "evil industrial tycoon"-type.
That was all good until he saw that he pretty much had to mine Veld for days to even build a single ship and that meant he had to spend the first month of his EVE life watching lasers go zoooom all day long. I tried to guide him to missions or something and try out some PvP in frigs.

Needless to say, he was wiser and won EVE before even properly starting it.

God damn, he must be doing things right when they're this mad as to take the whole thing with buying a character as something bad.

I'm not that rich and nobody got rich by giving money away!

Regarding the discusson about why newbies are atracted to mining:

It's part of the human mindset. When you are not given a clear set of guidelines, and are dropped into a new environment, you default to "hoarding resources" mode, and mining is in the lowest of the lowends on that matter, so newbies feel it's the right way to go, and to start out from. That, and the fact that asteroid belts are readily put on your overview, and you are given a mining laser from the start, help them newbies think that mining is half the game.
